Lilith

As Lilith walked into the Great hall she thought to herself, "What the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here; I'm not a witch. At least I don't think so..." She saw a tall man in front of her with a long gray beard and a twinkle in his eye.

"Let the sorting begin," he said.

One by one they went up to be sorted. They'd go up, some thrilled, some nervous, and some were just completely scared out of their mind at the thought of a talking hat but, hey they're only first years. They would sit with an old patched, gray wizard's hat on their head and every once in a while the hat would call out, "Gryffindor!" or "Ravenclaw!" or "Hufflepuff!" and every once in a while you'd get a "Slytherin!" Which is the worst sorting you could get. Although some didn't see it that way. She knew this because she had read up on Hogwarts ever since she had gotten her letter in July. In just two months her life had changed forever.

She looked around the room and saw many people, but she was drawn to only one of them. He had dark black hair and soothing green eyes. His eyes were the things she focused on the most. They looked as if he could take all her pain away feed all her hunger. "I have to meet him," she thought. She looked around at where he was sitting and saw an open seat. As she got closer she saw a few other people but the two that captured her attention seemed to be the boy's best friends. One was stuffing his face full of food and he had fire red hair. He was certainly quite the character. The other one was a girl. She had a cheery look on her face and she had her head stuck in a book but Lilith couldn't see from where she was standing what it was called.

As she made her way over to the Gryffindor table, a tall blonde boy stopped her right in her path.

"And where do you think you're going?" he asked with a smirk.

"Over there," she said, pointing toward the table but still looking him square in the eyes.

"You're not going to sit with Potter and Weasley are you?" he questioned her, as he looked her up and down slowly. He seemed to be sizing her up, trying to figure out what to make of her.

"So that's who that boy is. I wonder why I'm so drawn to him," she thought

"Are you going to answer me?" the blonde boy asked, pulling her back to reality.

"If you mean over there, then yes," she replied, still pointing to the spot where Harry was sitting. The blonde boy took another look at her, taking in much more this time.

The blonde boy smirked again. "What could you possibly want with Potter? I'm the one who could really sweep you off your feet. I'll take you places you've never been"

"Well that may all be true, but I don't want to go places I've never been just yet and if I do you won't be the first one I call," replied Lilith.

"Lilith had had enough. Disgusted, she stepped past the blonde boy, and continued her way toward Harry. As she did so, a chill ran up and down her spine." Little did she know that that chill was going to visit frequently throughout her stay at Hogwarts.

Harry was sitting at the Gryffindor table with Ron and Hermione. Ron, as usual, was stuffing his face full of the delicious food from the banquet. Hermione was also doing something that she usually did. She had her nose stuck in a book.

"What's that book called again?" Harry asked Hermione, trying to pretend

he was interested.

"Vampires and Werewolves," she replied, "It tells you all about vampires and werewolves, how to tell whether or not somebody is one, how to catch it, how to..."

Harry's eyes drifted away as he saw someone approaching their table. It was a girl with dark black hair and luscious green eyes.

"I have to meet her. I have to know her name... wonder if she'll walk over here? She's so beautiful... Wait, is she coming over? Wow... I think she is..."

"HARRY? EARTH TO HARRY!" Hermione said loudly, desperately trying to shake him out of his trance.

"Huh?" Harry felt like someone had just hit him hard on the head and he came out of his reverie, trying to focus on the conversation.

"You weren't listening to a thing I said were you?" asked Hermione. "I..." Her voice trailed off as she saw a girl walking towards them. She also saw that Harry was staring at her.

Finally Lilith arrived and stood there hoping to be invited to sit down.

"Hi," she said seductively. "My name's Lilith. What's yours?" even though she already knew, she wanted to be polite, and not scare him off by knowing too much. She definitely didn't want him to think she was stalking him or anything.

"Harry, hey Harry!" said Ron. "Answer the girl's question."

"Oh," Harry said clearing his throat. "I'm Harry. Nice to meet you Lilith."

"Ahem," chimed in Hermione and Ron, waiting to be introduced to the girl who was now sitting beside them.

"Oh yeah, and this is Hermione and Ron." Harry said.

"Pleased to meet you," said Hermione seeming very excited to have met another girl her own age.

"Yeah, me too," said Ron gruffly, not seeming very interested in the conversation but more interested in finishing what was on his plate.

"Would you like to sit with us?" asked Harry trying to focus back to the conversation, and get his eyes off Lilith and back onto his plate, although it was quite hard.

"Sure," replied Lilith, very happy to be accepted by her new friends.

"Sure sit with us," cheered Hermione.

So the group sat and talked for a while and then the conversation of how Lilith got her letter so late came up. She was forced to come up with an answer.

"Well, I don't know exactly what happened," she said, "I know my mother is dead and my father is out there somewhere. All I know is that apparently I'm a witch and that the Ministry or what ever just found out I even existed. They thought I was lost at birth. I don't know how they found me though."

"So you're saying that you just randomly got your letter one day?" asked Hermione, seeming very interested in the subject. "I mean just one day you got your letter and that was it? Now you're here?"

"Well I guess so," Lilith replied, "All I know is that a few months ago I was at the movie theater with my boyfriend." She saw Harry give her a worried look and she immediately corrected her self.

"Sorry, ex-boyfriend, it was a long time ago," she added, "And..." Her voice trailed off. She seemed like she was struggling with something. She took another look into Harry's deep green eyes and found the courage to continue. "And we were watching the movie and I leaned in to kiss him,"

She saw a glint of anger in Harry's eyes and it stopped her for a moment.

"And I did kiss him, and all of the sudden he was lying dead on the floor! I had no idea what happened after that, I... I just r-ran s-so f-fast and I d-didn't know w-what t-to do!" She started sobbing hysterically, causing much attention from their own table and other tables as well.

"What are you staring at?" asked Harry, trying to get the attention off Lilith and himself, Harry hated attention and he wanted to have as little as possible this year. He was hoping that this year the shock of him being "The-Boy-Who-Lived" would be over since he was now in his sixth year.

"All I want this year is to just be a normal teenage wizard and maybe have a girlfriend," he thought and quietly chuckled to himself even though he had a feeling inside that as much as he wanted to be normal, he never would be. He had a feeling that he was in for another year at Hogwarts much like the others, full of danger and excitement.

Eventually everyone got the message and quietly went back to worrying about their conversations and their food. However it wasn't much longer before they were interrupted yet again. A cruel looking wizard with a glint of malice in his eyes approached them. His black robes bellowed out from behind him as he walked.

"Mr. Potter," he sneered. "What are you up to? Not getting in trouble already, are we?"

"No Professor Snape," said Hermione, "Everything's fine."

"Well good, wouldn't want to have any trouble on the first day would we? It would look horribly bad for your house. Any more trouble and it will be ten points from Gryffindor. Understand Potter?" Harry gave a silent nod.

"Good," replied Snape, "There had better not be any more trouble. And Mr. Weasley that goes for you too."

He walked away leaving the group with their new friend.

"Who was that?" inquired Lilith.

"Professor Snape, replied Hermione, "He's the Potions teacher but everyone knows all he wants is the Defense Against the Dark Arts job."

"Yeah, probably because he has so much experience in that area, replied Ron, now finished with his food and interested in the conversation. Ron hated Professor Snape almost as much as Harry did, and never lost an opportunity to tell everyone how much he hated him and all the mean stuff he had done to him and Harry through the years.

"Yeah but enough about him I'm sure you want to hear all about Hogwarts," said Harry wanting to get off the subject, for some reason mentioning Professor Snape was making a slight tingle in his scar. Even though he hoped and wished that it was nothing. However it most likely wasn't. Harry had learned from experience that when his scar hurt it was never good news, and not telling somebody always made it worse. But Harry, not wanting to worry his friends or anyone else just yet ignored it and began to tell Lilith about Hogwarts and how to get to her classes and which teachers were best, and told tales about past DADA teachers.

It was soon after that Dumbledore closed the feast with his usual speech, describing and reminding the students of old and new rules. He dismissed them and the Gryffindors followed Ron and Hermione to the Common Room. It was then when Harry explained to Lilith that Ron and Hermione were prefects and told her all about their jobs. He also explained about the brief period when Professor Umbridge was Headmaster, although that made his scar hurt even more so he changed the subject.

Once they learned the new password and were inside Gryffindor tower, they said their goodbyes and went to bed. As Harry was going to bed, a strange thought crossed his mind

"There's something strange about that girl. I like her and fear her all at the same time," he thought, getting into bed.

Disturbed by his own thought, he quietly muttered goodnight to Ron and went to sleep, only to soon be awakened by a horrible dream. A very weird, very scary dream. He couldn't help but feel that it was more than a dream. He couldn't help but feel that it was a prediction of what was to come.
