Clairvoyance and its Consequences

By Fiery Punk Princess

Chapter 1_______________________________________________________________

The night was cold and dark. The trees rustled in the evening wind and the river lapped against the bank. A large mass of dark, stormy clouds floated across the starless sky, threatening to let the rain held within them fall as they covered up the eerily yellow full moon.

A young woman in her early twenties sat at the river's edge with tears running silently and slowly down her pale cheeks from her wholesome, chestnut eyes. Amongst the foot-long grass behind her lay the body of a man around the same age, ice cold and as lifeless as a skeleton. His eyes stood wide open with shock and fear with a trickle of dry blood along his brow, evidently from some unseen wound, hidden behind his thick, auburn hair.

Every limb of the woman violently shook as she turned to look at her dead husband, the sight causing her to sob so hard she felt it was impossible for her to stop and a sickening feeling crept into the region of her stomach.

"Do you wish to meet the same death, Krista?" asked a cold, high-pitched voice from the bushes behind her.

The woman, Krista, being frozen in shock, didn't dare to look but instead stared into the surface of the rippled water in front of her. She listened carefully and frightfully as footsteps approached behind. A lump rose within her throat as she watched the shadow of a tall man near, until he was standing directly behind her, his reflection now joining hers in the water.

Krista whimpered, taking in the ghostly white face with slits as nostrils where a nose should've been, a thin, lipless mouth above a pointed chin and eyes, round, narrowed and evil eyes, red within their sockets. If she hadn't been so scared that it paralised every bone and muscle in her body, she would've screamed with all her strength and attempted to run for her life.

A cruel smile curved Lord Voldemort's mouth and he stared back at Krista in the reflection. "It really is a pity that I shall be murdering the very last of the Noble family tonight," he said in that same eerily cold and slightly high-pitched voice.

A single, silent tear ran down Krista's cheek, unknowing that it shall be the last to fall from her eyes, as the Dark Lord raised his wand and took a step back, still staring at her unmoving form.

"Avada Kedavra!" Voldemort hissed with hardly any effort and, without a care, he Disapparated, leaving Krista lying at the river's bank, her eyes closed and a single tear streak lining her pale face until it dried in the night's air.

Hermione Granger sat up in bed abruptly, sending something flying but honestly not caring. Her breathing was ragged and a cold sweat glistened on her forehead as she ran her fingers through her large mass of bushy brown hair. She looked around her, taking in the emerald green curtains shielding the bed she sat in from the view of the room beyond.

Taking a deep, calming breath, Hermione wiped the sweat from her face and looked down at her sleeping boyfriend, Draco Malfoy. She smiled as she realised that it had in fact been Draco's arm that she had sent flying in her sudden wake.

Hermione sighed and ran a single finger along Draco's flawless, pale and smooth cheek and slowly bent down so her lips met his softly, causing a tiny, drowsy moan to exit his mouth. He stirred, not opening his eyes and reached around until his large hand found Hermione's small one and he entwined their fingers together happily. He opened his eyes slowly, revealing their swirling grey depths and looked up at Hermione with a smile curving his pink lips. Slowly, he guided her face down to meet his in another kiss, this one deeper. Hermione moaned and rolled onto her back with Draco lying on his side against her, still kissing.

After a minute, he broke the kiss briefly and looked at her. "I liked the way you woke me last time better," he smirked down at her. Hermione narrowed her eyes slightly and looked at him accusingly. "Of course, I liked this way as well, but really, nothing can beat oral sex as an early morning wake up call," he said.

Hermione slapped him lightly and pulled the sheet back up over her naked chest. "I would've repeated the same treat if I hadn't had another nightmare," she confessed lightly, sighing slightly as she remembered the events of this one.

"Another one?" Draco said, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her closer. "It didn't by any chance involve the Dark Lord and a future victim did it?"

Hermione sighed again. "Yes," she said, "they all have lately. Nearly every morning this month, I've woken up from a new vision, every single one involving Voldemort. I have to hurry and tell Dumbledore as soon as possible, but even he can't keep up with them. I just wish I never had the gift of clairvoyance."

It had been five months since Hermione had awoken from what she suspected was her first "Dream of Clairvoyance" as books called it. It had been the contents of that single dream that had caused Hermione's life to change in more ways than one. Had Draco's now-dead father never brutally bullied him and left him to wander by her neighbourhood searching for help, Hermione would never have bothered getting to know Draco or find love within him. Ever since her dreams began, her world had turned around, but if it weren't for her dreams, Draco would in fact be dead.

Hermione shivered slightly as she remembered that fateful night several weeks ago, in which Draco and Lucius had verbally dueled, each trying hard to prove how powerful Draco was with a wand. The result for Lucius had been getting hit with the fatal Avada Kedavra curse and sent straight to the core of hell.

Draco leant down and kissed the top of Hermione's head. "Who was the victim this time?" he asked, tracing kisses along her hairline.

Hermione closed her eyes, enjoying Draco's kisses. "A young woman. Krista Noble I think her name was."

"Ah, the Noble family," Draco said, nodding and placing one last kiss upon her forehead. "Close friends of Cornelius Fudge and related to some of the finest Aurors of the time I believe. Only two left - Krista and her husband Kurtis, the Noble family heir. Father had had connections with Kurtis's father."

"There was also a man dead behind her. Perhaps that was Kurtis," Hermione said softly with a very weak smile. "He had red-brown hair."

Draco nodded and looked at her carefully. "Are you OK?" he asked, concerned.

Hermione shrugged. "You know how these dreams effect me," she whispered in a weak voice. "I doubt I'll ever get used to them. I hate having to re-tell them as well as I possibly can straight after and I hate it even more when it's too late for Dumbledore or the rest of the Order to do anything."

Draco smiled and kissed her softly and slowly on the lips, trying to make Hermione feel better. He hesitantly broke away and saw the blissful expression on Hermione's face. "I love you, you know that?" he asked.

"I do know that, yes," Hermione said, kissing him. "And I love you back to the fullest extent."

Draco kissed her again, this time with a fiercer passion. Hermione moaned and kissed him back with the same intensity, enjoying the pleasant chills that ran through her entire body at the feel of his lips on hers. She could never get bored of this.

Too soon, Draco broke away to look at her, a cheeky smirk playing on his lips. "Would I be right in believing that you wish to join me in the shower this morning?" he asked, leaning in to brush his lips across hers again and slowly moving along her jawbone. "I daresay that after our very hot and steamy night, that deliciously naked body of yours could do with a freshen up."

Hermione sighed as his lips traced over a pleasantly sensitive part of her neck. "Yes, Mr Malfoy, I can join you for a shower ... but a quick one. I have a dream report to write and send to Dumbledore."

Draco smirked and led the way happily.

Hermione stood in front of the ugly stone gargoyle that guarded the entrance to the headmaster's office with one of her re-claimed best friends, Harry Potter. Professor Dumbledore had called them, being Head Boy and Girl, there for their usual weekly meeting about Lord Voldemort and his most recent plans of action.

"Sugar Quill," Harry said clearly. He and Hermione watched patiently as the gargoyle sprung to life and jumped to the side as the wall behind it scrapped aside like a door and allowed them access to the revolving staircase that would take him up to Dumbledore's office.

Coming to a stop in front of the large door of Dumbledore's office, Harry knocked upon it and he and Hermione had the doors magically open in front of them. They entered slowly and came to a stop in front of Dumbledore's vacant desk and took their usual seats and looked around carefully as they always did before Dumbledore arrived. Perhaps it was the unique atmosphere surrounding them, but they never spoke before a meeting while they waited for Dumbledore to arrive.

The sound of the camouflaged door directly behind the desk creaking open broke the silence and Dumbledore appeared with Professors McGonagall and Snape directly behind him. It was a weekly ritual Harry and Hermione had become used to - Dumbledore always had a short, private Order of the Phoenix meeting with inner-school, intermediate members McGonagall and Snape before discussing anything with Harry and Hermione.

Dumbledore smiled down at Harry and Hermione politely, the familiar twinkle dancing in his blue eyes behind his half-moon spectacles while he bid goodbye to his employees. They left quietly before Dumbledore took his seat behind the desk, tidying the stack of parchment that sat in front of him.

"I thank you both for coming again this week," he said pleasantly with a small smile. "I haven't much to say this week, though I would like to make note that we were able to save Kurtis and Krista Noble, who, as Hermione should know, would've met their deaths Wednesday night to the hands of Voldemort. We reached their cottage in East London where they lived together early Wednesday morning and transferred them to Grimmauld Place until this morning. You will be happy to know that they are very much safe.

"That is, both fortunately and unfortunately, the only news I can really share with you as there isn't much to share with you," he continued in the same pleasant and friendly voice. "However, I do have one further thing to discuss with you. As I told you last week, Professors Snape and McGonagall and I have discussed the suggestion that the students involved in any form of work or support of the Order shall be transferred from their respective House quarters to their own, group quarters. Earlier in the week, we, along with the rest of the Order agreed that this is a much-needed aspect of keeping our secrecy.

"We have therefore, as you may be happy to hear, created a set of quarters within the castle specifically for your needs," Dumbledore continued still with Harry and Hermione listening attentively. "Yourselves, Ron and Ginny Weasley and Draco Malfoy shall move there first tomorrow and shall any other students who become seriously involved in the future, you are authorised to notify me if I am not aware, and they shall join you as soon as possible."

Harry and Hermione stayed silent, simply nodding their head in ascent. Dumbledore bowed his head slightly.

"I have nothing more to say," he said, "and you can feel welcome to leave if you have no questions involving anything. I thank you again for coming."

Harry and Hermione bid goodbye politely and headed out of the room, not a single word exiting their mouths.
