There Is a Beast in My Bed

~Chapter Five~

~Hermione~

Draco sat down, sighing. He had fought with Harry, --or to be more accurate, he had fought Harry off only ten minutes ago. Harry had disappeared apparently into the Gryffindor Tower, but why should he care, right? He finally had time to take a breather.

If Harry's going to continue like this, I'm not sure how long I am able to keep my hands off him.

One thing Draco knew for sure; Malfoy's never listen their hearts. There was no room for such pedestrian feelings like love, but lust was different. It had nothing to do with love, it was purely based on a need of something that you can't have, but sometimes it could be dangerous, like now in Draco's situation.

He knew he could never satisfy his lust for Harry as long as he was a Malfoy. He was supposed to follow the Dark Lord, but since he was dead...

Draco didn't know what he wanted anymore. His father was in Azkaban, his mother had moved abroad as soon as Lucius was shipped to behind bars.

Maybe... Maybe I could...

No, there was no point to mull these thoughts over in his head. He didn't even know for sure if he was gay! He didn't know himself anymore.

Before he came to Hogwarts, he knew what he wanted and needed, but all that had changed when he met Harry. Harry had always dominated his life. Harry was the one he hated the most and the one he compared himself to.

Shaking his head, he glanced around the Great Hall. Only a handful of people were present. They all were Ravenclaws, except one.

Hermione Granger was staring at him from across the room. She made a gesture with her hand, beckoning him to come over to her. He raised his brows, wondering what in Earth did the Mudblood want?

A few moments later he stood quietly in front of Granger, crossing his arms across his chest.

Clearing her throat, Hermione said, "I got an anonymous complaint concerning your behaviour as a Prefect."

"Was this the reason you wanted to talk to me?" he asked, tilting his head slightly to the right.

"Yes, I..."

"Cut the crap, Granger. I know why you wanted me here for this little tea party," he said, sitting down. He took a fresh cup, filling it with his favourite tea.

She looked surprised at this, but didn't say a word.

"Ask what you really want to ask," he offered her his trademark smirk.

"What did you do to Harry?" Hermione asked calmly.

"What do you mean?"

"Don't start with me. You said that you knew what I wanted, and I know that you have something to do with the fact that Harry wasn't sleeping in his own bed last night."

"Are you spying on him?"

"I'm a concerned friend and I want to keep him safe."

"From what? Me?" he asked, amused. "Let me tell you, Hon, that he's not the one who needs protecting," he said, leaning over the table.

Hermione was unaffected by it.

"Has he threaten you?" Hermione asked, confusion all over her face.

"More or less, yes, but it wasn't a threat that was... scaring me if you know what I mean," he said, his voice husky.

Hermione didn't notice. "I don't know what you mean, but know this, Draco, if you even lay a finger on him, you will regret it." With that she left, leaving a thoughtful boy behind.

This proves to be more interesting than I thought. Granger was suspecting something, so what? His and Harry's game would go on as planned. He might even have a chance to win. He didn't know what the rules were exactly, but he suspected the time would tell them to him.

He returned to his own table and started eating. The Great Hall had been filling up slowly as he talked with Granger, and now almost half of the students were there, but Harry was still nowhere to be seen.

Author Notes: Chapter six will be up very soon. Sorry that this chapter was short, but I'll make it up to you in chapter six, in a way;)
