Prologue

Special Report to the Director,

Magical Community Relations and Social Planning Task Force

Department of Records and Numbers

15th June 1998

Re: Pansy Maximilia Eugenie Parkinson (File: OM 77353)

This investigation team, comprising of representatives from the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and the Department of Records and Numbers, respectively, have been asked to summarise our previously submitted report regarding Miss Pansy Parkinson, for the benefit of the newly appointed MCRSPTF Director.

Professor Severus Snape, Head of Slytherin House at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has also provided his comments overleaf. Although not requested to participate in the activities of this team at this time, Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy has insisted on including a statement in support of Miss Parkinson's character. The latter has not been officially included as part of this report and can instead be found in the appendices of the original report (see: Appendix W).

Miss Parkinson, aged seventeen years at the issuing of this report, is the only child of prominent wizarding merchant, Robert Raymond Parkinson, and his second wife, Eugenie Parkinson nee Montague. The family's main residence is in Kent, although they also maintain several homes in Spain, Italy and in the South of France. Further details and a brief family biography has been included in the original report (see: Appendices A through to H)

The Parkinsons are an established, well regarded and affluent British wizarding family with strong ties to local European and international wizarding business communities. Miss Parkinson's paternal grandfather, Robert Parkinson Senior, in particular, was notably influential during his tenure as Director of the Ministry Treasury Department from 1945 to 1960. In 1973, Robert Parkinson Junior was presented with an 'Award for Outstanding Contribution' by the British Merchant Wizarding Council. The family is also known for its numerous philanthropic endeavours, with Mrs. Parkinson having made numerous donations to St Mungos and hosting annual fund-raising activities.

Throughout her seven years of attendance at Hogwarts, Miss Parkinson has been both a model student and a model member of House Slytherin. She is ranked among the top ten per cent of her class with particular academic emphasis in the areas of Charms and Arithmancy. Outside of school, Miss Parkinson enjoys horseback riding, flower arrangement and participating in junior dueling tournaments. It is a little-known fact among her classmates that she speaks four human languages and is fluent in Gobbledegook.

Careers advice counseling undertaken at Hogwarts in Miss Parkinson's fifth year of schooling reveal a preference towards a career in financial management upon her graduation from Hogwarts. Her exceptional marks and interest in Arithmancy would support this. She has since applied for a position at Gringotts Bank, Diagon Alley Branch. The outcome of her application is not known at this time.

In terms of suitors and alliance via pending marriage, Miss Parkinson is yet unbethrothed, despite the numerous and strenuous efforts of her parents. She has been romantically linked to Draco Malfoy (File: OM 54500), Blaise Zabini (File: OM 70002) and Donald Phelps, a recent graduate of Beauxbatons Academy.

As has been previously stated in the conclusion of our original report, are unable as yet to issue any recommendations, due in no small part to Miss Parkinson's extreme reticence in cooperating fully with these investigations. While Miss Parkinson's presented a largely indifferent attitude towards He Who Must Not Be Named's current campaign, and neither does her family possess overt ties to He Who Must Not Be Named, it should perhaps be noted that she was most vocal about the issue of racial segregation among the various human members of the wizarding community. Her support for such a stance is wholehearted.

In addition, and perhaps even more worrying, is the fact that Miss Parkinson harbours and extreme, personal dislike towards Harry Potter. Again, Professor Severus Snape has provided his comments overleaf, in relation to this fact.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require further clarification with regards to this summary, or for that matter, our original report on Miss Parkinson.

Kind Regards,

Investigative Officer Gretel Flinks,

Department of Records and Numbers,

British Ministry of Magic.
