Prologue

Elenna Potter awoke bright and early the morning of August 28. The reason? Her annoying big brother, Logan. He had jumped on her to wake her up.

"Wake up, sis," he said. "It's time for me and dad to go, and mum wants you downstairs to eat something before we get back." Elenna mumbled something, but Logan pinched her cheeks. "WAKE UP!"

Elenna groaned and sat up, glaring at her brother. Why had he jumped on her? Oh yeah, today's the day that their parents are going to take them to Diagon Ally for supplies they needed for school. Elenna was only interested in getting her owl.

Elenna was eleven years old, with emerald green eyes, long, wavy, auburn hair, and is smaller than for her age. People always thought she was eight of nine, and it drives her crazy. She is very outgoing, has lots of friends (half are muggles), which probably indicates that she's popular, especially with the magic folk. She thinks that sometimes that it's because she's Harry Potter's daughter, but other times, she highly doubts that. Poor unsuspecting child. Her only fear about going to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was to be sorted into Slytherin. Her grandmother and grandfather, on her dad's side, were in Gryffindor, and on her mother's side, the whole family went to Gryffindor, she thinks. All she really wanted, besides making loads of friends, is to be in Gryffindor with her best friend, Katherine Thomas.

Elenna quickly got dressed and raced downstairs to eat breakfast. Her mother, Ginny, had just set a plate of fresh eggs and a cup of fresh orange juice down for her.

"Hurry up and eat," Ginny said. "As soon as your dad gets back from Uncle Ron's house, we're leaving."

"I know, Mum," Elenna said with a mouthful of eggs. She swallowed hard, then said, "I just can't wait to leave. I'm so excited that I can hardly eat."

"You just took two mouthfuls of eggs! Not even Ron could do that. Don't tell me you can hardly eat."

"I rest my case," Elenna said, ignoring the last two sentences.

Ginny rolled her eyes and smiled. "All right, all right. Just don't choke yourself. I think your dad's home now," she said as she looked out the kitchen window. "Go quickly and fetch your brother's and your shopping list. Don't want to end up like your brother last year. Ended up guessing all the things he needed."

"Good thing we ran into Lee and Dean," Harry said as he walked through the kitchen door. Elenna smiled when she remembered that, and Harry smiled back, then motioned for her to go get the lists. He closely followed by Logan, who was walking backwards talking to Daniel, of Danny, and accidentally bumped into his dad, causing him to fall into Ginny's arms. "Just where I was going," Harry said as he kissed his wife. Logan quickly apologized then sat down in the same chair that Elenna had been sitting in a few seconds before; Danny sat in the chair next to him. Two others, Ron and Hermione Weasly, also followed the two boys.

They arrived at Diagon Ally, and the four parents let their kids go buy their needs.

The first stop was to Madam Malkin's Robes For All Occasions. Elenna had been there many times before, but it was never this jam-packed. Danny found a woman who sat on a stool looking bored, and he could tell that she worked there. So, he led the other two to her, and as soon as she noticed them, she stood up and smiled.

She was tall and slender with curves that made Danny and Logan gape at her. Her smile was also breathtaking to them.

"Welcome. Who's first?" She asked.

"I'll go first," Elenna volunteered, since none of the other two did anything but gape at the woman with open mouths. She stepped on the stool and allowed the woman to take measurements.

The girl who stood on the stool next to Elenna looked over to her. "Hi," she said.

Elenna looked over to the girl next to her. "Hullo," she answered back.

"Who're you?"

"Elenna Potter."

The girl let her mouth fall open. "The Harry Potter?" Elenna nodded, knowing what she was talking about. Her dad was still famous after all these years anyways. The girl examined Elenna's clothes. "I thought Harry Potter was rich."

"So..." Logan said. "Your point is..."

"Shouldn't you be wearing nicer stuff?"

"We can dress however we want to," sneered Logan. "And who're you to criticize our wardrobe?"

"My name is Annika Phinny-Whitton," she said. "Daughter of the minister of magic himself!"

Logan opened his mouth in sarcastic surprise and turned to Danny who, in turn, did the same thing and they both laughed afterward. Elenna rolled her eyes at them and started to look bored by just standing there and listening to Logan and Annika insult each other.

She looked the other way and saw a girl also getting her new robes. She could tell she was already a Hogwarts student, because she wore blue clothes, and her dad told her that blue and light blue were the colors of Ravenclaw. Plus, she also had the Ravenclaw pendent on her robes and wore a raven necklace. Her face was pale, and her hair was shoulder length, raven black hair. She stood tall and proud as the woman she was working with took her measurements. Elenna then turned her gaze to a boy. She noticed that he was staring at her. He wasn't in Ravenclaw, and by the looks of him and what her dad tells her, he looked like he is in Gryffindor. He was also pale and had short, messy black hair and his eyes were a dark color; so dark they almost looked black. He also stood tall and proud as the girl next to her. And also, Elenna could tell they were brother and sister since they looked alike.

For the rest of the day, Danny and Logan did nothing but mock Annika. They would say stuff like, "I'm the most important witch because my daddy is the minister of magic," and "aren't you rich? Can't you buy pretty pink and pretty expensive clothes as I do? Along with pretty pink nail polish to match?"

They soon came to Eeylops Owl Emporium.

"I'm going to go buy an owl," Elenna said.

"Okay, we'll be in the Quidditch Shop," Logan said, and the two boys walked into the shop next door.

Elenna walked through the door and the first person she saw was Katherine, her best friend. "Katie!" She called.

Katherine looked up from examining the screech owls and saw Elenna, then smiled and waved as she came towards her.

"Her for an owl?" Elenna asked her.

"What do you think?" Katherine asked, still examining two owls, asking for Elenna's opinion. "This one, or this one?"

Elenna looked at the two owls that her best friend was pointing at. One was small and active, while the other was a little bigger and a little less active as it slept.

"Honestly, I'd go for this one," and she pointed at the one that is active. "It'll last longer."

"Yeah, I think you're right," Katherine said. She seemed to have brightened up, for she seemed much more excited. "I know the perfect owl for you." She led Elenna over to where the snowy owls are, and pointed to a small snowy owl, which hooted and danced around as soon as he saw the two girls. "He loves girls, he's cute, and he's young, so he'll last longer."

Elenna examined the owl. She finally sighed and shook her head. "I love him." She looked back at Katherine and smiled. "Once again, you persuade me to get something that you also enjoy."

They both bought their owls, and met Logan and Danny in front of the Quidditch Shop. Lee, Katherine's brother, accompanied them. They had each bought a new broom.

"The brand new SkyScraper," bragged Logan. "The fastest broom until next year."

"You never know," said Elenna trying hide her jealousy, "it could be the fastest broom for the next one hundred years."

"Never underestimate the shop's reputation," added Katherine, also trying to hide her jealousy. "They have been known to change their ways once or twice."

"Are we all done shopping here?" Logan asked when he noticed the two girls each holding a cage that held an owl, also as soon as he got annoyed by them being smart asses. "We still have time left. Let's go to the Leaky Cauldron and have a round of butterbeers."

Everyone agreed, and soon found themselves at a small round table drinking butterbeers. Logan sighed quite loudly so everyone could hear. As soon as they all turned to him, he jerked his head in the direction of the short brown haired blue-eyed girl: Annika. Logan, Danny and Elenna all groaned as she took notice of them and started walking to the, also accompanied by a friend.

"Hullo Elenna," she said, then added with disgust, "Logan. I want you to meet my friend, Melina Avery."

Melina had short blonde hair, which was wavy. She had deep blue eyes, and she wasn't too small (like Elenna), or too tall (like Katherine); she was the perfect height for her age.

Annika and Melina grabbed two chairs and started talking. Thankfully, Ron and Ginny walked through the door and motioned for the five to go with them. They all quickly said bye to Annika and Melina and rushed to Ron and Ginny.

Luckily, Katherine and Lee's parents had joined up with the other four parents, so the two didn't have to stay with Annika and Melina.
