****Christmas Holiday****

Deciding that spending the Christmas holiday at Hogwarts had lost its luster, the lot decided to take advantage of Sirius’ parents being away from home and went there. Even then, I wasn’t to far away. Making sure James never found out and Peter stayed in the dark about my plans.

I’m not very good at describing things; so just take my word for it when I say the Black Manor was huge. When they walked into the house, Sirius grinned and turned in a circle.

“Parties for two weeks straight!”

“Um no!” Amber said, with her hand on her hip, “we have homework to complete. Then we can party.”

But her words fell on deaf ears. Already Sirius, James, Peter, and Remus were making a list of things to do and get while Lily was owling her parents.

“Ok, fine! But I don’t want any of you copying my work on the train back. No more leeching off of me.”

Stomping to her room, Amber threw her books on the bed and began to work. And hour later, Sirius knocked on the door where Amber was studying.

“Come in!”

“I can’t believe you were serious about doing work.”

“Yes I was. N.E. W. T. S. are coming soon and I want to be ready.”

“Oh, well, the party is starting at ten if you can make it.”

“I’m not sure. I mean I know the party is going to be wonderful, but I really need to finish this potions essay.”

“Ok. But at least take a break and come down for something to eat.”

“Promise.”

Sirius silently closed the door. He wished that Amber party with him. But most of all, he wanted to kiss her. He thought about kicking the door down and doing that. But she would probably push him off.

Sirius walked down stairs to find James and Lily in a snogging session and didn’t want to disturb them. So he went back up stairs to his room. There, on his dresser, were pictures of he and Amber when they were little kids and a few of him with James and Remus.

“You’ve changed so much,” Sirius said, looking at Amber, “and I’m scared that I’m going to lose you.”

I, on the other hand, was talking to Peter, who I also called Wormtail.

“So, they’re having a party?”

“Yes sir. The Manor will be pack with kids from Hogwarts and other places.”

“Any adults?”

“Not that I know of, do you wish to come?”

“No, no. I just wanted to know if anybody of use would be here. But thank you anyway. Now, I know you’re horrible in Charms, so I’ll cast a spell so you can be a ‘wiz’ in that and beat that stupid Lily Evans. Stand still.”

I cast a simple spell. One that was in affect only until the end of school term, then he would back to where he was before, stupid. But I almost got caught by that good for nothing werewolf, Remus. He’d come outside for a bit of fresh air, and heard Wormtail talking. But my voice he did not know and could barely hear. For my powers were quite strong then and I was able to control my sounds.

“Worm?” Remus called. “You out here?”

“Yeah, I was just, talking to myself. You know, clearing my head.”

“Yeah, me too. Can you believe it? In a few more months we’ll be real wizards that can do magic outside of school. Do you have any ideas of you want to do?” Peter looked into Remus’ eyes. He was the only one who took time to get to know him, and he made a silent promise to himself that no harm was to ever come to Remus as long as he lived.

“No,” he answered, “I’ll probably take over the family business. You know, selling owls and stuff.”

“Is that what you really want to do?”

“Of course not!” Peter yelled, “I want to have a Quidditch contract, or work for the Ministry, but I can’t.” Peter walked off, running into a near-by field with tall grass.

****The Party****

By one in the morning, the party was going strong. The music filled every room and Amber was upstairs doing homework. Of course the music didn’t bother her because she had magical earplugs that blocked out all the noise.

But she decided to give her work a break and take a peek downstairs. What she saw made her laugh. Sirius was on top of a table with a glass cup spilling everywhere while he sang songs with James and Remus. Not wanting to stop the fun, she found a seat and sat down. A few minutes later, someone sat besides her.

“Hi,” the stranger said, “my name is Marques Daviau, and you are?”

“Amber, Amber Perry. Nice to meet you. Are you a friend of Sirius’?”

“Better than that,” he said, “I’m his cousin. Graduated from Hogwarts four years ago.”

“Well then,” Amber said, smiling, “how come I’ve never seen you there?”

“That’s because he was in Slytherin’s house.” Sirius piped in.

Amber raised her eyebrow, “Slytherin?”

“Oh, I’m not evil if that’s what you’re getting at. I’m just an ambitious person.”

“But he has a nasty attitude if you piss him off,” Sirius added again.

“Yeah, you’re a Black then.” Amber smiled and looked into his deep hazel green eyes. His slightly curly black hair covered his eyes and his perfect white tooth smiled memorized Amber. Sirius rolled his eyes and walked off in the direction of Lily and James.

“So,” Marques began, “are you and Sirius dating?” Amber laughed.

“Sirius? Are you kidding? No. We’re just good friends. Why?”

“It’s just that every time I talk to him, he’s talking about a girl named Amber. Amber does this and Amber does that.”

“I didn’t know he mentioned me to anybody but his mom and dad.”

“James! She is over there right now flirting with…with Marques! Him! I knew it was a bad idea to invite him, but no, you wanted to. And I hope you’re happy.” Lily stood in silence for a moment, and then spoke.

“If you don’t “like” her, then why are you so worried about whom she's talking to?” James laughed and nodded. This was making Sirius quite angry that no one could see what he saw.

“Don’t you understand, Marques is part Veela.”

“That’s impossible,” Lily said, "Veela’s can only be female."

“No, there’s an almost instinct group of Veela that could past their powers from female to male. They’re called Lindos. Very rare, but sometimes a male can pass the gene, sometimes they can’t.”

“Then how come you didn’t get the gene?” Lily asked.

“I got the damn gene!” Sirius yelled, causing everybody to stop dancing and looking at him, “it just affects people differently.” Lily coughed and touched Sirius’ shoulder.

“If that’s what you want to believe, then fine.”

****After The Party****

While the house elves cleaned, Amber and Marques stayed in deep discussion while Sirius, Remus, and Peter said in the kitchen eating, again. Growing boys my ass. They are greedy!

“So why don’t you just tell Amber about Marques?” Peter asked, cutting a piece of apple pie.

“And have her think I’m jealous? No way! If she wants to make an ass of her self, then let her.”

“That’s a nice thing to say,” Remus said, shaking his head.

Sirius got up and silently looked into the living room. Amber had a book in her lap and was explaining to Marques how a television worked.

“Wow,” Marques said, “so it’s like a picture but it talks? And you can press bottoms to change the channel. Wicked!”

“Muggles do have their advantages,” Amber said.

“And I think it’s time for me to leave because your boyfriend over there is getting quite jealous.” Marques said, noticing Sirius from behind the wall.

“Boyfriend?” Amber turned and saw Sirius, who quickly went back into the kitchen. “Sirius? Anyway. He’s not my boyfriend. Just a friend. Noting less and hopefully nothing more.”

“If you say so. I’ll be on my way. Owl me sometimes.”

“Sure will. Nice meeting you.”

Before Amber knew what happened, Marques took her in his arms and kissed her. Not a sweet little kiss on the cheek, forehead, or nose, but a passionate one on the lips. Amber’s knees buckled as she wrapped her arms around his neck. At the same time that happened, Remus, James, Peter, and Sirius walked out of the kitchen and stopped. Not to disturb, the boys quietly walked back in to the kitchen and sat down. All trying to avoid Sirius, who, tried to hold back his anger.
