Angels in Waiting
We camped out on the living room floor
In our old sleeping bags by a make believe fire
A tent made of various blankets stood in the middle of a green yard. To the causal passerby, it looked crude and childish, but to its owners, it was a symbol of growing independence. James Potter, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin crawled out from beneath its makeshift door to admire their handy work. Although they were camped out in the middle of Sirius' yard, with his manor not even one hundred yards away, they all felt a sense of freedom. This was their new home for the summer and it was going to be the best summer of all. James disappeared for a couple minutes until a few minutes later, he return. In his hands, he held a sign that said The Marauders in bright red paint. They hung in atop the peak and crawled back inside again to admire their work again.
In a tent made of covers we'd talk for hours
My two brothers and me
Two years later, the three boys along with Peter find themselves in a broken down bathroom stall. James is carefully stirring in ghastly looking ingredients into a small cauldron. Sirius is busy reading out of an old, yellow, aged book looking up every so often at James and the potion. Remus and Peter stand in the corner staring anxiously at the two. A loud popping sound comes from the cauldron and James looks up and smiles, it is ready. He takes the first sip and slowly changes into a big stag. Sirius is next as he changes into a great dog. Peter is last and he changes into a small rat. Remus just stares at his three best friends. Although he can't say anything, they all know that if he could talk, he'd say thanks.
Keeping the faith
Racing with destiny
Sirius paced his living room again and again. James and Lily had just asked him to be their Secret-Keeper. He couldn't do it; he knew that Voldemort would come straight after him. He loved James and Lily more than life itself and he couldn't let anything happen to them. Then he had a brilliant idea. He would be the decoy and Peter would be the real Secret-Keeper. No one, not even Dumbledore would suspect this and he was sure that James and Lily would be safe. Overjoyed, he grabbed his coat as he ran out the door and as he passed an old man walking his dog in the street, he kissed him.
They were angels in waiting
Waiting for wings
James flew high above all of the stands, searching for the snitch. He went into a fast dive towards the Ravenclaw stands. Dozens of screams, mainly from girls, erupted from the stands as he and the Hufflepuff seeker hurtled towards the stands. At the last second, the Hufflepuff seeker pulled out of the dive, but James kept on going. He slammed into the stands as more gasps erupted from the crowd. All eyes were on him as he slowly stood up, holding the snitch. All of the Ravenclaws and Gryffindors cheered as he smiled tried to take a step but fell. He got up again, a second later, only to unsteadily turn and then pass out. Dumbledore smiled as he watched from the stands.
To fly from this world
Away from their pain
Lily and James sat around the common room fire, snuggled next to each other, completely oblivious to everything that was going on around them. Sirius and Remus ran by, shooting icy water out of their wands at three first years, but James and Lily still sat, staring at the fire. Hours later, Sirius and Remus came back, completely soaked, but triumphant, and Lily and James still sat there. Sirius and Remus knew that this was a rare moment as they snuck back up the steps leaving James and Lily still staring at the fire.
Treauring time
Till time came to leave
Harry suddenly spotted the snitch and dove. All eyes were on him as he and Cho Chang dove towards the Slytherin stands. Both of them held steady and some girl screamed for them to watch out. Cho pulled out of the dive at the last second as Harry collided full force into the stands. Everyone steered clear of him as he woozily stood up, clutching the snitch in his right hand. He raised it up into the air for a second until he passed out. Dumbledore could only smile.
Leaving behind
Sweet memories
James, Remus, Sirius and Peter all sat in a circle in their tent. Now, seven years after they had first constructed it, it was a tad bit too small and magic was all that was supporting it, but it was theirs. The day had started out fun, but now turned serious as they started to talk about Voldemort. Then and there, they all made a pact, the four of them would always protect each other against anything. They took out a piece of parchment and signed it in blood. And they were committed for life.

"So Remus, what do you want to do when you get out of here?" Sirius asked.
"I think that I'd like to work for the Ministry. James?" Remus said.
"I don't really know, I've never really thought about me being old and wrinkly. So Sirius, what do you want to be when you grow up?" asked James changing the subject hastily.
"I want to be in the mob!" Sirius exclaimed. James, Peter, Remus and Lily all looked at each other and promptly got up and left.
"What? Come back guys! I was just kidding," Sirius called at their retreating backs.
They always knew they'd never grow old
Sometimes the body is weaker than the soul
Minerva McGonagall sat at the head table, staring at James Potter and his crew. They kept turning around and staring at the Slytherin table and then turning back around. Just as she was about to get up and ask them what was going on, a huge explosion came from the Slytherin table. Looking over, she saw Severus Snape covered completely in chicken feathers. Looking back at the Gryffindor table, she saw James, Sirius, Remus and Peter trying to sneak away while all of the teachers were still looking at Severus. She followed them out into the hall where she gave them each four detentions. Minerva found, as she was watching the four boys retreat down the hall, that she was smiling.
In their darkest hour I made a promise
I will always keep
Some scared first year was running down the hall wildly shouting that the troll was in the girl's bathroom. Minerva tried to slow him down, but running. She sprinted as fast as she could to the bathroom, where she found an unconscious troll on the ground and three first years standing by it. Hermione gave some excuse, but knowing Potter, she was sure that it was a lie. They cleared everyone out and as she watched Potter, Weasley and Granger walk back to the tower, she let her everlasting grimace turn slightly upwards in the hints of a smile.
I'll give them life
I'll let them live through me
Remus sat in his small cottage staring at the piece of parchment sitting in front of him. He tried as hard as he could, but he just couldn't deny the fact that he had to take the Defense job. When Dumbledore asked someone something, it wasn't a question, it was a command. Even so, he just couldn't ignore the fact that he was a werewolf and he couldn't cover it up. Against all of his uncertainties, he pulled out a fresh piece of parchment and started a letter to Dumbledore, thinking the whole time of his promise to James and Lily. At the end of his letter, he signed it and wrote FJaL at the bottom. His promise. Their pact. For James and Lily.

Lily would have hated her funeral. She was always such a bright happy girl that she would have screamed at everyone to go home and put on happier colors, black was just so depressing! Remus sat alone and still at the front pew. Three of his friends were now dead, and his fourth was worse than dead. He sat there the whole entire day, in complete shock, until when the caretaker was locking its doors, Professor Dumbledore helped him up and lead him out the door.
To fly from this world
Away from their pain
Years later, the makeshift tent still stood in the backyard, empty. An old lady peered out from her window and as a silent tear fell down from her face, she just wished beyond anything that she could hear her little boy and his friends laughing and rough housing from inside it. Sadly, it would never be filled again and the old lady wept, for her son, and for her 'adopted' sons.
Treauring time
Till time came to leave
Lily Potter cuddled baby Harry as she sang a song. It wasn't anything special, just the song that her father would sing to her late at night...hush little baby...don't say a word...momma's going to buy you a mocking bird...
Leaving behind
Sweet memories
Sirius was bored. OK, so he had a short attention span, but he was still was bored. Seeing as it was the day after the full moon, he decided against visiting Remus and went to see Peter instead. As he walked up to the cottage, he saw all the lights on, but heard nothing from inside. Alarmed, he ran inside and saw everything still and quiet. For a young bachelor, it was too still. Everything was in perfect order, there weren't any signs of a fight and Peter knew not to go anywhere by himself. Sirius immediately knew something was up and took off.
Angels in waiting
Remus sat at the head table after so many years. He smiled as Dumbledore introduced him and he stood. So many memories came flying back as he saw Harry and his friends clapping loudly for him. Smiling, he sat down and started to think of all of the stories he'd tell Harry. Of course, he'd have to start with the time that James and Sirius cursed all of the Slytherins so that they had to dance the tango ever time they head 'Quidditch.'
Angels in waiting
Fifteen years later, the tent still stood. The last two returned to the family house to discover the tent, old, ragged and dusty, but still there. They crawled inside it and as it collapsed, somewhere, someplace, a star shot across the sky and the men heard the smallest hint of a lullaby...hush little baby...don't say a word...mommas going to buy you a mocking bird...
For me
OK, well I'm done. Did you like it?...or hate it? Please review, I'd really like it. Thanks and have a great day!
