"Hermione Got Hot"

Chapter 3

The compartment door opened again, Harry peered in to the compartment and eyed Ron, as if to ask, 'Is it safe'. Ron winked happily and Harry walked in and resumed his seat.

"Well then, who do you think they got for the dark arts job this year?" asked Harry. He was straining to make conversation upon noticing the odd silence that seemed to fill the compartment.

Ron shook his head wearily, "Who cares, it's always the same. One guy after another, none of them have lasted more than a year anyway."

"Ron, you shouldn't say that. Defense Against the Dark Arts is a very important subject, we have to learn it," hissed Hermione. She looked impatiently at Harry who had let out a bit of a giggle.

Harry smiled and thought to himself, 'Some things never change'.

The rest of the train ride was as usual, Harry and Ron discussed Quidditch matches and Hermione read a school book. The lights flickered on once the sun had set and the moon shined brightly through the compartment windows. The little lady with the trolley rolled through after a few hours and Harry bought a box of chocolate frogs for all of his companions. Neville Longbottom did soar into the compartment right before the train stopped at Hogsmeade Station. He fell right through the compartment door and into Ron's lap. After a long tale of being thrown down the train by Goyle he looked over at Hermione and was ready to introduce himself before taking a closer look.

"Hello Neville," she said eagerly.

He smiled back, "I didn't see you there Hermione, sorry." The train stopped and Neville exited the compartment with a look of confusion written all over his face.

When they stepped out of the train there was a chill in the air. Hermione's hair was blowing this way and that. Ron who, was behind her, had to keep ducking as he talked to Harry, so as not to get a mouthful.

"Alright there," boomed a voice over the howling wind. Hagrid stood on the platform getting all the first years into a line. The three waved gleefully. Hermione wasn't sure that Hagrid noticed her but waved anyway. She felt a sudden push on her backside and stumbled forward a bit.

"Move it Granger!" said an unmistakable voice from behind. DracoMalfoy passed by the three Gryffindorswith a smirk of pleasure on his face. "Stupid Mudblood," he said.

Ron balled his fists up and Harry instinctively grabbed him by the back of his collar. When he went to run toward the Slytherin he didn't get very far. "Oh don't worry about it Ron, he's always acted like that," said Harry.

"Yeah but this year Hermione's my girl and I have to stick up for her," exclaimed Ron in a rather loud voice. Harry had a feeling that Ron wanted everyone within earshot to know of his success with Hermione. Hermione however, had a much different idea.

"You're what?" she exclaimed. Before he had a chance to answer she went red and began to hiss at him, "I am not your girlfriend Ron Weasley. All I said was that I like you, not that I love you." She dashed away and into the first horseless carriage she saw. Ron and Harry went into another.

Hermione opened the carriage door and slammed herself down into the seat. The carriage was dark, a cloud had moved and covered the moon. She sighed heavily and looked out the window into the blackness that lay before them.

"What the hell are you doing?" said a voice right as the carriage began to move. Hermione looked around frantically, she had thought the carriage was empty. "Lumos," said the voice and everything illuminated. Draco Malfoy was sitting across from Hermione.

"Sorry, I thought this carriage was empty." Hermione sighed even more heavily, this was worse than being with Harry and Ron. Something suddenly struck her as odd. Draco was alone in this cart. "Where are Goyle and Crabbe?" she asked.

"None of your business. Now sit there and look pretty Granger, it seems to be what you're good at these days." Draco smirked. Hermione scowled and chose not to say anything.

After a minute or two of silence Draco spoke again. "You do look quite ravishing. I'd like to have my way with you. Father wouldn't approve of course, but he needn't know." He smiled devilishly at Hermione. For the first time she smiled back. "What do you say Granger?" he asked as he rested his hand on her knee.

Suddenly she realized what was happening. "Of course I say no, get off of me!" she screamed. She looked at Draco who was seemingly dumbstruck. He had probably never been refused before.

"Filthy Mudblood, you'd probably give me some Muggle disease anyway," he said through gritted teeth.

Hermione couldn't eat at the feast. She was thinking about what had come over her in the carriage. Why had she smiled at Draco? Why on earth was she even thinking about losing her virginity to him for that split second? She had been saving that virginity for someone else, someone very special.

Harry and Ron meanwhile were shoving mashed potatoes into their mouths and talking to Nearly Headless Nick, the Gryffindor house ghost. Ron glanced at Hermione somberly once or twice. He was clearly trying to avoid eye contact. Harry on the other hand wouldn't look or speak to her at all. He was angry with her for embarrassing Ron in front of half of the school, she thought. Hermione looked down at her empty plate, already she'd caused trouble and the first day of lessons hadn't even started yet.
