Chapter 01- Pain, revenge and hard, hard times

*Post-Hogwarts*

Fred Weasley had it all. A beautiful wife, a successful business and a loving family. The icing on the cake would have been some cute little kiddies, but every time Fred brought it up, his wife would make up some excuse.

"Angel?"

Angelina sighed wearily and turned to face her husband. "Yes, Fred?"

"I want one!" He nodded at his baby nephew in his arms.

"One what?" Angelina questioned, playing dumb.

Fred rolled his eyes and grinned at his wife. "A baby! I mean, just look at little James..."

"I've told you, Fred! I'm not ready!"

*Battle of Hogwarts*

Harry watched from his hiding place as Voldemort held his wand over the twitching body of Severus Snape. He wondered if he should try to disarm Voldemort, but try as he might he couldn't drag his eyes away from the man who he hated most in the world being tortured. It gave him a sick, twisted feeling of pleasure.

"CRUCIO!" Voldemort cried again, the minute Snape had lain still.

Snape turned his head to face him master and pleaded with him silently. Harry could see the pain reflected in Snape's eyes, but still he watched.

"I'm going to kill you, Severus. It really is a shame..."

"Please," whispered Snape. "Please, Tom."

Voldemort froze. "What did you just say?"

*Post-Hogwarts*

"REMUS!"

Remus Lupin had never run so fast in his entire life.

"What is it? Tonks, are you...?" He stopped the minute he entered the room. His wife sat on the end of the bed, covered in blood.

"Did you lose it?"

Tonks nodded tearfully. "I'm so sorry, Remus!"

Lupin sat down next to her and pulled her into a tight embrace. "It's not your fault, love. It just wasn't meant to be. We're blessed with a son already. Maybe we're not meant to have more than one child."

He felt her nodding against his shoulder. "I know you're right, it's just hard. I just wanted a little brother or sister for Teddy.."

She burst into tears.

*Battle of Hogwarts*

Voldemort lowered his wand. "How can I kill you now, Severus?"

He met Snape's fearful gaze with a different kind of fear.

"I am sorry."

He stepped over Snape's body and strode away, not daring to look back.

Harry watched all this is surprise. As if it wasn't weird enough that Voldemort was going to kill his favourite Death Eater for no apparent reason, he had just tortured him but left him alive. It made no sense whatsoever.

Pulling off his invisibility cloak, Harry emerged from the bushes.

"Potter?"

Snape reached out for Harry but he would not come nearer.

"Please help me, Potter."

Harry shook his head and raised his wand. Snape looked at him curiously.

"AVADA KEVADRA!"

He died with the same curious expression on his face.

*Future Generation at Hogwarts*

Rose was on cloud nine. She had turned seventeen just yesterday. She was in a steady relationship with a gorgeous Slytherin. She was a prefect. Life couldn't be sweeter.

"Scorpius? You here?" she called.

A red faced Scorpius Malfoy appeared from behind a tree.

"Oh, um, Rose! Your early!" he stammered, clearly flustered. He kept smoothing down his shirt.

Aw, she thought. He wants to look good for our date.

"I know, I'm sorry! I was so excited though..."

Scorpius smiled, sheepishly. "Yeah, yeah, me too! But can you come back in an hour or so?"

Rose frowned. "Why? I don't..."

A strange sight met Rose's eyes, making her forget what she was about to say. Her fifteen year old cousin, Lily, was buttoning her blouse behind the tree that Scorpius had just appeared from.
