Chap. 10 - CALL IT TEMPTATION

Life is really funny sometimes. I said sometimes, because most of the time it's one tragedy after another until you reach a point where you cannot take it anymore. I saw my tragedy when Cho Chang entered the classroom. The first thing I thought when I saw her was: how the hell did she found us in here? I had cast the privacy spell, hadn't I? And even if I didn't, how did she, above all others, knew that Harry and I were here?

Harry was speechless. He just mumbled stuff that I didn't understand and I didn't care to, either. He had hidden that meeting from me. He never told he was supposed to meet her that day. I didn't know he was supposed meet her at all! And then a sudden frightening thought came over me. What if she was his girlfriend and all this time Harry had cheated on her with me? Fuck! That would be so cruel. To me, of course. I couldn't care less about her.

"I'll leave you two alone," I said, getting off of Harry's lap graciously and staring at her while I was passing on my way to the door. "Enjoy your boyfriend. Although I must say, I've been having fun with him lately."

She looked at me in shock.

"Draco, no! She's not... I mean... she... just...," Harry kept babbling.

"Whatever, Potter."

And I left. I was too outraged to cry. I never wanted to see him again. My chest was heavy and my breathing was hitched. But I wouldn't cry, even if my eyes were kind of blurry and I...

-----------

"Hey! Are you ok?" I heard someone speaking.

I didn't know that voice. Where was I? I opened my eyes slowly, trying to gain focus. I noticed the stone walls and the bronze statue of Salazar Slytherin next to me. Then I realised I was lying in the arms of some stranger.

"Take your hands off me!" I shouted, putting some space between the guy and me.

My head seemed to hurt a little when I did that. The guy got near me again and I felt a warmth hand touching my forehead.

"I think you hit your head when you fell," he explained to me.

"When I fell?"

"Yeah. You fainted. Are you feeling alright?"

"Fainted? Malfoys don't faint!" I said like he had said the worst of the offences to me.

He laughed. "A Malfoy? Typical. Well, unless you have a different metabolism from the rest of us, I'm pretty sure you fainted. Did you eat properly today? Are you wandering around with an empty stomach?"

Who did he think he was? My father? No, wait. My father would never ask me something like that. He never cared about me that much.

"Of course not! And I didn't faint!"

"Sure you didn't, buddy."

He helped me stand up and the moment I was on my feet I pulled away from him.

"Don't call me buddy! We don't know each other."

Until this moment I hadn't seen his face. What was the point anyway? I wasn't interested in knowing the guy that had caught me in an embarrassing moment. As a matter of fact, I wanted to get the hell out of there as fast as I could. But then I looked up and stared at him and the stranger dazzled me.

He was absolutely gorgeous. Maybe he had too many freckles for my taste, but the rest of him was just perfect. I checked him out without any shame. Boots that I would die for, strong legs, very nice buttocks, a great volume inside his dragon leather pants, cute smile, green eyes and a hair that had the colour of fire. He was hot. I was almost drooling all over myself.

"Do you like what you see?" he provoked me and I woke up.

"What? What are you talking about?" I tried to cover up. Too late for that, I knew, but I had to try.

He smiled. Damn that smile! I couldn't stop looking at him and he noticed.

"Are you ok now?" he asked.

Come on, Draco. Be nice with the guy. He helped you. He's a god.

"Y-yes. T-thanks," I stuttered. I. Stuttered!

"Alright then. Do you want me to walk you somewhere?"

Yes, yes! I wanted him to walk me to my bedroom.

"N-no. You d-don't h-have to."

Dammit! Stop stuttering, for Merlin's sake. See? This was why life was funny sometimes.

"Oh, I won't mind," he said.

If he insisted...

"Ok." Who was I to deny anything to him?

As I stared at him endlessly, I noticed that he looked familiar. He looked a lot like...

"Charlie!?" I heard Weasley shouting from behind me. "I can't believe it's you!"

"Hey, Ron!"

Charlie gave Ron a bear hug and lifted him in the air for a few minutes. It was the first time in my life that I wanted to be Ron Weasley.

"You two know each other," I stated.

"Yeah. Ron is my little brother," Charlie explained.

Of course, Draco, you stupid! You knew he looked like someone! He was a Weasley. Well, nobody could be that perfect.

"What are you doing here?" Ron asked.

"Well, I received a job offer and I came here to discuss it with Dumbledore."

He would be my teacher? I grinned.

"You didn't say anything!" Ron complained.

"I wanted it to be a surprise! Where is Ginny?"

"I don't know. Let's find her."

"Oh, you go ahead. I'll meet you later."

Ron looked at me and then at his brother. He had a weird look on his face and I wondered what that was all about. But I wouldn't complain. Charlie - loved the name, by the way - wanted to stay with me. I grinned even more.

As Ron passed by me he muttered, "Don't do anything stupid, Malfoy. If you hurt Harry in any way I'll kill you."

Harry? What Harry? I didn't want to remember Harry. I needed a diversion. Harry had just broken my heart. I didn't need Harry. I had Charlie to make me forget about him. He was older - but not much - good-looking, and amazingly attractive. He was also looking at me with the same interest that I was looking at him.

When Ron disappeared, Charlie said, "Do you want to talk?"

"About what?"

"About what's bothering you."

No, I didn't want to talk about that. I wanted to forget.

"Nothing is bothering me," I replied, annoyed.

He held my hand and I trembled. "Come on. Let's walk."

And I followed him.

---------------

Charlie was a great guy. And he told me he was bi. As I walked with him by the lake, I noticed two things. One, that I wanted to kiss him because no one would be able to resist him. And two, that Harry was indeed more than just an obsession because I couldn't stop thinking about him. That sucked. I felt like I was betraying him and it was the other way around. He was the one with Cho Chang, not me. He was the one who had been keeping secrets from me. I had the right to be there with Charlie. I did.

"You're nice for a Malfoy," he said.

I smirked, "You're nice for a Weasley."

He laughed. "All Weasleys are cool, Draco."

"I can't say the same thing about the Malfoys."

"You know, I wouldn't give up on Harry. Maybe it was all a misunderstanding."

I had told him my story with Harry. So what? Charlie Weasley was a very persuasive man. I didn't want to talk to him about my feelings. I had just met him, for Merlin's sake! He was a total stranger. But somehow I found it easy to open my heart to him. He seemed to understand what I was going through. It was amazing the way we connected. I wasn't afraid to show him the real Draco Malfoy. Besides, I couldn't say no to his green eyes - they were just like Harry's. Dammit.

"Maybe."

He put his hand in my shoulder and squeezed it.

"Harry is not that kind of guy, you know. Maybe he's just confused about his feelings."

"I don't know."

"Do you love him?"

"Yes!"

That came out of my mouth in high speed.

"Then you should listen to what he has to say to you."

I smiled. "You know, I can't believe I opened my heart to you like this. Harry is a delicate subject in my life and I always found it hard to talk to anyone about him."

"Well, Bill always told me that I have the strange ability to make people talk about their feelings."

"He's right. Is it a spell?"

"Not at all! It's just me and my wonderful personality."

"And your pretty face," I said, regretting immediately.

I reddened. He smiled. How stupid was that?

"Maybe we should go back," he suggested.

"Sure."

As we walked back to the castle, I took the opportunity to have a look at his hips. Wow. He noticed though, and I felt very ashamed of myself.

"It's alright, you can look," he provoked me.

Shame on us!

"I'm sorry," I said.

"Oh, don't be. I know I'm tasty!"

Tasty? That was so the right word to describe him! I laughed. He was such a funny guy!

"You're conceited, too," I pointed out.

"You're right. You know, you're cute. I hope Harry realises what he has."

He touched my face slightly. He was such a temptation. But it didn't matter how gorgeous he was, I was completely in love with Harry.

"Good luck with Harry."

"Thanks."

As I watched him walking away, I wished my heart wasn't committed with someone already. Harry was so bloody complicated and Charlie was just the opposite. Still, I loved Harry. I was so stupid... Life was a real pain in ass most of the times.
