Chapter Nine

"Potter?"

"What?"

"I need money."

"So, what?"

"So, what! We are married, you have money so you'll give me some."

"And pray tell, how you managed before?"

"Severus was lending me. And Jerkins."

"Lending?"

"Does it matter?"

"Yes."

"Giving, then!"

"And you want me to also give you money?"

"Well, yes. After all you were the one who stole all of my money! It'd be only fair."

"Malfoy fortune was used to repair the damage your family inflicted on our world."

"It's beyond the point now."

"And how much Snape was giving you?"

"Does it matter?"

"Yes."

"Do you want to humiliate me?"

"Maybe."

"You bastard!"

"How much?"

"10 Galleons a week."

"And Jerkins?"

"He didn't give me actual money; he paid for me several times."

"How very interesting."

"So?"

"You'll have your usual 10 Galleons a week."

"Potter!"

"What?"

"Severus didn't give me more because he simply couldn't! You have much more money than he has!"

"You said correctly - I have money and they are mine to spend the way I want."

"OK! But I need clothes. And some potions stuff."

"Why won't you go somewhere and earn money?"

"I am not supposed to work! I am a Malfoy!"

"No good for you now, is it?"

"Anyway, I have no time; Severus isn't feeling well and I've got to teach almost all of his classes. I work but, well, I am not paid for it."

"Very good, then. 15 Galleons a week and that's final."

"Potter?"

"What???"

"How much money do you have?"

"A lot."

"And how much 'a lot' is?"

"Why do you care?"

"Well, I am your husband. If you die I'll inherit your fortune. I should know in advance how much that is."

"Oh, that's a good reason. I am the wealthiest wizard in the world."

"Wow. Go on, I am most interested."

"It'd be ironic if you inherit my money after my death."

"Why?"

"I got all of the money after someone died. First, my parents; they left me 30 million Galleons. Then Sirius died because of your Mum and aunt and I was his only heir. I got 80 millions from him."

"Oh, you are wealthier than Malfoys were."

"I haven't yet finished. Dumbledore left me one and a half billion."

"You are kidding! He just couldn't have had that much money!"

"He had. He defeated Dark Lord Grindelwald and the Ministry paid him a billion."

"Wait! You also defeated a Dark Lord! Does it mean -"

"Yes. I also got a billion from the Ministry."

Draco made simple calculations. 30 + 80 + ... um... 150? No, 1,500 + 1,000. Ah-huh. 2,610? 2,610! 2,610,000,000 Galleons!!!

"Potter, I love you."

"Oh, I know that. It took you so long to admit the obvious."

"Potter, I hate you."

"I know that too."

"Do you think you know everything?"

"Of course not! But I can see the obvious."

"Potter, sometimes I want to throttle you."

"I am pregnant here, Malfoy! And you, as a good would-be father, should be taking care of me."

"And what can I do for you, would-be mother?"

"Shut up!"

Draco dreamed that all the worries of the world were being piled onto him. When it became too much, he woke up. As it turned out, both of his family members - Harry and Godric, were using him as a pillow.

A small smile crossed Draco's features; it quickly turned into a vicious one, though.

"POTTER! WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS? YOU SAID YOU'D CONSTRUCTED WARDS AGAINST MY HARASSMENTS! WHAT ABOUT YOURS?"
