The Circle of Endless Confusion

Chapter 7: A Love Renewed

Ron led Hermione up to the Astronomy Tower, which they hadn't visited since Halloween night. She looked around and smiled, remembering that night.

"I'm sorry, Hermione. I love you. I'm sorry that I attacked Harry, but it just drove me crazy. One that he touched you in such a way, you belong to me! I love you and I can't stand the idea of another guy touching you. It also kind of hurts that he had you before I did," he said with a tear rolling down his cheek.

"I know, my love. I wish I could go back to that night. I wish it had been you and not him, but we can't go back and change it now. You're going to be the one that's really there for me. He's a great friend, to both of us, but he could never be what I need. He's in love with Draco, more than we could ever understand. He loves Draco as much as I love you. He wishes that night hadn't happened just as much as we do, but it did. We are all suffering the consequences of our decision and I hate that. I never wanted to hurt you, never," she said, crying and walking closer to him.

He took her into his arms, "God, Hermione, I love you. I don't care that he got to have you first, as long as I have you in the end. I will love your baby, because it is part of you. I just can't talk to him right now. Can you accept that, my love?" He wiped a tear away from her eye.

"I guess so, but don't forget I was involved too. It won't do much good to just be mad at him. But I understand that it's hard. I suppose the only reason you can talk to me is that you love me."

"That's the truth. If I didn't love you I wouldn't be here right now would I?" he said, smiling through the tears. "Let's just stay up here for awhile," he said and he conjured up a bed of roses.

"Mm, this is nice," she said, lying down in his arms.

"Yes, it certainly is," he said as they both drifted off to sleep.

They woke up the next morning still in the Astronomy Tower. They were lucky it was Sunday, almost everyone was still asleep. They reached the portrait hole and the Fat Lady was still asleep.

"Petunia Blossoms," Hermione said loudly and the portrait opened mumbling.

They walked into the common room and found Harry asleep on the couch by the dead fire.

"He must have fallen asleep waiting for us. I know you don't want to talk to him so I'll stay down here with him. You go on upstairs, Ron," she said, smiling at him.

"Are you sure?" he asked, his ears tinged pink with anger at the thought of leaving them alone.

"I'm positive. Don't worry; I just want to talk to him. I have a feeling he and Draco are going to have to have a big talk today," she replied, squeezing his hand.

"Oh, yeah. I didn't even think about the fact that this could be doing the same thing to his relationship."

"Yeah, I know you hate to think about it, but he really loves Draco. I hate that together we did something that could ruin that. You know Draco is touchy about things anyway. But go to sleep, Sweetheart, you need to rest."

"What about you? You're the one living for two. I don't want you to get too tired, my love."

"It's okay! You know I don't usually sleep much anyway. But he's waking up, so go to bed if you don't want to have to talk to him."

"Okay, have a good talk. Help him Hermione. My nature says that he deserves a broken heart, because he broke mine, but I know that he can't handle it," he said as he ran up the stairs to his dormitory.

"Hermione?" Harry asked, waking up and seeing her sitting next to him on the couch.

"'Morning sleepy head," she said, smiling.
