Twisted Fairy Tales: Snow White

Chapter 1

Once upon a time, there was a powerful, rich, pureblood wizard king. His name was Lucifer - oops, I meant Lucius - Malfoy (although most people would agree that Lucifer suited him better, that devil, that psychotic sinister bast - erm... let's just pretend that didn't happen). This king had a wife, Narcissa, who became pregnant shortly after their marriage. One cold winter day, the heavily pregnant Narcissa decided to sit by the window, with three house elves tending to her every need. One of them fanned the haughty queen with a fan made of unicorn hair, while the other two fed her grapes and wine when commanded. She looked out the window, and saw two figures amidst the heavy snow. Narcissa recognized one of the figures as a veela, with its silver-blonde hair and its fair beauty. The veela was arguing with the pale man before her. The queen soon discovered that the man was a vampire, as he suddenly pounced on the veela and bared his sharp canine teeth before sinking them onto the veela's neck. Narcissa watched the ordeal calmly, and thought, Would that my little son may be as white as that snow, as cold as that vampire, and as blonde as that veela! And so the little boy grew up: his skin as white as snow, his heart as cold as the vampire's, and his hair as blonde as a veela's, and he was called Draco (which I am sure has nothing to do with his appearance as his name means dragon). I would not say that the ordeal Narcissa witnessed made any difference to the boy's looks. Both his parents have pale skin, cold hearts and blonde hair, after all.

This queen died; and the king soon married another woman, who was a pureblood witch, but so kind and good that the king died out of disgust for the woman he thought was as evil as he. The new queen, Molly had a magic looking glass, to which she would go and gaze upon herself in it, and say:

'Tell me, glass, tell me true.

Of all the people in this land,

Who is the wickedest? Tell me who?'

And the glass would give an answer like this:

'The executioner MacNair, my queen, is wickedest in the land.'

The caring and compassionate queen would then set out to help the named wicked person to become good. She continued consulting the looking glass to seek out the wicked people in her land. Soon enough, there were less and less immoral and sinful people. But unknown to the queen, Draco grew more and more evil. By the time the prince turned seven, he was as evil as his father once was, and perhaps even more. Then, one day, when Molly consulted her glass as usual, it answered:

'Thou, queen, may'st have banished many evil and most,

But Draco is the wickedest, right under your nose!'

When the queen heard this, she became pale and bewildered, for she had showered the young Draco with all her love. And so she called for one of the redeemers who aided in her mission, and said: 'Take Draco to the Chamber of Redemption, so that I may personally release him from evil.'

Then the appointed redeemer led the prince to the chamber, and dropped his guard when the prince asked innocently about where he was led. So he told Draco the truth, and added, 'I will not hurt thee, thou misled child.' The redeemer left the boy by himself, feeling as if a great weight were taken off his heart when he made his mind not to magically lock the door of the said chamber, sure that an innocent youth like Draco would not run away. Unfortunately, Draco was no innocent child.
