Er, hi. I'm Harry. What, already you're interrupting me? How are they supposed to know who I am when you've been talking the whole time? I'm just introducing myself, Draco, it's not against the law. Now be quiet, it's my turn. You may be wondering where I was while Draco was plotting his 'ingenious' plan. You may also be curious about why we're telling it together. Well, we're telling it together because we are together. A... a couple. You know? I do not look cute when I blush, Draco, stop! Yeah. But it's not like we were one at that part of the story, we're just one now. So it doesn't really matter. Forget I said anything.
Anyway, while Draco was unwrapping his computer and thinking up his plan, I was in the Gryffindor common room being lectured by Hermione for procrastinating on my homework. Nothing spectacular or anything, and it was actually awhile before I got, quite accidentally, involved in The Plan.
So really, the only reason I'm talking to you at all is to give you some background information, which Draco conveniently forgot. As usual.
At the time the story started, we were all in 6th year. Voldermort had returned, and no one had any ideas of how we were going to beat him. Except maybe Dumbledore, but sometimes I just get this feeling that he knows everything and is just waiting for the rest of us to catch on. MAYBE he eats a lemon drop per every minute we all remain clueless! Or not. So he doesn't count. Sirius was still in hiding - I occasionally got letters from him - and everything else was normal. Almost. Because Draco and I didn't hate each other any more.
It wasn't a conscious decision to stop hating each other. More like, one day I looked at him during lunch and he looked back, and I suddenly wondered - why hate him? I mean, what a waste of time, really. It took too much energy to muster up any hate for him when all I had was focused on someone else. A few someones, in fact. So I sort of shrugged, or something like that, and he did the same.
And that was our truce.
Draco thinks it lacked drama but I think it was perfect.
He still insulted me and my friends - and still does, the bastard - but they were different kind of insults, and only Ron bothered to get angry about them. More often than not, when we passed in the hallways and we were alone, we'd sort of nod at each other, and walk on. Not friends, certainly, but not enemies either.
And that's about it.
Yes you prat, I'm done now. Was it so horrible? See, I was right. Should listen to me more often. Hermione says the background is very important - it's called the setting, and you can't have a story without it. The setting is supposed to come first, but I guess it's okay this way too. Your turn tomorrow.
