Haunting Memories

By Tammy (R. E. S. Tammy T. K.)

As silver raindrops gently touched her head, she looked up at the now darkened sky and wondered how long she had been there this time. She looked back at the gravestones, more raindrops fell and she looked at the dark, foggy pathway she had come through. Pain and sorrow rushed through her veins, since she knew she would have to leave. She turned around and started walking, knowing she had a very long way to go.

It must have taken her hours to get back since it was past midnight when she got into bed. Life was so hard for her now, because when they died, she died too. Then there was a faint knock on her door. The knocking kept on going and going since no one was answering the door. The furious knocking finally died away and sorrowful sobs were heard from the other side. She finally decided to open the door for the desperate person on the other side. With difficulty she walked over to open the door. On the other side she found Ginny Weasley sobbing hysterically.

"H-Her-Hermione!" she managed to choke out. Hermione knelt next to Ginny and gently helped back on her feet. They both sat silent on Hermione's un-made bed, she had been extremely unorganized these past few days. Not only that, but she hadn't talked since that day. Ginny was now trying to calm down. "I miss him so much!" she screamed and threw herself in Hermione's arms.

"I do too," Hermione managed to say, which she had wanted to say for a very long time now. At this Ginny stopped her uncontrollable sobbing and stared wide-eyed at her dead brother's best friend.

"Hermione," she whispered happily. Hermione didn't know that talking to someone could make him or her so happy.

"Hermione please help me snap out of it. You and I both need to, we've been at it for months we're complete wrecks. It has affected many people in great ways, but they've all at least tried to get back to their normal lives. Hermione, many people are extremely worried about you, McGonagall has even called in a shrink to talk to you!" Ginny breathed. Hermione now got up and headed for the door once again.

"Does this mean you're gonna listen to me and go on with your life?!" Ginny exclaimed excitedly.

"I never planned to do that!" Hermione answered. She led Ginny to the great hall, it was breakfast time and everybody was now seated. As soon as Hermione walked into the room silence fell upon every table.

"It really was a blast for me growing up with most of you guys, and I love all of you very much! And I know you all think that I'm really strong, but the truth is that I'm really not, not without my best friends! And now I am here to say to you all my very last good-bye, and hopefully you'll have a better life than I ever did!" With a last smile she around and headed to her room. Many sobs were heard from the great hall at that moment. None of them actually expected Hermione to go through life without them, they had always been so very close. Ever since their 5th year the four of them had been completely inseparable.

May them now rest in peace: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Draco Malfoy and of-course Hermione Granger.
