Chapter One:
-----
Draco sat in the library doing his Transfiguration homework. He had been struggling on it for a while but he was unable to focus on anything. His thoughts where stuck on a certain someone. Someone who had broken his heart.
"Hermione," Draco whispered.
He raised his head and looked out the window. It was beautiful outside. Colorful flowers decorated the large garden outside of Hogwarts. Trees shaded the area and created a soft, calming melody from the warm breeze. Grass was lush and the sun danced on the lake as it was setting. Draco turned his head and gazed out to the vast land. Pain suddenly filled his grey eyes and his heart clenched in agony. He tried to look away, but he couldn't move. He was hypnotized at how happy Hermione was with Harry.
Tears ran down his cheeks and to his essay while his body shuddered with sobs. He slammed his book closed and put his head in his arms as he tried to ease the pain. His mind filled with thoughts and his heart felt like it was going to burst. Drowning in misery, he didn't notice his friend come in.
Pansy looked at Draco and shook her head. This had been going on for a while and, she decided, it was time she told him.
"Draco," she said softly, "it's ok. Please, dry your tears. I don't want to see you cry. Come on, I think I may still have some dreamless potions left."
'So much for telling him,' she added mentally.
"No, I don't want to go. Please... leave me alone."
"Dammit, Draco! You've got to get over her!"
He rose his head and stared at Pansy. She cringed visibly at the sight. Draco's eyes were hard and emotionless.
"Pansy, have you any idea how this feels?" He whispered. "Do you have any bloody idea how much pain I am in? Do you know how hard it is to love someone so much, but that someone won't love you back? Do you have any idea?"
Silence hung in the air for a while before Pansy spoke.
"No, Draco, I don't know how it feels," she lied. "But what I do know is that this is unhealthy. Come on, please, let's go."
"I'm not going. Just...leave me alone."
Pansy's heart broke for Draco. Her love for him was so strong and she only wanted him to be happy. What he wants, he gets. She sighed and nodded. With one last look at her cherished friend, she left.

Pansy entered the Slytherin common room. Shades of green and silver greeted her as well as the gloominess of the room. The fire was blazing broadly as Greg and Millicent battled in chess. Blaise and Vincent stood by watching intensely. She walked towards them and dropped in a couch nearby. Blaise snapped out of the game and headed for Pansy.
"Hey, what's..."
He was interrupted as Pansy threw herself at him, and sobbed into his chest. Blaise wrapped his arms around the small frame as if by instinct and held her close. He rocked her back and forth as the tears continued to flow. He stroked her blonde hair and whispered words of comfort.
"Is it Draco?" He asked gently. He knew it was him. It always was. It always will be.
Pansy nodded in his arms and looked up. Her blue eyes shined with fresh tears as she tried to speak. Blaise need not any words and immediately shushed her. Her eyes said everything, and it killed him every time Draco would do this to her. He loved her so much, but he knew that she loved Draco and only Draco. She would never love him.
Vincent tore his gaze away from the match and focused it on his two friends. His eyes hardened slightly, but softened at once when he saw that one of them was crying. It was Draco again. He would always know when it was Draco and when it was not. So far, it had always been Draco.
Sighing to himself, he walked over to his friends and laid a comforting hand on Blaise's shoulder. His heart broke for the two of them. Especially his male friend. He knew Blaise loved Pansy with every fiber in his being, every part of his soul, but he also knew that Blaise would never be able to express it. Blaise's pain was his own pain. Often at night, he would hold his friend as he cried his heart out.
"Pansy, don't cry. He'll come around eventually," Vincent said.
Pansy looked up and sniffed.
"I know, but I just wish that he would stop being so depressed. I hope he knows that it kills all of us."
"Yeah, it does," Blaise whispered to himself.
Vincent looked at the two of them. Blaise was his best friend as well as Pansy, and hurt him that he couldn't stop both of their pain. But he did what he can, and that was to try to cheer them up. Even if it would do little good.
"Let's stop this and have some fun. We can play Exploding Snap or something," he offered.
Pansy shook her head.
"No, I've got homework. I'll see you guys later."
She got up and slowly made her way up her room. Blaise looked at Vincent.
"Same with me. I've got loads to do," he said. With that, he grabbed his reading book and headed up the stairs to the boy's dormitory.
Vincent sighed to himself. He knew that both of them weren't going to do their homework. They had finished hours ago, he was sure because he was there with them. Growling slightly, he laid himself down on a couch and closed his eyes. Within a few minutes, he was asleep. The last thing he heard was a "Check mate!" from Millicent and a groan of defeat from Greg.
