Hermione was always the sensitive type, first to notice when someone fancied another. Yet sadly, she was unable to read the feelings of one very dear to her, one who kept his feelings bottled up for so long it would have killed him....This is a poem by someone who has lost a love too....

At first sight....

His heart had skipped a beat for her

The minute they had met

And like a feathery -light whisper

His heart on her he had set

Silent pain.....

Yet said he not a word on his part

But trudged his weary way

Even when others had stolen her heart

His anguish was well hid away

Loyalty burning bright....

Others who entered his life only sparked

While for her in his heart did roar majestic flames

His mind was too full, his destiny marked

With hers alone, and no other names

All in vain....

Sacrifices he made in full measure

In hopes that one day she would read his mind

To see that she was his lone precious treasure

But alas, not a hint she did find

A hopeful desire...

He had hoped to hold her in his arms

At the Ball, gazing into her eyes

Yet she succumbed to a Seeker's dark charms

As he stole her away as his prize

Dashed by someone...

Even among them, her friends, she had chosen

The one who she felt was her perfect mate

Her heart, he felt, was stone-cold and frozen

Yet his feelings for her did in no way abate.

His friend was her fire....

Yes, The Boy who Lived, emerald -eyed

Ebony hair, and a heart made of gold

He was the one over whom she sighed

Not the fiery redhead whose heart burnt bold

His pain was their fun...

He floundered through Hell when he saw them together

Their smiles and sweet glances seared through his brain

He shivered in agony, not knowing whether

They were mocking him, fuelling further hot pain

Had they his mind read...

Had the two known his feelings, they would have been shocked

For neither would injure a comrade so dear

But know they did not, for he kept his heart locked

Even to them his emotions unclear

The battle's morning...

The day of judgment grew near and imposing

As the three of them battled their enemy anew

Two ended the day in sweet Death reposing

While the third was left to mourn his friends true

Alas, two lay dead...

Even in bitterness he'd not wished them dead

And yet now they lay in eternal rest

And as the coffins lowered into their earthy bed,

He sobbed o'er their graves, a void in his chest

But for him, a new day dawning......

Just then, he looked up and not a word he spake

As he beheld her form just above

And his heart did from its brokenness unbreak

When she said, " 'Tis you who I love"

(Note: In case you hadn't noticed, the italicized line above each paragraph when read in succession forms a shorter version of the poem. This brief version is very vague and unclear and open to interpretation. Plus it could be applicable for any love triangle!!)
