How Beautiful

By: Nikki Ramos

It's Katie Bell's last and final year at Hogwarts. It's also her last game of Quidditch. After the match, she goes to the lake and ponders the one that she once loved, but he never returned. He has graduated from Hogwarts, but she still thinks of him everyday. What happens when he suddenly shows up one starry night by the lake? Katie/Oliver

"Katie Bell scores once again! That girl is on a role. And not to mention that she's rather good looking as well-"

"Thomas!" Professor McGonagall warned.

"Sorry Professor. I only speak the truth." Dean Thomas said. Since Lee Jordan had graduated, Dean took over the announcing. He even decided that the dread locks would look good along with it. "So that makes the score Gryffindors 80, Slytherin 60."

Katie turned her broom back around and gave a high-five to Ginny Weasley, who was one of the new chasers. The other girl was Parvati Patil. This was a surprise when she said she wanted to try out, but she was actually really good. So they kept her. The two new beaters where the Creevey brothers. Their aim was not always accurate, but they were still good.

Katie then started to race after Jonathan Adams, a 5th year Slytherin chaser who had the possession of the Quaffle. She sped up o her Nimbus 2003 and caught up with him when he was about ten metres from Ron's posts. She knocked the ball out of his grasp, and raced towards the other end. A Bludger was sent at her, but she ducked her head just a second before it would have hit. She was about 20 metres from the posts when she spotted Ginny setting close to the highest hoop, looking at Katie with anticipation. The Keeper was watching Katie closely while glancing at Ginny. Katie smirked as at the last second she tossed the Quaffle to Ginny who tossed into the hoop with ease.

"And an amazing score by the Gryffindor Seeker's girlfriend, Ginny Weasley!" Ginny blushed to the tip of her roots, but said nothing as she sped back down the field. "The score is now 90 to 60."

This time, Slytherin scored on Ron. Only because he was also trying to not get his head knocked off by an on coming Bludger, so Katie couldn't blame him. Parvati was given possession of the Quaffle as the girls performed what they called The Love Triangle because they tossed it around quickly in the shape of a triangle. Katie took the Quaffle in her arms and made a circle around the hoop before tossing it to Parvati who threw it into the hoop with all her might, but it was caught. Katie cursed under her breath as she prepared to go back down the field again.

"Oh! A bad catch made by the Slytherin Keeper, Zabini," Dean said.

"Dean Thomas!" Professor McGonagall said through clenched teeth.

"My deepest apologies Professor. Anyway, the score is sti - Wait! What's this? Harry and Malfoy are going after the Snitch!"

And as always, everyone, even the players, turned their attention to the two racing Seekers. They were speeding towards the ground where the glittering ball fluttered at the foot of one of the Gryffindor posts. They were neck-in-neck, both of their arms outstretched, but at the last second, Harry grabbed the snitch and pulled out of the dive, and zoomed up towards Ron. Draco pulled up, but jumped off his broom and threw it across the pitch.

The crowd erupted with cheers as Harry held the snitch up in his hand. Ron flew over and patted him on the back. "Gryffindor wins with a score of 210 to 60! Gryffindor wins the Quidditch Cup!" Dean announced, jumping up and down in the stand.

The team flew to the ground where Harry and Ron jumped off their brooms and gave each other a manly hug. Katie and Parvati ran over to Harry and kissed his cheeks. He blushed but just smiled. He turned to Ginny and embraced her, twirling her around a few times before setting her down again. Katie watched in a somewhat jealous state. But she quickly let it pass as Madam Hooch approached with the Quidditch Cup. She was about to hand it to Harry, but he stopped her.

"Give it to Katie," he said, nodding in her direction. Katie's eyes went wide as Harry smiled at her with an arm looped around Ginny's waist.

"Are you serious?" she asked him.

Harry nodded. "No one deserves it more than you. You've been playing longer than any of us. And it is your last year. So you deserve it."

Katie smiled broadly at him, which he returned. Madam Hooch handed Katie the trophy and soon, everyone was surrounding her. She was patted on the back, hugged, and congratulated for the longest time. She looked up to see the sun starting to set. Her smile faltered a bit, but nobody noticed. Soon the Creevey brothers announced that they were going to throw a party in the common room. Everyone then started to make their way to the castle. Katie on the other hand hung back as much as she could.

She handed the cup to Ginny before she picked up her broom and tossed it over her shoulder. "I'm going for a quick walk. I'll be up there in a minute."

Ginny's eyebrows furrowed, but she just nodded and grinned before running to catch up with Harry and the others. Katie turned and slowly made her way to her special spot by the lake. It was a spot that she had been going to since her first year at Hogwarts when she wanted to think or just get away. She was ecstatic that Gryffindor had won the Quidditch Cup. It was what she'd been wanting. But she just needed to get away and think. For there was something else that she wanted too.

When she got to her spot, she laid her broom down and lay on her back and stared up at the sky. The sun was now behind the horizon and the sky had turned several colours at once that made it look so beautiful. The first stars were starting to appear in the part of the sky that looked like it had been covered in a black velvet blanket. She smiled to herself as she put her hands behind her head and closed her eyes. She was lying there for a moment when she heard footsteps behind her. She just opened her eyes but didn't move. The footsteps stopped, but she didn't close her eyes again. She waited.

"Hello there," the voice said.

Katie recognized that voice. She had heard it so many times before. She hopped up and turned around, and sure enough, it was him.

"Oliver? Oliver Wood? What are you doing here?" she asked, running up to him and throwing her arms around his neck in an embrace. It only took a second for her to realize what she just did. She went to pull away, but before she could, he had wound his arms around her slim waist to return the hug.

"To see you of course," he whispered in her ear.

A chill went down Katie's spin as she pulled back to look into his gorgeous face. It was a good kind of chill. A kind of chill that she used to get when she used to be around him. For the longest time, she had a crush on him. As a matter of fact, ever since she had joined the Quidditch team. But in his last year of Hogwarts, her feelings started growing stronger for him. Although she never told him anything. They did become kind of like best friends though. They sat together during meals, and helped her with her studies in the common room. Sometimes they would just sit in front of the fire and talk about their day. They had become quite close. Than, he left. He graduated, and Katie was left alone.

"You came to see me?" she asked in disbelief.

Oliver nodded, still holding on to her. "Yea. I came to see one of my best friends. And I also her Quidditch match. She was very good. You're a very good captain," He gave her one of his signature smiles. She went weak at the knees, but he was still holding her so she didn't fall.

"Thank you. But really why are you here?" she asked him with a smirk.

Oliver sighed, let go of her, and walked past her a few steps and looked out over the lake. "Well, it still has to do with you, Katie. I came here to talk to you."

Katie raised her eyebrows. "Really? What for?" she asked him.

Oliver turned back to her, his hands in his pockets, and his head lowered. "To tell you something that I should have told you long time ago."

Katie walked over to him and put a hand on his shoulder. "Well whatever it is it can't be bad. Can it?" she asked him.

Oliver chuckled and looked into her sky blue eyes. "No. It's not bad. Although it will come as a surprise."

"Well...what is it?" she pushed.

"I can show you better than I can tell you," he said simply.

"Then show me," she said.

Oliver took a deep breath and slowly let it out. "Alright," he said. He took one hand out of his pocket, laid it against her cheek softly, leaned in and gently kissed her.

Katie gasped. She couldn't believe this. Her eyes went wide when his lips touched hers. His eyes were closed. She closed her eyes too and slipped her arms around his neck. Oliver brought his other hand to cradle her in the dip of her back, bringing her closer to him. The hand on her cheek went underneath her silky hair to cradle her head, bringing her head closer to hers.

He ran his tongue along her bottom lip and she made a soft sound before opening her mouth. Their tongues met and they both felt a vibe like lightening shoot through their body. His mouth soon left hers and found the smooth skin of her neck. Katie tossed her head back to allow him easier access. As he kissed, nipped, and suckled on her neck, his hands were roaming over her dangerous curves. Her fingers had wound themselves in the hair on the back of his neck. Katie gasped as he hit a sensitive spot on her neck. Oliver than knew that he found her weak spot. He didn't leave that spot for a minute, and Katie's breathing became shallower.

Soon, Oliver lifted his head to look at her face. She lifted her too and their eyes met. They were both gasping for breath. Katie licked her lips to savour every taste of him that he left. Oliver ran his tongue along the backside of his bottom lip and took a deep breath.

"I love you Katie. I've loved you since the year before I left Hogwarts. We had become such good friends and everything. You were like an answer to my prayers. You liked me for me. Not because I was a Quidditch captain, or because of how good I looked either. You liked me for me. And you have no idea how much I appreciated that. We shared so many interests and were always around each other. You were the best thing that ever happened to me. You have no idea how much I've missed you."

Katie's eyes were starting to tear up. She couldn't believe what was happening. Her dreams were coming true. All she really wanted was him. More than the Quidditch Cup. "Oliver, you have no idea how long I've wanted to hear those words from you. Because believe it or not, I've loved you for just as long as well. Longer even. You became my friend when I first got here considering I was the only girl sorted into Gryffindor in my year (AN-I don't know if this is true, but just play along with it). It seems like we both needed each other just at the right time." She smiled at him. She then felt a heavy weight against her. "What just happened?"

Oliver flushed slightly. "Your smile has always made me go weak at the knees," he replied quietly. But she heard him in the silence of the night.

Katie grinned. "Well that makes two of us." Oliver's brow furrowed. "What I mean is, your smile does that to me too. Earlier, if you weren't holding me, I would have fallen at your feet."

They both laughed lightly. Than Oliver cleared his throat. "So...err-does this mean that you'll be my girlfriend than?"

Katie's eyes widened once again and a lone tear escaped from her eye. She smiled at him once again and she felt that weight on her once again. "Yes. Of course I will."

Oliver smiled broadly and he had to literally catch Katie. "Whoa! Don't fall. I see what you mean now." They both laughed. "You have no idea how happy you've just made me Katie. I'm the luckiest guy in the world!" he said, shouting the last part.

Katie laughed and put a finger to his lips. "Shhh! Don't spoil the romantic silence." Oliver grinned and lightly kissed the finger against his lips. Katie's smile fell as she watched him. Kiss down her finger to her hand and lightly suckle the centre of her palm. He then looked back up into her sparkling eyes. "I love you, Oliver."

Oliver grinned and rested his forehead against hers. "I love you too, Katie."

They stood there in silence for a few minutes. Just holding each other close for warmth and comfort. Then Katie spoke. "Do you want to go back to the common room with me? The Gryffindors are throwing a celebration party."

Oliver looked upwards as if thinking, than looked back at Katie and smiled. "Of course. I could be delighted. Only if you'll go as my date," he added as an after thought.

Katie smiled. "Well you know, I was going to go with the squid, but you seem like a more interesting date. At least I can snog you and you won't suffocate me."

Oliver grinned and kissed her lips gently. "Well I don't know about that." They both chuckled, than Oliver took Katie's hand and they walked back to the castle.
