Thirteenth Day of the Seventh Month of the Year
What a day! I must admit I feel rather silly writing a journal, but I suppose it needs to be done at times. Today I have learned something far more important than anything before. I learned that I have the power of magic.
Earlier today, I was outside reading about alchemy when my parents came out.
"Happy birthday, Salazaar!" My mother's voice rang out.
I looked up. There was my mother, standing in front of me, hiding something behind her back.
"Thank you!"
"I want you to open this." She handed me a package, a thin one.
I took it curiously and opened it. Inside was what I thought to be a stick. I picked it up and sparks flew out of it.
"Thank goodness, Salazaar!"
"For what?"
"That having the power."
"What power? Mother, I'm confused."
"You see, I'm a witch. Not an evil one, but a good one. I have been one since I was born, but I only discovered it at eleven. Your father is not magical and that is why I was wondering if you were going to be a wizard. I'm glad you are."
"Mother, explain to me about the magic." I was curious to know about it so she explained everything to me.
To put what she told me in a nutshell, magic is all over. No one knows where it started, but it did and many people have it. Many are shunned or killed because of it. Therefore, most try to keep it hidden. It transfers from parent to child. And in rare occasions, even though the parents aren't magical, the child will be. That, to me is weird. Anyway, that is the explanation in a package.
Well, we still haven't told my father, as he is busy working. I plan on telling him tomorrow. I don't know what his reaction would be. I mean, he did marry my mother even after he knew what she was. I guess that means he will accept me. However, my mother says that he is a bit fearful of what she can do. But he talks to her and to me. He could've left but didn't and I respect him for it. I am not used to writing this much and am rather hungry.

Fifteenth Day of the Seventh Month of the Year
I told my father yesterday about my power. Here is the conversation.
"Father?"
"Yes, son?"
"I have something to tell you."
"What is it?"
"I am like Mother. I am a wizard."
He looked at me. "Are you really?"
"Yes, Father. I am magical." And he gave me a funny look.
"I see, son. I'm going to tell you straight out to be careful about how you use it. I refuse to see my son get into trouble because of it!"
"Yes, Father."
"Now go. I shall talk to you later. I must finish up my work." I left the room, perplexed.
And now here I am in my room. I've been thinking about what my father said. He is right I know... but he sounded fearful of me. I don't think he will avoid me... I hope he won't. But I know he will never think of me the same. And that hurts. Why does becoming a wizard change who you are? And why can't some people just accept that? I wonder.... Too confused to continue.

Salazaar Slytherin
Ron gasped audibly! Salazaar Slytherin a half- blood? What the hell was Malfoy going on about pure-bloods when the founder of his house was a half- blood? Malfoy was such a bloody idiot! And Ron could now prove what was obviously true. All the crap he had done to Hermione was false... he had had a right to try to curse him back in second year. But he had to read on... what would have made Salazaar such a loony as to want to get rid of Muggle- borns?

Today I went to visit a man I've been hearing tales of. His name is Godric Gryffindor and he was rumored to be a wizard as well. I asked around for a Godric Gryffindor and was directed down a dirt lane. As they directed me, I sensed their fear.
I walked up to a small house, which was indicated as Godric's home. I knocked on the door.
"Yes?" A tall man with auburn hair stood at the entrance.
"I am Salazaar Slytherin," I said.
"Godric Gryffindor-- what would you like, sir?" He was very polite.
"As you may tell, I am a newcomer and have heard tales about you." I replied, cautiously.
"Tales? What kind of tales?" He seemed puzzled.
"That you can do magic. They speak of it with fear in their voices. I would like to know if it is true. You see, I too can do magic and I would like to know if there are more of me, so to speak." I replied rather quickly, perhaps too quickly.
He seemed happy at this information and told me how he discovered his magic. I heard his tale and told him mine. I realized, looking out the window that I had to leave.
"I must leave now. I hope we shall meet again, Godric." I extended my hand.
He took it, responding, "Yes, I do too. Let us continue to be friends, for one day we might need it." And so we parted in friendship. I am glad to have found a friend. He seems like a person who can help me in meeting my goals. I am quite pleased with the events of today.

Salazaar SlytherinTwenty-First Day of the Seventh Month of the Year
I have decided to begin a school for witches and wizards. They need a school to help them advance their magic. I am doing this with the help of Godric Gryffindor and two women, Helga Hufflepuff and Rowena Ravenclaw. We are all headed towards the same goal of helping students become better at their talents. I only hope we succeed.

Salazaar SlytherinRon gulped. That was eerie. He knew about the meeting of Slytherin and Gryffindor, but didn't know they were such good friends. Ron had to know what happened to make Slytherins and Gryffindors hate each other. There had to be a reason. And he couldn't wait to read on. Next up Section II, Chapter I and II- The Meeting of the Founders and the Founding of Hogwarts.
