- Author's Note:
- Thank you to all to thoes who will be reading my storie, to JK Rowling if not for her, none of this would be possible and to my friend Kelsey, who her character will be appearing in this story!
I was attending the Salem Institute of Magic and Witchcraft for young witches and wizards, and I was the top of my class. I was a very good chaser on my Quidditch team, much better than the boys were on my house team. I lived and breathed the sport, Quidditch. It was possibly the best game that could be played. When I was on my broom, My Lightning Fire (The latest model at Brooms and Battens) everything was right in the world. I had everything at my fingertips, good grades, good career in mind, and then any boy in the school was at my pick. I had been the latest model on Teen Witch Magazine, sporting Madam Milkins (all the way from England!) newest sensations, and was even in YQW (Young Quidditch Women) for our latest victories. My parents were fantastic, loving supportive, everything a parent could really be. They were masters of dragons, fighting them off, taming them and knowing and learning everything about them. They were the best in the USA, the land of the free and the home of the brave. But it was no longer free and brave, for a dark shadow had now crept across our beautiful lives, and it effected my live one summer evening in July.... My parents, Ted and Beverly Weasly, had been called on a Dragon raid in Canada a week before.
School had just ended and I had left behind yet another wonderful year wining the Quidditch cup and the house cup, and was looking forward to my normal summer vacation in Italy, but as always visiting my cousin Ron and his family before hand. I was excited to hear about his friend Harry, who even over in America we knew all about him and his concurring and conquest of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, not to mention was he a fantastic seeker. I also wanted to meet their friend Hermione Granger. She sounded like a very interesting girl-a little bossy but she had always helped Ron and Harry through everything and sounded like a great friend. Ron was quite taken with her.
I was sitting at home, watching my favorite new show "Friends" even though they were all muggles, I still loved to watch it. It was then that I heard a strange knock at the window, I was a little freaked and the popcorn that had been in my lap had flown everywhere over the sofa. Just in case I grabbed my wand ready to defend myself against someone either very stupid or someone meaning business.
But in the place of the person I was suspecting stood an owl, and a very ugly one at that. The owl was a black raven color and it had deep red eyes it was like none that I had never seen before. In its beak it held an envelope that matched his feathers, no markings were on it, just splattered mud.
"Lovely...this doesn't look to good..." I took the envelope, and the owl giving me an evil glare before truing out the window, screeched and flew away. I thought it could have been a letter for mum and dad, for they received very strange letters all the time concerning dragons. But something was telling me to open it, so I turned off the TV and sat in the huge chair that was usually my mothers. I didn't like the feeling I was getting from the letter I could sense these things, but this time all I could feel was a sense of fear dripping from its edges.
I ripped the seal of the envelope, of which I didn't recognize, and out fell a letter, crumpled, mud covers and splatter with something red.... Was that blood? I read the scribbled handwriting, as tears clouded my eyes, it was my father's handwriting.
Gia, my darling- we wanted to tell you how much we love you and how proud we are of our beautiful daughter. Please baby be strong-for by the time you get this, it will be to late for us. Voldermort-somehow has traveled from Europe and has come to America. We were just finishing up the raid when he appeared, he took no prisoners and all around us all our companions were killed in front of our eyes. He left your mother and I together for we had hid from him, trying to apparate with the dragons, but it was to late. He had come back to reclaim the animals that had once obeyed him...he first took your mother. She told me to tell you that she loved you...that you were the most wonderful daughter she could have ever hoped for, that she will always be with you, that you always made her proud. I was attacked, but just as he shouted the curse the dragons burst forth, knocking him out of the way and the curse hit me in the legs. I knew I had to find this letter, to tell you baby, my darling Gia, that I love you-we will always be with you, be strong, you will be in good hands. Please baby, forgive us, we tried to get back to you...
Daddy
I could no longer see tears poured uncontrollably through my eyes, it seemed as thought they were running through my body, anger sadness and fear ran through my body and I screamed and cried for what seemed like forever. I moved through out the house looking at all the beautiful things that filled our home. The pictures, the mysterious and wonderful magical instruments and pieces of art that filled each room, and the beautiful scales and eggs of dragons that were held in a glass case in the study. In a rage and numbing pain and sorrow I walked through the house, over and over again trying to prove to myself that this wasn't true, that they were just in their room, or the study. It couldn't believe it-this cant be true! It couldn't be true! They were perfect they had never done anything to harm anyone...why...why?
I sat once again on the couch, even though it was painful to make the slightest movements. I picked up the letter and the envelope it was held in, and could feel something heavy in it. I dumped its contents onto the table in front of the large overstuffed couch-my parents wedding rings, mothers locket and fathers watch and one last thing I didn't recognize. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen it was a delicate necklace that was so intricate I couldn't imagine some wizard making it. In my delirium I picked it up, and warmth spread through my body. I clasped it onto my neck, but just as it clasped together it caught on my finger and the scratch ran from my thumb to wrist, no pain just shock, it didn't bleed but it shut itself up and immediately healed.
But as I looking at the fortune on the table memories flooded through me, and the cruel realization that her parents were...gone, rushed through me like poison pulsing through my veins. I cried once again, but this was like I had never cried before. The world was crying with me-through the house thunder echoed, and I cried until I could cry no more and through my pain I fainted into a dreamless sleep.
Many people were watching over her that night...but sadly they could not have stopped the tragedies...but one who had been looking over her was someone she would meet in time, in fate and who was just about to wake up now...
Harry woke with a start pain was coursing through his head like a drill was being pounded into it. He muffled a shout into his pillow not to wake the Dursleys, he had done that many times the past week. He had woken up at the same time every morning, with the same pain pounding into his head. He had been having the same terrible nightmare, every night for last week.
It started out with a happy couple taming dragons with ease, then a terrible screech would fill the picture, green flames would blow everywhere and there would stand Voldermort, or as Harry knew him-Tom Riddle. He killed the others around the couple without mercy, and left the couple for the last attack. The wife was the first target and the husband...and then the dream switched into sunshine, he saw a beautiful American girl, flying on her broom, then a flash and she would be smiling at him. She looked so much like Ron...her red hair, freckles and green eyes, then she would be sobbing on the couch in her house, or at least that is what he guessed, and he would try and comfort her. Then it would flash again and his scar would burn, and there he would be sitting on his bed.
This night was no different for the rest he had awoken with the same pain and had awoken from the same dream. What did it mean? Who was the girl? And why did she look so much like Ron and why did he feel that he had to help her? How were they connected? Thoughts puzzled his mind as he sat in the bleak twilight, he had looked at his clock and he was startled, he had been fifteen years old for over five hours now.
As you could tell, Harry James Potter was no ordinary fifteen-year-old boy. Oh no he was far from it. He was a young wizard at Hogwarts School of witchcraft and wizardry, and he was the mortal enemy of Voldermort-the most feared wizard in the wizarding world. He had defeated him when he was just a baby, with a single touch of his mother he had changed the world, with the help of his closest friends he had lived safely through the most testing things, things that most adult wizards never had to face in their lives. Although to Harry this was just his normal life, and to him he was content waiting for the day when he had to face his foes again. He was Harry, just harry.
He looked out the window and watched the sunrise sparkle over the net houses on and around Privet Drive, and as he watched the sun spread over his room, he saw five owls flying quickly towards his window.
"Ah, right on time!" Harry said to himself, smiling. Ever since he had gone to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry his birthdays had never gone unnoticed. He always had received cakes and cards, and other gifts, which he cherished more than anything. It was one of the only things he looked forward to during the summers besides going back to Hogwarts, summers were never very fun which was another little item that set him away from other normal children. As the five owls quickly flew towards him, his excitement grew and the thoughts of the dream were pushed back into the corner of his mind. Today was going to be a very good birthday.
