The Sleepless Nights

Both families arrived at the burrow just in time for dinner. Erika and Nathan were both greeted by their grandparents as they ran into the house and jumped onto their favourite sofa, fighting over their favourite spot.

When dinner time came, they all sat down in an orderly fashion, said grace and began eating. Erika and Nathan both raced through their dinner, and to no surprise, Erika won.

Soon it got late so they decided to spend the night at the burrow. Molly Weasley got their beds ready and sent them up to bed. Erika and Nathan both took their uncle's Fred and George's old bedroom. Harry and Ginny took Ginny's old room, and Ron and Hermione both took Ron's old room.

It was a rough night, for Erika, she tossed and turned. She kept seeing the same dream, and each time it got more, and more, intense. Erika woke with a fright, and decided she didn't want to sleep anymore. She sat up in her bed, and looked out the window.

"Can't sleep?" Nathan asked unexpectedly.

Erika turned abruptly, to see Nathan sitting up in his bed.

"Oh, it's you. Nah, can't sleep, and you?" she replied with a sigh.

"I'm just worried about you...you need to get some sleep Erika," he whispered.

"But I can't!" she said.

"How 'bout if I lay next to you? Will that calm you?" he asked kindly.

She nodded to him, as he crawled over to her bed and gave her a warm hug. Although she had the company of Nathan, she still couldn't sleep. If she slept she would just keep having the same dream.

The sun began to rise, as the birds started chirping. Erika had her head resting on her arms and was leaning on the window sill looking out at the backyard. She heard Nathan get up and yawn, but didn't bother to turn.

"Good morning," he yawned at her.

"Mornin'," she replied unenthusiastically.

She turned and looked at him, she was so tired she had bags under eyes.

"C'mon lets get ready for breakfasts" she said ignoring the look on his face, as she put a tank top over her pyjama top, and put her shoes on. She turned around and looked at Nathan who was still looking at her.

"Can you hurry or I'll meet you downstairs?"

"Oh, yeah sure," he said realizing she was ready. He got up put on his jumper and shoes and went to the door and waited next to her. Erika looked at him, smiled, opened the door and went downstairs.

"Morning, Grandma!" Erika exclaimed trying to sound enthusiastic.

"Morning, darling!" Grandma Weasley said giving her a kiss on the cheek.

Grandpa Weasley was already sitting at the table, eating his breakfast, and reading the Daily Prophet.

"Morning, Grandpa," she said as she began to eat her eggs.

"Morning," he said not looking up.

"Arthur, say a proper good morning to your grandchildren!" Grandma Weasley said sternly giving him a nudge in the back.

"Oh, Good morning darlings, how did you sleep?" he said trying to sound enthusiastic.

"Uh..."Erika began.

"...It was great!" Nathan finished for her, smiling.

Erika looked at Nathan and thanked him with a smile and finished up her eggs.

Once Nathan and Erika had both finished their breakfast they went outside, and began to chase the gnomes in the backyard. One of the gnomes started chasing Nathan, and Erika sat there laughing before she went to help him.

"That was funny!" she laughed.

"Don't laugh! I'd like to see you get chased by a gnome!" he said sternly then began to laugh.

As they began walking to the house they saw their parents getting ready to leave, and ran to say goodbye to their grandparents. Once they were all ready they mounted their brooms, pushed off the ground, and headed for their own homes.

When Erika, Harry and Ginny arrived at their house, which wasn't too far from the burrow, there were two owls waiting for them on the kitchen windowsill. One was for Erika from Natalie; the other was for Harry from work. They were calling him into the Ministry for a case review, since he was Head of the Auror Department.

Erika said goodbye to her dad, and went up to her room to read her letter.

Hey Hottie,

I was worried about you so I thought I'd write. Hope you haven't been having any dreams again. Have you told your parents yet?

Well I'll see you tomorrow at the station, please Erika tell your parents, they would want to know.

Much love

Nat

Erika thrust the letter onto her bed, and hung her head into her hands. She was starting to get really annoyed at Nathan and Natalie being worried about her. If she thought the dream meant anything, she would have told her parents. But then a thought came to her, "What if I am having these dreams because someone wants me to have an idea about what will happen to me."

She pulled out some pen and parchment, and began writing a reply to Natalie.

Hey Annoying!

I know you and Nathan are worried but please leave it to me. I promise you, I will tell them before we get onto that train tomorrow. I am quite capable of worrying for myself.

Lots of love

Erika

She folded the letter, and tied it to her owl Snitch's leg. Snitch was Erika's owl, it was white and snowy and had a few dark spots on its tail, and was a boy.

She stroked Snitch's feathers, gave him an owl treat, and opened the window for him.

"Take this to Natalie and if I'm not here tomorrow morning, you know how to go to Hogwarts," she said as the bird spread its wings and flew off.

Erika was very tired but she was still scared of going to sleep in case she had another dream. She couldn't stay awake any longer; slowly she drifted off into a deep sleep, which was very unusual.

Erika awoke in the morning having had one of the best nights sleep in a very long time. She wondered why she didn't have the dream and thought if she would even tell her parents about the dream she did have.

She got up walked over to her bathroom, had a shower, and got dressed into some jeans and a skivvy. She put on her shoes, and shoved any last minute things into her trunk. She went downstairs dragging her trunk, and left it at the front door, just as her dad walked in.

"Oh, good morning sweetheart!" He smiled.

"Morning Dad, have you been out all night?" she asked.

"Yes we had some business to deal with at the Ministry, nothing to worry about of course," he said patting her on the back and walking into the kitchen.

She stood there for a moment thinking, about what might have kept her Dad at the Ministry, then didn't bother and followed her dad into the kitchen. Once they all had finished their breakfast, they headed out.

They drove to Kings Cross Station, were they would go through the barrier of platform 9¾. When they arrived, Erika saw Nathan and Natalie pulling up in their cars as well.

She went to meet them both, smiling widely. They had weird looks on their faces.

"What's up with you?" Natalie and Nathan both asked.

"Well, nothing I just had one of very few, good sleeps, last night," she said continuing to smile.

"That's great...but you still are going to tell your parents about the dream, aren't you?" Natalie asked curiously.

"Well I was thinking about it this morning, maybe I won't have to tell them if they don't continue," Erika said with a look of uncertainty.

"No, no, no, you HAVE to tell them, it's about the dream and you having them, it's not about if you can't sleep and now you can," Natalie said in her know-it-all tone.

"Okay, fine!"

"Good!" both Nathan and Natalie agreed. They walked to the barrier, with their parents carrying their trunk's and talking amongst themselves.
