Game Over
Blaise stared out the window. He had a feeling today would be the day, but as it turned out, it wasn't the day. Another day passing by, and nothing to be proud of. No letter, meant no money, and no money meant no pet, and no pet meant being a laughingstock at Hogwarts, worst of all, his first year at Hogwarts.
"Blaise, still wondering why your letter hasn't arrived yet?" a scratchy voice asked. Blaise shuddered. The last thing he wanted to see was Elizabeth Abbott. She was such a prat.
"No," Blaise answered coldly. Elizabeth opened his room door, without asking mind you, and entered the room. She walked up to Blaise and looked at him with her small, Chinese-like eyes.
"Hmm, I just came to see if you were all right. I mean, you're like, what, the only one without a letter yet. How does it feel?" Elizabeth chatted. Blaise wanted to punch the girl, right there, in her ugly face. But he didn't.
"Shut up, and go away," he growled. Elizabeth didn't even flinch.
"You know, you could be nicer, huh?" Elizabeth responded bossily. Blaise grunted. Why, oh why did he had to deal with girls like this one?
"No, and go away!" he finally exploded. Elizabeth groaned and muttered under her breath. Blaise didn't even bother listening to her. It wasn't even worth looking at her.
The door closed behind Elizabeth, and Blaise returned his gaze to the window. Outside a beautiful sun was lighting the yard, more like a forest, and the light was slowly making its way toward Blaise's window. Then Blaise saw it. An owl! A strong, brown, little owl, with something on its claws!
"Calm down Blaise, this may not be your letter," Blaise told himself, but he could not hold it. He had to jump of joy! Maybe today was the day he would earn respect, and finally shut up Elizabeth Abbott.
Blaise looked at the tiny owl, which was far away. His heart skipped and his eyes didn't want to let go of the owl. His mind was working on snap-backs for Elizabeth and Mark, and his arm wanted to reach out for the owl.
Finally, after several minutes of watching, the owl seemed to be nearer this time. But to Blaise's amazement, this was no little owl, more like a gigantic owl! His breath stopped, and he felt his legs walking towards the door. Not walking, but running ow. He could see the hall, and he could see the stairway closer. He could feel his breath running out, and he could now see the steps. Now he felt his stomach making a knot as he walked down the oak staircase. Just a few more steps and he would see if the letter was for him or not.
"Louise! Louise!" Blaise called, as he felt his feet on the floor again. A very young french girl with blonde curls came in.
"What is wrong with you now, Blaise?" the girl asked, a heavy french accent on her mouth. Blaise smiled at her.
"I think it is time for me to show everyone I'm not a muggle," he said, his face shining with proudness. Louise laughed heartily.
"Whatever you say, Master Cannon!" Louise joked. Blaise felt like throwing a tantrum, but decided he was too mature for little kids stuff.
" I was not joking Louise, now go outside with a bowl of fresh spring water and a carrot and receive our future guest, please," Blaise ordered with royalty. Louise gasped.
"You are not kidding, are you Blaise?" she looked at Blaise and rushed towards the kitchen, muttering something in french to herself.
Blaise sighed and walked out of the house. The owl was now just landing besides Blaise, who without fear smiled. Blaise knelt down and took out the letter. It had a red stamp or something. This was, surely by all means, a Hogwarts letter.
