Chapter 5

Ron was sitting in the common room, writing his music. He got the words down, but the music was giving him a headache. He tried over 10 different melodies but none of them seemed to fit. Ron sighed. "How am I supposed to do this? The Halloween ball is in less than a week and I don't know I am doing," he said to himself. Just then, Hermione walked in.

"Hey Ron. What are you up to?" she asked. Ron quickly hid his papers and smiled.

"Oh just catching up on some schoolwork, that's all. Umm what are you up to?" he asked. His voice was nervous. Don't ask which homework, just don't ask, Ron thought. Hermione pulled out a book from her book bag and showed it to him.

"I was just going to read this. We need to read it for Herbology. I hope I wasn't disturbing you," she said, politely. Ron hated when she did that. It proved that she was perfect.

"Oh no, I was just umm, fixing up my essay for Herbology. Could you read it?" he pulled out his completed essay, which he did the night before, and handed it to her. She took it and read it.

"Wow. You finished your work before me. I'm jealous," she joked. He watched her read his paper, with a melody coming up in his head. He quickly took out the music parchment and wrote it down. The music seemed to spill on the page. For some odd reason, he seemed to get inspiration from Hermione.

"Well, this is good," she said without looking up. He hid the paper again and he took his essay and put that away.

"Herm, I got to go. It's important. I'll see you later!" he said as he ran to the dorm. Hermione sighed.

"Well, this has been a weird day. I guess, it might be more crazy as life progresses," she said to herself. Then, she began to read.

"Hey Gin!" Draco yelled as he approached her. He kissed her and he took her hand.

"Hey yourself," she replied. She smiled at him and he held her closer.

"So, what do you want to do today? It's quite boring now," he said with a smile. Ginny laughed. She loved it when he smiled at her. He seemed to bring her into his world.

"I think that we should spend today together. I mean, to get to know each other better," she said. Draco nodded.

"What a great idea," he replied. He held her closer and she rested her head on his shoulder. Looking back on it, they seemed to fit like two pieces of a puzzle. She would be the positive side to the battery and he would be the negative. They both represent good and evil. It was as if it were a match made in heaven. Draco smiled. He seemed to be the luckiest man in the world.

"Draco, I was wondering, you know, what are you going to be for the Halloween ball?" Ginny asked out of the blue.

"Depends, that is what are you going to be?" he asked.

"I honestly don't know. I know that this is a Halloween ball, but I need some inspiration," she asked.

"Why don't you wear a beautiful dress and I will wear a tux," he said. She laughed.

"Very formal," she replied. Then she nodded. She liked the idea. He smiled.

"Well, I guess that we should figure out where I could get a tux huh?" he said. Ginny laughed.

"I think I could find just the right one for you," she said as she kissed him.

Ron was playing on his guitar. He was practicing for the ball. The beginning of the song was slow, and then suddenly, it became fast. It was perfect for the song. His voice sang along now, and his music became louder. Then he stopped. Harry was standing at the door.

"Hey, Ron," he said when Ron stopped playing.

"So you're talking to me now?" Ron asked. His tone wasn't the prettiest.

"I just wanted to apologize," Harry started. That was a change.

"Oh. You mean about the Hermione thing?" he asked.

"Yeah. I guess I should've told you. I didn't mean to hurt you. I guess that I was blinded by love that I forgot all about my best friend," he said. Ron laughed.

"I didn't mean to hit you. I just got carried away," Ron replied.

"Well, I know you like her a lot but, I just want to have my best friend back," Harry said.

"I won't make you break up with her, don't worry," Ron said.

"Are you serious?" Harry asked.

"Yeah. I want her to be happy, even if she isn't with me," Ron said.

"Thanks," Harry said.

"So, friends?" Ron said as he struck out his hand.

"Friends," Harry said as he shook Ron's hand. "So could I hear the song?" Harry asked. Ron nodded as he began to sing.

"Now, once again, here is our own singer, Ron Weasley!" Dumbledore yelled. Ron came on the stage and bowed.

"Thank you Professor! I will be singing a song called "Everything" which I wrote for that special someone, though, she deserves someone better," he said. Then he took out his guitar. "Someone else will be performing with me. That person is Harry Potter, who will be playing drums," Ron said. Then Harry came on to the stage. [A/N: singing will be italicized.]

The beginning was slow and dramatic. There really wasn't any drum part. Everyone was wondering why Harry was even there. Hermione watched Ron sing. It was beautiful.

When Ron finished singing that part, everyone was wondering who was this special someone he always writes for. She must be very special. That was everyone's thoughts.

His emotions were visible. His eyes were closed to show emotion. Everyone was just staring. Draco and Ginny got up and began slow dancing.

Then, all the couples began dancing. The song seemed to drift them into Ron's world of love. The girls rested their heads on the guys' shoulders and the guys rested their heads on the girl's head.

Harry got ready. Then it came. The drum bashing and Ron's loud voice magnified. Everyone stopped. They all starred.

Ron had to sing that part with no breathing. He wasn't tired though. He kept on singing. Harry was having fun playing the drums. Ron's voice kept going.

That's when the song ended. Everyone was standing clapping and yelling on the top of their lungs. They were all surprised that Ron lasted through that part of the song. Everyone was smiling and having fun. "Everyone. Thank you. Thank you. I would also like to thank my drummer, Harry and my inspiration," Ron said. He bowed once more and walked off the stage. Everyone was still clapping. Then Harry went up to the mic.

"You guys, let this ball begin! Here's our first song, "The Safest Place" by a Muggle singer, LeAnn Rimes!" Harry yelled. Everyone was cheering. The whole ball was a blast. Harry walked up to Hermione.

"Well, this has been fun, huh?" he asked. She nodded.

"Yeah it has," she said. Hermione looked at him.

"You want to dance?" he asked. Hermione nodded and he guided her on to the floor. Ron watched this and he walked away.
