Chapter Eleven

Months went by and Harry and Draco still slept together on one bed without doing much of an adult stuff. They still woke up tangled together - none of the barriers, magical or physical, seemed to work; Harry's magic would just remove (without his bidding) anything that separated them. After some time they came to mutual acceptance of it (which Draco called The Inevitable) and even stopped morning screaming matches. The most interesting thing, however, was that neither of them thought of moving to other room. The idea, strangely, didn't come to any of their minds.

Harry's belly, much to the horror of both soul mates, started growing. Draco tried to joke about it (nervously). Harry tried to laugh (even more so).

The most terrifying thing for Harry was the fact that he started losing touch with his magic. These days he had to concentrate hard to get the desired effect. For security measures Chief Warlock was always with Jerkins and no less than five more Aurors.

The wizarding world was full of rumours and gossips but magazines and newspapers kept silence. Wisely. Ministry of Magic was very interested in Harry's condition but all of Rufus' suggestions 'to have a cup of tea' were denied with 'so much work, so little time.'

Draco was usually very busy with all of Potions classes he had to teach (Snape was leaving his rooms only at night to walk around the castle). Students were really glad - Draco, of course, wasn't a sweet boy, but he was much, much better than Snape.

"Hermione, have you seen Malfoy?"

"Lost your other half?"

"Actually, yes. We are making an official visit to Brazil next week and, well, you know Malfoy - he needs so much time doing incomprehensible things to his hear, nails etc. etc."

"Oh, you are so sweet and caring."

"Hermione!"

"Okay, okay, don't look murderous! He was going to his old room."

"And what's he doing there?"

"Probably cheating on you."

"Not funny."

"Harry, relax. Everything will be all right. Eventually."

"I hope so. I'll be going, then. If you see Jerkins, tell him that I am going to kill him."

"Why?"

"He is supposed to be guarding me."

"You are at Hogwarts. It's safe. And I am sure that if something untoward happens you'll be the one guarding him. Don't worry, Harry."

"You are severely underestimating Jerkins, Hermione."

"Am I?"

"Yes."

"I think he is just a jerk."

The door to Draco's rooms was heavily warded. Harry raised an eyebrow. Are you hiding something? Or you are just paranoid? Or maybe Jerkins cast the wards when you were together?

Harry closed his eyes, gathered his thoughts about himself and walked through the door.

Sounds that greeted Harry in Draco's room were not those he expected. They were moans and heavy breathing and... Harry strode determinately in only to see his husband riding Berth with such a speed as if there was no tomorrow.

Chief Warlock wasn't in shock for a long time; he cleared his throat.

Berth was the first to react. He stilled for a moment. The next one, when he sensed his boss' dawning anger, all the colour left his face; in fact, he wasn't breathing. Draco understood that something was very wrong and untangled himself from Berth. He met his soul mate's blazing eyes, held the gaze for a moment and then glanced at Berth. He was terrified then - the strong man he'd grown to like quite a bit in a past few months looked as though he wanted to live with his entire being but the death sentence had already been announced.

"Jerkins," Harry said dryly, "you seem to be on a verge of a heart attack."

With those words Berth doubled over clutching at his chest and emitted a bone-chilling scream.

Draco took in a sharp breath; his face was deathly white, his hands were shaking.

"And you," Harry said turning his gaze to Draco who seemed to have regretted he was born, "my dear husband... I will make you pay for all of your mistakes."

Harry's face was a cold mask of black hatred by now. He raised his hands to the level just above his belly, gave one last glance to the scene before him and the next moment white-hot lightning bolts erupted from the tips of his fingers and with the force of a hammer struck Draco in the chest.

Draco screamed and screamed as his whole body was seized in the surge of his soul mate's power. The smell of burnt flesh filled the air. Ghastly reddish marks started appearing on Draco's immaculate, perfect skin.

Unfortunately for Draco and Berth, Harry had never seen Star Wars and thus had no idea of what the things he was doing now looked like. If he'd had he would have probably been horrified at the resemblance he bore to a Sith Lord.

Harry screwed his face in distaste as the smell of his burnt husband reached his nostrils. He stopped the torture then and surveyed the results of his actions. Both Berth and Draco blacked out from pain.

Harry turned on his heels and disappeared.
