My Bloody Valentine

Oh my love, please don't cry

I'll wash my bloody hands

And we'll start a new life

I ripped out his throat

And called you on the telephone to take off my disguise

Just in time to hear you cry

When you mourn the death of your bloody valentine

The night he died

You mourned the death of your bloody valentine

One last time

I don't know much at all

I don't know wrong from right

All I know is that I love you tonight

There was...

Police and flashing lights

The rain came down so hard that night

The headlines read 'A lover died'

No tell tale heart was left to find

When you mourn the death of your bloody valentine

Tonight...

He dropped you off I followed him home

Then I stood outside his bedroom window

Standing over him he begged me not to do

What I knew I had to do

'Cause I'm so in love with you

Oh my love please don't cry I wash my bloody hands

And we'll start a new life

I don't know much at all

I don't know wrong from right

All I know is that I love you tonight

'My Bloody Valentine' Good Charlotte

~~
Draco watched as Potter escorted his witch to the door. The bloody bastard would learn tonight what happened when you laid claim to what was his. He and Ginny had been planning this for years and now finally it was time. They had tried everything else to free Ginny from Potter. None of it had worked. After seeing many of their friends die before their eye's, murdering Potter wasn't that hard of a decision. War had a way of taking innocence. Draco hadn't been able to kill Dumbledore but one battle after another for years and the both of them had been numbed to the point of being able to commit murder; everyone who'd fought was that way now. This would be the best Valentine he could give Ginny. His eyes narrowed as Potter leaned in to kiss Ginny. The idiot was so full of himself he missed the blatant disgust on her face. Merlin, I adore that witch. She's as anxious for this as I am.

~

Ginny watched out her front window as Harry started his muggle car. The savior of the wizarding world; The-Boy-Who-Lived-And-Defeated-Voldemort lived like a muggle. It was just one of the many marks against him in her eyes. First and foremost being that he wasn't Draco. Harry had turned his back on the wizarding world by fleeing after defeating Voldemort. It made no sense to Ginny why he insisted she live like a muggle; she wasn't a fanatic like her Dad and it made her uncomfortable. She saw the flash of white blond hair as Draco nodded to her before apparating away.

Its time then.

She curled on the couch and waited for the call that was sure to come. Harry had insisted she install a muggle telephone and she hated the thing. But tonight it would definitely have its uses. She watched the rain falling and hoped it wouldn't slow Draco down; but then again nothing stopped Draco from getting what he wanted. Hadn't he proved that too many times to count? He had captured Ginny's heart hadn't he? That had to show how far he'd go to get something he wanted.

~
Draco stood in the shadows as Potter opened the front door of his little muggle house. Draco sniffed. It was just like the wanker to go all muggle after gaining the glory of the wizarding world. It was going to be his pleasure to kill him finally and with Ginny's full agreement. It was just too bad she couldn't be here to watch it.

He circled the house and watched Potter set his wand down in the kitchen before going into the bedroom. Draco chuckled. So the great Chosen One thought he was safe now that the war was over and he was hiding out in the middle of a muggle neighborhood did he? Damn the rain! Then again it'll wash away all remnants of my presence.

"It'll be my pleasure to show you just how wrong you are," Draco whispered.

He carefully opened the window; still unlocked thanks to Ginny's brilliance and forward thinking. Potter was sound asleep as he lifted himself through the window. Too bad I can't take pictures for posterity, he thought wryly.

He stood over him for at least fifteen minutes before Potter's eyes flew open.

"Malfoy? What's this?"

Draco laughed wickedly and held up the knife.

"You've had your hands on what's mine for far too long Potter."

He sat up and backed against the headboard warily. Who could blame him? His wand was in the other room and Draco Malfoy standing over him with a big arse knife. There has to be some way to fight back. Do I dare? Maybe I can stall him.

"This is about Ginny?"

Draco couldn't resist a wolfish grin.

"Of course you fucking idiot. She's been mine for years. Before you ever set you sights on her. She's put up with you and her family pushing her towards you for far too long."

"Don't do this Malfoy. Remember all those years ago and what Dumbledore sacrificed to keep you from becoming a killer. Why don't you just go? I don't want to fight you unless I have too."

Draco sighed. So Potter was going to do this the hard way was he? Nothing less than was to be expected from a Gryffindor. His expression must have clued Potter in to the seriousness of the situation.

"Please Malfoy don't do this! I'll break it off with her if it's what you want."

Draco rolled his eyes. So we move to the begging portion of tonight's entertainment.

"Save it Potter. I came to kill you and that's what I intend to do. Gin wants you dead and I want you dead-"

Potter launched himself at Draco with fists flying. Draco had the knife buried in his chest before a punch could be landed. As Potter slumped over, Draco slit his throat. It was with deep satisfaction that he watched the life drain from Potter's body. Finally we're both free. He was careful to clean and then replace the knife in its sheath before pocketing it. He took off the first of two pairs of gloves that Ginny had recommended and stuck them in his pocket. After placing all the items that would make this look like a burglary into his bag, he climbed back out the window. He was extremely pleased with the night's events.

He stood in the shadows and watched the muggle police arrive. He was soaked to the skin as it was still raining but it was worth it to watch, under a disillusionment charm; of course. He apparated away, content that their plans had been executed perfectly.

~

The next morning the Daily Prophet's headline declared the tragic death of their hero on the most romantic day of the year. Next to a picture of Potter in his Chudley Cannons uniform was one of Ginny's tearstained face as Ronald led her into the Muggle Police Station. She was, as far as the world was concerned, mourning the death of her beloved fiancé. She had been practicing this little show for quite some time. If she hadn't played the grieving fiancé, the whole plan would have fallen apart.

Draco knew he had to be patient. The plan was that Ginny would leave Britain in three months time. She would claim the memories were too much for her. She was a brilliant actress.

~
Ginny fought the urge not to scream as the hundreds of mourners gave her their condolences. But she had played her part for years; this was the final act. Tomorrow she would retreat into her flat and soon she'd join Draco. The idiots had truly thought she would welcome Harry with open arms after his behavior at Dumbledore's funeral. It was sad really, that her family didn't know her at all. Luna's voice brought her out of her thoughts.

"Oh Ginny I'm so sorry. You know Blaise and I are here for you. If you need anything don't hesitate to contact us."

Their eyes met and both witches let the humor of the situation show in their own secret way. Luna and Blaise knew damned well that Ginny and Draco were together and had indeed helped hide the relationship for years now. They were here, as Ginny was, for form's sake. Draco had been officially gone for months otherwise he would have been expected as a fellow Order member of Ginny and Harry's. He'd chosen France instead. Ginny wished she could have had that choice but her role was very important. The grieving fiancé wouldn't be suspect and so she played her part.

~
Ginny withdrew from the world and begged the press to let her mourn in privacy. Then she packed her bag and left Britain. As far as her family knew, she was in Italy taking advantage of Luna and Blaise's offer of the use of their summer home. In truth, she was in the Paris penthouse that Draco had purchased when he moved Malfoy Inc.'s home office to Paris two years prior.

"I love you Gin."

She crossed the room to wrap her arms around his waist and stare out at the Paris skyline.

"I love you Draco."

He smiled. "So how do I top this Valentine, love?"

She tipped her head back and laughed until tears sprang up in her eyes.

"I don't know. How does one top murder? And one that was so brilliantly executed as well.

Draco swept her into his arms and kissed her soundly.

"Only the best for you," he whispered.

"Of course, I chose you didn't I?"

Draco couldn't help but marvel at the beautiful, wicked witch in his arms. Who would have thought that 'sweet, innocent Ginny Weasley' was in fact as sick and twisted as he was? It was one of those things Draco thought on frequently; he always came to the same conclusion: the gods had a sick and twisted sense of humor. One that Draco could admire almost as much as he admired Ginny.

"Yes I did. Best decision I ever made. Now let me show you how much I adore you Gin."

Ginny smiled sweetly. Yes this is exactly where I want to be. I knew I made the right choice. Harry would never have shown the devotion that Draco does. Harry would have never thought of giving me the type of Valentine Draco did; he knows me so well.
