Chapter Two

When I awoke the next morning, my room was full of sunlight and it took me a full minute to realise where I was and events of the previous night returned to me, and I sat up quickly.

Someone had come up and pulled the covers over me during the night. They had also removed my shoes. Mrs. Weasley, I thought, realising whom must've done it. Ginny's mum was a nice lady who had adopted me into her family as well as my brother.

"My brother . . ." I breathed, looking uncertainly down at my feet . . . no, downstairs. Although Harry Potter was my brother, he didn't even know about me, and I didn't know him. We were as much of strangers as . . . well, strangers were.

But before I could dwell on this, the door bounced open, and Ginny came in, already chattering her head off. "Mum said that you got here last night and that you were still sleeping. And she said not to wake you up, so I'm sorry if I did. Were you still asleep? It doesn't look like you were. So what--"

"Gin, will you please give a person time to answer a question before you continue on to the next one?" I asked warily. Ginny grinned slightly, and I said, "I wasn't sleeping. I was thinking."
"About Harry?" Ginny said with a grin. "Everybody knows you've got a crush on him. You're always watching him."

"I do not have a crush on him!" I insisted. "For the thousandth time, Gin, there are conditions out of my control that I can't explain to you. One day I might be able to, but for now, I just have to figure them out for myself."

Ginny made a face at me, and then said, "Oh, I almost forgot. Lupin wants to talk to you downstairs, but he said not to wake you if you were still asleep. You must've gotten here late last night."

"Yeah . . ." I said warily, pushing back a lock of my dark hair. "Late." I reached for some clothes in my trunk and began to dress as Ginny let herself out.

"Is the reasons out of your control have anything to do with you look kind of alike?" she asked suddenly, halfway out the door. "You and Harry?"

"Ginny!" I snapped, and she grinned, and hurried out the door and down the stairs. Sighing, I pulled on jeans and a blue tee shirt, pulling a sweatshirt jacket over that. Then I went downstairs to find Professor Lupin.

I was on the second landing when one of the doors opened and out of the door came . . . my brother. "Hey," he said, and looked me up and down. "You're Ginny's friend, aren't you? Gwyn . . . something, right?" He had the grace to grin slightly as he said this.

"Gwyn Sawyer," I answered shyly, and stretched out my hand. Harry took it, and shook my hand before dropping it. "I was just looking for Professor Lupin. Ginny said that he wanted to see me."

"Well, Remus left about a half-hour ago," Harry said with a shrug. "Some kind of urgent business. I didn't think that he was back yet." His emerald green eyes--the same as my own and my sister's--met mine, and he frowned slightly. "Who--who are you?" he whispered softly.

I let out a deep sigh, and gave him a small smile. "You know who I am, Harry Potter," I told him. "You know."

"But--but it's impossible!" Harry protested, his eyes wide now. "You--you can't be!" I reached out a hand to calm him, and he took a deep breath, staring at me wildly now. "My sister?"

Nodding once, I slipped off the necklace that I always wore around my neck and handed it to him. Engraved on the inside it read:

Gwyn Lillian Potter,

youngest child and

second daughter of

James and Lily Evans Potter.

June 2nd.

Harry stared at it, then looked to me and said hesitantly, "Second daughter? Your twin sister, right? Ginny said something about you had a twin sister . . ."

"Her name is Sharon," I said warily. "And she's in Slytherin. She ran away last night from the orphanage that we were staying at and I think she went to join up with Voldemort."

"A sister of mine joined up with Voldemort," Harry said in disgust. "That's just great." His eyes flickered to mine, and he said quickly, "Sorry. I didn't mean--"

"Do you think I like it any better having a twin who turned on me?" I asked him incredulously. "It's not like that. Honestly, she's like a rival or enemy of mine who just happens to look exactly like me. Believe me, Harry, I'd rather eat slugs than go after our sister and follow her ways."

"Yeah, I believe you," Harry said with a slight smile. "And if you want, ask Ron about the eating slugs experience. He'll tell you how much fun it is." Both of us laughed, and footsteps made us turn around.

Professor Lupin was watching us, torn between amusement and anxiety. "So . . . how much did you hear?" I asked him with a smile.

"Not much. snippets . . ." Lupin said with a wink.

"Snippets?" I repeated, and Harry grinned.

"Little snippets," Lupin agreed.

"So basically everything that we said in this hallway that probably the entire house in listening in on?" I asked.

"Basically everything, yes," Lupin said with a laugh. Harry shook his head. "And since you know about Sharon, Harry . . . I suppose both of you should come," Lupin added, turning serious again.

I looked at my brother, who looked at me in turn, and both of us followed Lupin downstairs and into the Order's private meeting room.

"Sevreus was able to get information while inside Voldemort's home," Lupin said warily. "Sharon apparently has gotten there safely and has been planning on this for months. Voldemort also hoped that she would bring you with her, Gwyn. But since she didn't, Sevreus thinks that Voldemort and Sharon are planning something else. My guess is that it has something to do with the two of you.

"And there is a lot more. You both know Draco Malfoy, don't you?" Harry and I both nodded. Malfoy was Harry's rival at Hogwarts, and his father was one of Voldemort's Death Eaters. "Voldemort has high hopes for Draco, and such has arranged the marriage between the two. Sharon and Draco will be married in a month."

"WHAT?!" both of us shouted, and Lupin smiled ruefully. "Sharon's going to marry Malfoy?" I added, torn between shock and disgust. "I didn't think that she would even consider that. She agrees with his ways, yes, but I didn't think she was too fond of him. Or him of her."

"It seems that's what they wanted us to think. But once they get word that Harry knows about you and Sharon . . ." Lupin added, his eyes alert. "Then they could use that to their advantage."

"They could make me think that Sharon's Gwyn," Harry said nonchalantly. "And kidnap Gwyn in the process." Lupin sighed, and nodded reluctantly.

"Professor Lupin, I am not a kid anymore, I know how to take care of myself," I said, enraged. "And I know how to deal with my sister and her friends."

"Thinking you can deal with it without any help from adults?" Harry said in amazement. "Ah, jeez! You really are my sister."

Lupin chuckled, and I playfully hit my brother. "Not funny, big brother," I said, but I was smiling. Harry grinned slightly, and I looked at Lupin, and sighed. "Okay, so what does the Order have planned so I don't make an idiot out of myself?"

"We were thinking that once Harry was told, you two continue on how you acted to each other before. Talk to each other every once in a while, but not interact," Lupin admitted, and spotted the less than happy looks on Harry's and my faces. "I know, I didn't like much either. So we came up with another option."

"Which is?" I asked suspiciously. Lupin let out a deep sigh, and looked at the two of us warily.

"We came up with another option, which is that Gwyn and Ginny spend about as much time with you, Ron, and Hermione as the three of you do normally, Harry," Lupin said. "And I don't think Sharon will be fool enough to intervene with five of you. It's just too risky."

"What do you think about this?" Harry asked me warily. "It doesn't seem like it would work. But I suppose . . . it's worth a try?"
"I agree," I said, slipping an arm around my brother. "Look at the bright side, at least us Potters are together, right?"

Harry let out a half-laugh, and shook his head. "At least I have some family who care about me, you mean."
