Chapter 8 ~ Awaken

Harry glared and nodded. "I bet you would want nothing more than to see me dead," he said through gritted teeth.

"Then I've got what I wanted, Harry."

"Wake up, Harry. Wake up."

Harry's eyes snapped open and he sat straight up, looking around the room in shock. He was in a very white room. It was blinding compared to the darkness he was subjected to before. He had to close his eyes and open them again as he adjusted to the light.

Hermione, Ron, and Luna rushed over to him. "Harry! You're alright!" Hermione said happily, hugging him.

Harry hugged her back. "What happened?" he asked in a shaky voice. He felt extremely weak.

Luna hugged him. "You wouldn't wake up," she whispered serenely as she pulled away.

Ron nodded. "The Healers didn't know what was wrong with you. They did all of these tests and Dumbledore even couldn't wake you... We thought you died or someone gave you The Drought of the Living Dead."

Luna smiled at him and he couldn't help but give a small grin. He was just happy that everyone was okay and that he was alive.

Harry looked around. He realized that he was in St. Mungo's. "How long have I been here?" he asked when he spotted that his corner was the more decorated than all of the others.

Hermione twisted her hands in her lap. "A couple weeks."

Harry's eyes widened. "A couple weeks?" he asked, stunned. It only felt like a day or so when he was with Belle...

Luna nodded and sat on the end of his bed. "What happened?" she asked, staring at him avidly.

Harry shrugged. "I-I don't know," he said uneasily. He didn't know what would happen if he told them about Belle. "The last thing I remember is going to sleep in my bed at the Dursleys and..." he trailed off with a shrug. "I don't remember anything else happening," he added quickly.

"I'm just happy to be back," Harry whispered to inaudibly.

Hermione's eyes narrowed. "You remember nothing?" she asked. "Are you sure?"

Harry nodded. "Positive," he said grinning at Luna. She was more beautiful than ever...

Ron grinned and turned toward Hermione. "We should go get Professor Dumbledore," he said eyeing Harry and Luna.

Hermione nodded and smiled at them. "Would you like me to get you guys anything from the Visitors' Tearoom?"

Harry shook his head, as did Luna.

Ron and Hermione left them in silence, Luna waited until they were well down the hall before she spoke.

"Happy to be back?" she asked with a tranquil smile.

"What do you mean?" Harry asked, his eyebrows furrowed slightly.

Luna's eyes widened, they were larger than usual. "You met her, didn't you?"

Harry's mouth opened slightly and he closed it. How did she know? "I-I don't know what you're talking about," he said in a fake confused tone.

"I know she wouldn't mind it if you told me the truth," Luna said distantly.

Harry stared at her pensively. "You know her?" he asked.

Luna nodded and grinned.

"Who is she?"

Luna stood from the bed. "You'll find out soon enough, Harry - she'll come to you," she whispered into his ear and gave him a kiss on the cheek before leaving him.

Harry watched her figure as she walked out of the room and his eyes widened. "You'll find out soon enough, Harry - she'll come to you." Those words frightened him; he didn't want to meet her. He just wanted to know who she was...
