Chapter sixteen - I hate you

"I can't stand him!" Melly shouted as she ran down the stairs. "But, then, not very many people can!" She rounded the corner and came to the parlor where Lucius and Voldemort were talking. They both looked up at her as she stopped. She took a few threatening steps inside. "Why?" she demanded to Voldemort. "Why must you always make everything so difficult?"

Voldemort stood up. "What do you mean, dearest?" he asked. He was liking her anger, though he wouldn't show it.

"Draco called you up to see me because he was worried about me, and all you could do was say 'She'll be fine'?" Her voice rose higher and louder as she talked. "Of course you knew why I fainted, but did you really know...OR CARE...that I was really going to be all right?"

"You seem very brave today," her father whispered. "Is your mother giving you the courage?"

"No. The fact that I'm through with your carelessness is all the courage I need to stand up to you, once again," she said, her voice calming down. "Why can't you be like a father, and care? You know, just because I'm a grown woman now doesn't mean I no longer need you." She looked at Lucius, who was trying to hide his anger to her for talking to Voldemort like the way she was.

She loved him. Lucius was her father, and Voldemort was just there. She wasn't Voldemort's. He gave her mother his seed, and she was born. He did his part.

"Why do you have to come into my life now?" she asked, looking back up at him. "I was happy before you came. I was happy when it was just my mother and I."

"I'm sorry," he said. "I cannot change what has already happened. Things happen the way they are meant to happen."

She looked back at Lucius, who nodded in return and agreement with the lord. "Then, can I denounce you as my father for a reason that is surly meant to happen?" She looked back up at the man she did not want as her father.

Voldemort looked taken aback. "What? That is impossible, you are my daughter, and my daughter you shall stay."

Melly looked down, and nodded. "I hate you. I just wanted you to know that." She turned around and exited the parlor. That wasn't actually the reason why she went in there, but that's how it turned out to be.

She actually just went in there to tell them that she was going out, but something in her snapped. When she looked at him, sitting there, talking with Lucius...something in her snapped. Not even Faith or Severus knew what had happened.

She walked up to Draco, who was waiting for her at the door. He handed her her cloak, and the two stepped outside.

They walked around the gardens for the longest time in silence. Melly with her head bowed, and Draco not knowing what to say.

Finally, he spoke. "I heard what you said," he said. Melly looked up at him. "I have two things to say about that. One, is that, among everything you said, you had failed to mention you were going for a walk outside. Two, I'm thinking you spoke for the both of us."

"What do you mean?"

"My father was in there, no doubt?" Melly nodded. "Well, then you spoke for the both of us. I can't stand my father." They stopped under a large tree. "I can't stand your father either." He smiled at her. "I wish, more than anything right now, is to denounce my father as...my...father. Just like you."

"That can't be possible," Melly said, smirking. "Lucius is wonderful!"

"Only to you. Only to his 'master's' daughter. He treated you like a princess, because you are a princess." He put his hand on her cheek. "The princess of the most feared wizard in all of Britain."

Melly sighed and looked down. "I don't feel like a princess." She looked up at him and shook her head. "I am not a princess. I don't have luxuries that princesses do."

"Yes you do."

"And I have more depressing problems than any other princess in the whole world will ever have to face."

"That doesn't matter."

"And I love my father's enemy's best friend! How can I be a princess?"

"Well, no one said being a princess was jewels and galleons, love. The reason why everything is like it is, is because you are a princess."

"No, I'm not!"

"The princess of darkness. The princess of the most horrible, the most cruel, the most complicated wizard that anyone will ever know in this time." He put his hands on her shoulders. "And loving Weasel will pull you to be a princess of the light. For me, however, I am destined to be stuck in the darkness for all of my life."

Melly shook her head. "You can change!" she said.

"Not me. I'm the son of Lucius Malfoy! Do you think any one would believe that I've gone legit? All because a little person told me that she was ashamed that I had a master."

"I didn't say I was ashamed. I said I would hate you. Then you said you had no master. Then I told you I was helping them all escape. Did you forget?"

"I guess I did. I don't know. All I could hear coming from your mouth was, 'I am so ashamed of you, Draco Malfoy! You've changed into someone who you were not raised to become. I will hate you if you don't help me let out the prisoners that I call friends.' That's the way I saw it."

Melly hugged him. "I'm sorry, Draco. You're life wouldn't be like this if I was around."

"Well, I don't blame you. I actually blame that no nosed snake my father calls 'master'. But, if not for him, I would still have a master, and Potter would most likely be dead right now."

Author notes: So, I now know why I named this story: Taking Over Me. It was actually origonally(sp?) named that because of the first few lines of the song from evenescence(okay, i can't spell today!) 'you don't remember me but i remember you.' yeah. so, it's actually named this because melly is changing draco. yaaa! so, review! anyways, i just wanted to point that out because i thought it was funny.
