Harry sat alone on his bed in the fifth year boys' dormitory. He was thinking about his break-up with Cho. He wasn't sure if he was over her, but for some reason, he was glad they had broken up. Maybe it was because he was sick and tied of her always talking about her dead ex-boyfriend Cedric Diggory, or maybe it was the feelings he held for a certain red-headed forth year girl by the name of Ginny Weasley.

All these years, Harry had ignored Ginny's attempt to get his attention, but he now regretted it. The moment he got with Cho seemed to be the moment Ginny stopped liking him, and as the saying goes, when you want someone, you can't have them, but when you don't, you can. Not very fair.

Harry moved uncomfortably on his bed. He was the only Gryffindor fifth year boy without a girlfriend now, even Neville had one, a Gryffindor forth year named Gwendolyn Daywinter. Ron had Hermione; Dean had Parvati and Seamus had Lavender. Who did Harry have? No one.

"Harry?" It was Ron. Seeing Harry slightly upset, he walked in, holding Hermione's hand, and sat down at the edge of the bed. "What's up?"

"I like Ginny," Harry answered simply. Ron stared at him, not saying anything, so Hermione spoke.

"We'll tell her. She'll definitely be happy. She never stops talking about you and she was so happy when you broke up with Cho," she said, "she was really upset when you got with Cho too. She felt rejected...as most girls would in that circumstance."

"But does she like me for me or for The Boy Who Lived?" Harry asked.

"I thought you'd ask that," Hermione said, "and the only way you'll find out is if you ask her."

"But -"

"Harry, just go. She's down in the Common Room beating Colin at chess," Ron interrupted, pointing to the door.

"And could you take Crookshanks with you, Harry?" Hermione asked, directing Harry's gaze to the big bundle of fur on Ron's bed.

"Okay," Harry said, taking a deep breath and gathered Crookshanks into his arms before heading to the door. "Play quietly, you two."

"We don't play, Harry!" Hermione said.

"Yeah, so shut up, Harry and go get my sister," Ron said, before kissing Hermione.

Harry walked out of the dormitory and made his way down to the Common Room, where he found Ginny playing chess with Colin Creevy -as Ron had said. Hetook another deep breath and approached them.

"Excuse me, Colin, but I would like to talk to Ginny alone for a second," he said clearly, gazing at Ginny out of the corner of his eye.

"Sure, Harry," Colin said cheerfully and getting up, the camera around his neck swinging madly as he did so. Once Colin was out of earshot, Harry took his now empty seat and looked at Ginny, who was sitting nervously and bitting her lower lip.

"Ginny, do you like me for me or for The Boy Who Lived?" he asked. Ginny looked at him confused before answering.

"For you," she said quietly. "At first, it was because you were, yes, The Boy Who Lived, by now, I like you for you. A lot as well."

"So you don't like me just because I'm famous?" Harry asked.

"No. I like you for who you are inside and out," Ginny replied.

"And how much do you like me?" Harry asked, smiling happily.

Ginny shuffled uncomfortably in her chair and there was a rather long pause before she answered. "A lot," she said finally.

"Just a lot?"

"Alright, heaps."

"Just heaps?"

"Loads. There I said it. I like you loads," Ginny said.

"I feel the same way about you, Gin," Harry said. "Will you go out with me?"

Ginny smiled before she said, "Hell yes!" and getting up and flinging her arms around his neck and hugging him.

Harry hugged her back and asked, "Have you had your first kiss yet, Gin?" in a whisper to her ear. He felt her shake her head. "Well it's time you did."

And he lent back, bent down and started kissing her, happy she responded quickly and passionately.
