Chp 14: End of an Age

**********

Harry couldn´t believe that he was just going to give up like that. He looked downward and saw the sword that Voldemort has wielded. Lavender was staring intently at Voldemort so he tried to use his leg to push it towards him without getting their attention.

"Goodbye Harry," Voldemort smiled. "Avada Kedavra," Then there was but a blinding green light and a scream that filled the room.

**********

"Ron! Put me down this instant! Let me go! Put me down!" Ginny yelled as Ron huffed along.

" Only- if - you promise -not to -go back-there," Ron said in between breaths. Ginny gave Hermione a long suffering look and Hermione in return was frowning with utter seriousness. Ginny gave a pout, "Alright, I promise!"

Ron took a pause and set his younger sister to the hard ground and continued their jog around the place. Trying to find something that would help them. Preferably a fireplace or some means of escape.

The threesome hurriedly searched around each room and looked around with much frustration. Hermione had silent tears streaking down her face and she was getting panicky and frantic, unlike her usual calm stature. She ran a hand through her bushy hair and wiped away her tears when she saw Ginny staring at her.

"C´mon, we don´t have time to lose!" she sniffled and continued running around. Ginny felt her pain so much, she whirled around to look at her brother who seemed to have aged at least ten years older. He gave a look that meant for her to hurry and try to find help.

She was trying to, but all she wanted to do was get back to Draco.

The emotional turmoil that each and everyone was going through was taking their toll and playing with their minds and made them tired, but they just kept on going.

Round and round they went in the magnificent mansion donned with much tapestry and artwork. Shiny suits of armour and fastidious amounts of magical objects surrounded many of the corners of the castle. Not every room had a fireplace and that was just stunning to think so because it could get rather cold in a huge mansion and such but warming spells were everywhere and a fireplace was of no need for every room. Of course Hermione guessed that everyone who stayed here couldn´t just go and come as they pleased. It was sort of a wealthy prison of sorts.

They had a few more rooms to try and then a cry was heard from one of the rooms.

"Guys come on! Get over here! Ron! Ginny!" Hermione cried in near hysterics.

Ron and Ginny looked at each other and ran at lightening speed to where Hermione was.

When they finally had gotten there, they saw she wore a huge smile and there she was standing in front of a huge fireplace. Ron and Ginny grinned stupidly and walked forward finding a pot of floo powder at the corner.

Ron looking serious, took a step forward and grabbed a handful of floo powder and looked at Hermione for confirmation. She gave a nod and he threw the powder into the flames that turned emerald green. He kneeled down and cried Dumbledore and stuck his head in. Ron was quite excited. He hadn´t done this before. He opened his eyes and saw Dumbledore´s office and then saw the old man staring at him with much concern but with a smile nonetheless.

"Young Weasley, where are all of you?" Another pop, saw Hermione´s head in the fireplace as well.

Both of them launched in a quick explanation of the events that happened and the creases in Dumbledore´s face grew more evident with every passing sentence.

"Alright. Come on then, I´ll get the Aurors now. You have to come back," Dumbledore said quietly.

"No sir, I can´t! Hermione and me can´t let Harry do this by himself but Ginny should go back sir," Ron said steadily and he saw Dumbledore give a nod.

When Hermione and Ron turned back they saw that Ginny was nowhere to be found and the flames turned to their original colour once more.

Ginny ran as fast as she could. She knew that Hermione and Ron would get help and she knew that Draco and Harry needed hers. Some way or another. She ran through the twisting corridors trying to remember the way to the library. Her heart racing and her mind clouding over, she ran and ran until she was so out of breath.

Finally she turned a corner and saw the library. She took a few fast and silent paces and peaked into what was happening. Her eyes widened to see the bound Death Eaters and a crying Narcissa. Sweeping over to Lavender Brown who looked smug and to Draco who was levitating and she feared him dead at his very limp body and finally to Harry who was cornered by Voldemort.

She never felt so weak. The past events ran through her mind like a nightmare and she froze at every point. At every hurt feeling, emotional and physical. She closed her eyes and willed the tears to go away and all she felt was pure anger. She looked in and saw Voldemort raise his wand. She held her wand and saw that Harry was desperately trying to get the sword into his hands.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" Ginny said from the front entrance. The sword quickly rose and just as the curse was hit, the sword had been standing guard over Harry and the curse rebounded back from the reflection, hitting Voldemort and Lavender gave a scream as she saw her master fall to the ground. Then she had let the sword float over Voldemort and sharply dropped it. The sound of the sword being impaled into Voldemort echoed throughout and they stood there in silence.

Ginny looked over at a horrified Lavender and bound her with ropes and lay her there to rock herself. Harry looked at Ginny and gave her a smile. She did it. She had done it.

Ginny looked over at him and was so glad that he was all right. She ran over and gave him a rib-crunching hug and then they heard a loud cry from Narcissa. Ginny turned away and her eyes immediately fell onto Draco.

The minute Voldemort had been hit and he had finally died, Draco had come crashing to the ground. He gave a huge gasp for breath to fill his aching lungs. He lay there just trying to catch his breath and closed his eyes. He heard someone crying and calling his name.

Ginny turned Draco over and lay him down in her lap. "Draco, Draco! It´s me Ginny," Draco looked up into her brandy coloured orbs and tried to give her his usual smirk but he was still having trouble breathing.

Harry looked over at Narcissa and he untied her and she got up and ran over to her son. "You´re alright! Draco your fine," she soothed, sniffling and trying to give him a smile.

Harry just stood there, not knowing what to do. Then Ron and Hermione finally arrived and when he whirled around, he saw that the flames of the fireplace had gone emerald once more and people started walking in. The last person that came through was Dumbledore, making him sigh with relief.

He placed a hand on Harry´s back and said. "Everything will be alright Harry," Hermione had given him a reassuring hug and Ron stood there smiling sadly. They looked on at a crying Ginny and Narcissa whom were bending over Draco.

Ginny stroked his face lovingly and cried softly while he just looked over at the two women trying to soothe him. Then she saw the ring on her finger and gave a smile.

She took it off her hand and placed it on his own; she could feel it warm up. Narcissa looked at her in an odd manner but smiled.

Colour came back to his cheeks and he looked so much better but before he could speak a word to anyone he went limp and his eyes rolled back. Medi wizards suddenly flanked them and hurriedly took Draco away, Narcissa following them.

Ginny´s eyes widened and her breathing became ragged. "No, this isn´t - No! No!" she screamed and tried to follow but a few other Medi wizards that were still around stopped her saying that only family could go.

Ginny just slumped back to the floor crying whilst aurors took the death eaters away and medi wizards went round helping the four that were left in the mansion.

Ron, who was healed rather well but still had purple steam ebbing from some of his wounds, came over to her and hugged her. Trying to tell her that it was alright but she didn´t listen as she let her crying consume her until finally she had fallen asleep.
