Chapter One: Waters Troubled
It was just about midnight off the shores of Ireland. Everything was silent except for the quiet sound of the waves softly breaking on the shore. Then all of a sudden, two dolphins appeared from below the soft, clear waters. They seemed both to be carrying part of a shell each.
As they neared the shore, the skin of one started to show changes. First in color but than in shape. All of a sudden there was no sign of any dolphins, just a pair of people dressed both in robes of blue. However the woman's was Periwinkle, but the man's seemed to be made of smooth silk that looked remarkably like the waters surrounding them.
"Are you sure this is necessary, Poseidon?" asked the woman, who was remarkably beautiful.
"Yes Aphrodite, I am quite certain" the man said. I probably don't need to mention to the reader that this was a conversation between some of the most famous Greek gods in history. " As I have told you many times, he can not grow up as an immortal, for that will defeat the whole purpose of the prophecy."
"All right, all right, I understand," said the beautiful goddess, as she set down the shell into the sand. And with that, the only sign of the conversation were two dolphins swimming away into the waters.
***********
While this conversation had been going on, inside a pub right near the coast, the American wizard/tourist Blake O'Reilly was trying to tell the stubborn pub owner that he simply could not gamble under any circumstances. Having just about enough of the nonsense, Mr. O'Reilly decided to go walking on the beach.
It was this that led the American to stumble over a seashell. However, instead of cracking, this seashell let out a noise, sounding just like a baby's cry.
