A month later, Ginny sat in the library with Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

She stared vacantly at the blank parchment. Ginny was supposed to write an essay for Snape on the ingredients of Veritaserum, but she found it very difficult to concentrate when Draco was sitting a table away from her with Crabbe and Goyle.

Ginny looked up at her friends. Hermione's quill was scribbling at a mile a minute about uses of dragon blood.

Harry was lazily copying notes from the book propped up in front of him.

Ron was gazing across the room at a certain Ravenclaw who was staring at the ceiling as if it were the most fascinating thing she had ever seen.

Ginny giggled just loud enough for Hermione to hear. She looked up with a mingled look of annoyance and confusion. Ginny motioned to Ron, who was still staring at Luna.

Hermione rolled her eyes and returned to her essay without a word.

Ginny glanced over at Draco, who must have felt her gaze upon him, because he looked up.

He leaned across the table to Crabbe and Goyle and whispered something to them before getting up from the table and walking toward her table.

Ginny's heart beat hard in her chest. He wouldn't dare come over now, not with everyone there.

She let out a sigh of relief as he walked right past her and rounded the corner of the bookshelf.

Ginny spotted a crumpled up piece of parchment on the ground next to her. She "accidentally" dropped her quill on the floor and took a lot of time bending down. She picked the piece of parchment up and started to read it.

I've known you for six years, the note said. I've heard my parents call your parents, traitors and a disgrace to the name of wizard for my entire life. But I've loved you for exactly one month, and I know that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to share my life with you, Ginny. Please tell me you feel the same way. Love, Draco

Ginny smiled and quietly stuffed the note in her bag. She rose to her feet, wanting nothing more than to talk to Draco.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione immediately looked up as if to ask where she was going.

"I need a book," Ginny said.

The trio returned to their studies and Ginny walked around the bookcase that Draco had disappeared behind.

"Shh..." he whispered, grabbing her hand.

He led her down the aisles of books until they reached the furthest corner.

Ginny immediately kissed him sweetly on the lips. "That was beautiful."

"Thanks," Draco said with a smile. "I wasn't sure what to say, but once I started writing, I knew exactly how to say it."

"It was perfect," Ginny agreed.

"I want to give you something," Draco said, reaching into his pocket.

"What is it?" Ginny asked curiously.

"Close your eyes," Draco whispered.

Ginny obediently closed her eyes. Draco moved behind her and put something around her neck.

"Open your eyes," Draco said.

Ginny's hand immediately shot to her neck. Hanging around it on a silver chain was a Slytherin class ring.

"It's... gorgeous," Ginny said staring at the green gem with a snake in the middle.

"I want you to marry me one day, Ginny Weasley."

"But our families -"

"Will deal with it," Draco interrupted. "My parents do not control my destiny. I won't let them. They may be able to make me get the Dark Mark, but I won't let them keep me from you."

"Draco, you have to understand that I can't keep this from my family forever," Ginny said.

"And I won't make you," he told her. "Whenever you want to tell them, I will be more than happy to stand by you. They have to understand that I'm not my father."

"No," Ginny said. "You're not."

"When we get married I want everyone there," he told her. "Your parents, your brothers, Granger, and Potter. I want a real family."

"They'll understand. They have to."
