Devia Lupus

diabola13

Story Summary:
Scorpius Malfoy was always a loner. Why? That can be summed up in four words: Lucius Malfoy = Bastard. "Lucius Malfoy is the source of my problems. He's the reason that my father is dead, that I am not human, that I am scorned and shunned from almost everyone around me. And so? I, Scorpius Malfoy, a werewolf with vampire blood, am an outsider for life." And so, we follow Scorpius through his sixth year of annoying first years, annoying flowers, and annoying blue-haired squirts-as he puts it. And of course, there's always the annoying person trying to take over the world and recruit him for a follower....

Chapter 08 - Eyes

Author's Note:
PLEASE review? I'm desperate, I want to know what you think of it! Good, bad, suggestions for the plot or characters or anyting???? *my best buddy for life recently brought to my attention that they called Teddy Teddy LUPIN, not TONKS. Oh well. I like Teddy Tonks a bit better. Alliteration!

8-Eyes

I had just spotted Tonks leaning against a wall when my vision clouded over. I stopped short, blinking. My left eye, already completely blind, burned ferociously. My right eye's vision blurred, taking on a red tint. Tonks, seeing me stop, cut off from whatever he had been reading and stared curiously at me. At least, I assumed that it was curiously; I couldn't quite see him clearly at the moment.

"Aw, crud..." I hissed, blinking again. Teddy detached himself from the wall, leaving his book on the ground, and started towards me. I backed away slightly, he seemed so big!

"Are you crying, Malfoy?" he asked incredulously. I twisted my lip. How was I going to get out of this one?

"No!" I snapped. "...My vision is messed up." I figure the truth would work best in this circumstance.

Teddy studied me. When I felt my eyes blacken over, he gasped. "Merlin's beard..."

"Merlin cannot help me; Devil knows I've tried to ask." I hissed. I turned slightly. How was I to get to the Hospital Wing? I could barely see, let alone walk, through my dizziness.

I took a step forward, and swayed. "Fuck it!" I screamed. ALL I WANT IS A NORMAL LIFE!! Tonks grabbed my arm as I swayed. I cringed at his touch. Nobody was allowed to touch me...only Severus. Why was he touching me? I nervously attempted to shrug his hand off. It did no good.

"Come on, Malfoy. I'll help you up to the Hospital Wing," Teddy said. He seemed genuinely worried. Why?

"Don't touch me!" I hissed. My eyes went white, and my vision completely disappeared. I felt Teddy's hand slip away, before it came back, as well as his arm wrapped around my shoulder. I winced. It hurt...

"Come on, Malfoy!" Teddy said urgently. "Your eyes..."

"Yes," I snarled. "They're white and dripping blood. Get over it! LET GO OF ME!!" Tonks started pulling me forward, the arm around my shoulder preventing me from backing away. I stumbled, pitching forward, and his hand caught me.

His hands tightened, and I gasped in pain. "Let-go-of-me!" I whispered feebly. Teddy Tonks wasn't known to be stubborn - so why wouldn't he leave me alone?

My head rolled forward. "It hurts..." I sobbed.

"What hurts?" I could almost see Teddy's white face.

"Ow..." I slumped forward, my head threatening to explode with pain.

"And this is what you get, my boy, for disobeying my orders." Lucius' voice surrounded me, captured me and wouldn't let me go. I was vaguely aware of Teddy Tonks shouting my name...

"I didn't!" I protested.

Pain engulfed me, like thousands of needles being stabbed into my body, hundreds of knives.

"Forgive me," I gasped. "In what way have I disobeyed your rule?"

I could feel Lucius' cold eyes bearing into me. "You have apologized. Have I not always taught you to make them come to you? You are a disgrace!"

Thousands of whips...

"Even my son was a better man than you..."

Hundreds of curses...hexes...

"You will do well to remember your place, Scorpius Garriden Malfoy!"

"You..." I muttered faintly...

"Pardon?" The ice in Lucius' voice was chilling.

"You...you forgot the Draconis..."

Rage...

Pain...

Black...

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I "awoke" with a gasp of pain. I was leaning heavily against Tonks, and I flinched away, falling to the stone ground. I scrambled away, putting my back against rock.

My vision, slightly back, saw his worried look. I stared at him, my eyes wild. He touched me! Nobody touched me...only Severus! Why did he touch me?

I rubbed my arms furiously. They itched and burned the way my eyes did as they faded back to pure white. Teddy's face faded away, and I hissed as my ability to see his reaching arm disappeared.

I felt his touch on my arm, and I whimpered. No! He couldn't touch me! Why was he touching me??

"Scorpius?" Tonks sounded shaken, and insecure. No, not insecure. That was me...

"Scorpius, I think we should go up to the Hospital Wing..."

I wondered how badly I looked as I pushed myself up on shaking legs. I could feel rivulets of blood running down my face and my back and my limbs. The warm blood intrigued my vampiric side, and I restrained myself from licking the back of my trembling hand.

"No," I said. "I need to go do my homework. Tonks, bring me my homework."

Silence.

Then? He touched me again! I let out a strangled cry as he started pushing me down the hallway.

"No!" I cried. "No, let me go! Don't touch me!" My cries and sobs weren't attracting attention-it had to be after curfew by now.

I started beating him. My fists connected with Teddy's back, his stomach, his arms. Never his face.

He wouldn't let go of me! "Why won't you let go?" I sobbed, my legs giving out. He caught me, his hand directly over the bullet wound. I cried out in agony, my head pounding fiercely.

"It won't stop. Why won't it stop?" I babbled, delirious. I heard a door open over my racket, and a shriek.

"Dear Merlin!" Pomfrey breathed. "B-Bring him in here! Quickly boy, quickly! What happened?"

Teddy waited until he had pushed me down on a bed until he spoke. I vaguely heard Pomfrey's gasps and Teddy's soft words. I could feel Rose staring at me. Warm liquid ran down my back as I sat, shivering, still feeling Tonks' touch.

"Oh my God, Scorpius!" Rose breathed, and I felt her reach for me. Her hand connected with mine, and I jerked backwards, slipping off of the bed.

"Oh! Scorpius!" I heard Pomfrey say, and she grasped my arm.

"NO!" I shrieked. "Stop it! Don't touch me!" She let go, and I sobbed with gratitude. Why must they touch me?

"Scorpius...sit on the bed, please?" My mind strayed to the two pages of Severus' journal that I had read last night. He had been ranting and raving about proper grammar.

I shakily rose up and perched on the edge of the bed, ready to dart away if they attempted to touch me. Madam Pomfrey cautiously moved closer.

"Scorpius, I have to examine your eyes," she said. "Okay?" I was suspicious, but I figured sight might allow me to decipher things easier-I relented.

She moved closer and cautiously tipped my head back. I shuddered, but bit my tongue. It's Severus...I told myself. I remembered the way that I had concealed my pain from Elisa while hugging her, and I did the same now.

She pushed my eyes farther open, studying them, muttering Latin incantations under her breath.

"Oh, dear," she murmured. "This will be tricky. Scorpius, do you mind if I treat to your other wounds first?"

I blinked as she took her hands away, and sighed internally. "Won't work." I mumbled.

"Excuse me?"

"It won't work..." I whispered. I could almost see Madam Pomfrey's affronted face.

"I'll be the judge of that, Mister Malfoy! Now, take your shirt off and lay back." I stiffened as she pushed on my shoulder. Contact...I shuddered, but did her bidding. I heard Teddy move to hold Rose as she gasped and started crying.

"Calm down, Rosie."

"But Teddy! Look!"

"I know...Don't worry, Rosie, Madam Pomfrey will heal him." Two unsaid words were left hanging in the air- I hope.

Madam Pomfrey ran her hand over my abdomen, and I shuddered. Latin incantations filled the air, and I felt the wounds stop bleeding - whiplashes, bullet wounds, knifings and more.

I started drifting into a void of darkness, but was jerked back whenever Pomfrey touched me. I whimpered. She's touching me...

Scorpius!

My head jerked. Severus?

Scorpius, are you alright? His voice was urgent.

Yes...no...

What happened?

Devil...pain...it hurts!

Scorpius, breathe. I know it hurts. Calm down.

She's...

Who?

She's...SHE'S TOUCHING ME!

I let out a shriek. Madam Pomfrey's hand withdrew, and I quieted.

Pius! Calm down! Who's touching you? What is she doing to you?

Pomfrey...She's touching me...

Scorpius, listen carefully, okay?

Mmk...

Do you remember studying Occluding?

Vaguely.

Do that! Choose your element and bring the barrier up in your mind...

Won't that make you leave?

...Yes, but you will be able to tolerate her touch longer.

"No!" I screeched as Pomfrey ran her fingers over my arm, a "comforting" gesture.

No!

Scorpius, please. I will return. Just promise me that you will do this?

Rivulets of blood and tears ran down my cheeks. "Okay..." I whispered. Severus left.

Pomfrey took my okay as a signal to touch me again. I flinched away violently, before remembering to Occlude. What element to use...Water was the passageway to Hell. Air was a passageway to Hell. Fire was Lucius' weapon. Earth was where I was condemned for eternity, until the Devil chose to keep me with him.

I settled on a Wiccan element - Spirit. I focused on all of the people that I loved who had passed, even people who had loved those who I had loved, people that I had never met, and I used their spirits as my barrier. The purple mist infiltrated my mind and searched every corner. My mind fell into a content submission.

"Scorpius?" Madam Pomfrey's words seemed far away. "Scorpius, I must examine..."

I nodded jerkily. There was a large cut on my neck, and it hurt to move it. I braced myself mentally for the Mediwitch's touch. The purple mist swirled about, people's voices calming me. I heard Severus, my father, even Lily Evans' voice, as she had loved Severus once.

I felt nothing, yet I knew that Pomfrey was running her hands across my chest, attempting to feel the extent of the damage. I basked in my element, letting Severus and my father swirl about me and caress me...I could hear there voices...

Oh my son...You've been so brave...Close your eyes, Scorpius. My father!

Yes, Scorpius. Come and join your father and I momentarily. You cannot stay forever, but while you sleep we will protect you.

Oh you poor boy! Lily Evans sounded concerned. I was confused. How could anyone be concerned for me? Especially someone who never knew me.

Severus?
Yes, Scorpius?

I'm so tired...

Scorpius, close your eyes...

I followed my father's instruction, and seconds later, I was pulled away into the realm of dreams...
