Chapter 26

I pushed him away from me. "No," I said in a low voice.

"What?" he asked.

"I don't care if you're sorry or not, Draco, you don't hit me. Whether you are my husband or not, you have no right whatsoever to hit me, do you understand?"

He hung his head. "You're right," he whispered. "I lost it when I felt you were doing that. Why?" he asked me, his eyes full of sorrow.

No one hits me unless they are my father. My father is the only one who has that right, if only because he is my father and has the right to punish me if I do something wrong. Draco is not my father therefore he has no right to hit me.

I walked away without a word.

I passed Hermione in the hall and she had this look on her face that was almost saying that she knew! I rounded on her, furious with my husband for his lack of control and myself for not realizing that Draco could have spelled the blade. I shoved her up against the wall.

"What is going on?" I demanded.

She didn't answer me, so I repeated the question, this time yelling it in her face. She flinched under the sound of my harsh voice and tight grip on her shoulders that the arms attached to decided to shake.

She still didn't answer me, so I pulled her away from the wall a few inches before slamming her into it. "ANSWER ME!" I shouted.

"You're losing so much, Athena..." she whispered softly. "Don't let Draco be one of those things."

"What are you talking about?" I demanded. "What is going on?"

"You'll find out soon enough."

Frustrated, I let her go, only to turn around and find the eyes of a furious Harry Potter staring at me.

"Don't you dare start with me, Harry," I ordered.

"You leave my fiancé alone, do you understand?" he asked.

"Then you tell her to tell me what the fuck is going on!" I ordered.

He shook his head. "If she wanted to tell us, she would have told us a long time ago. Now, if you lay one more hand on her, I will rip you apart piece by piece with my bare hands."

"Then you'll have loads of fun with Draco. He wont stop with you until he's sure that your soul has been destroyed."

"You'll be leaving Hermione alone then," Harry informed me.

I could have laughed in his face, but I held myself back. When Lucius died, both Draco and I would be inheriting everything. Was this the way the future Mistress of the Manor should act? No.

So I walked away.

I turned the corner and went to the Snape wing of the Manor. I walked to my old room and locked the door behind me. I sighed, feeling the familiarity wash over me. Then, I turned around quickly and slammed my left arm into the wall, causing the pain to almost bring me to my knees. I gasped audibly, thankful that no one was in the room. I would much rather take my aggressions out on myself than my family.

What I wouldn't give to be out there right now though, fighting the Death Eaters...making them suffer at my hands...casting the Cruciatus Curse over and over on them as they begged me for mercy. What I wouldn't give to be one of them just once more.

Who would have known that I would be longing for the life I left behind?
