- Thank you Caroline...(I seem to be repeating that a lot. Oh well, I mean it.) Please review. You have no clue how that makes my day when you review. I don't care what you say, as long as it's about my fic. Enjoy! (The plot thickens)
Emily spent the rest of the school year just playing around with Draco. She got better at kissing him and tried to keep him guessing whether she wanted him or not.
When the school year ended, Emily knew she had gotten somewhere, as she got a promise from Draco to write every week-and he kept it.
After vacations were over, Emily was pleased with the way she had changed over the summer. She had grown slightly taller, filled in in all the right places. She had gotten a tan, and learned how to use makeup.
She thought of what she was going to say to Draco when she got him alone. She was ready to crack his ‘shell’ wide open, for her personal viewing pleasure. She wrote out what she would say, rewrote it, and rehearsed it before her mirror. But it all went out of her head the minute she saw Draco.
"Damn." That was the first word that crossed her mind when she saw him.
Draco had changed. Instead of plaster-like hair, he had gone for the natural look, his silver-blonde hair falling around his face and into his eyes. He was slightly tanned, and his eyes seemed to glow in his darkened face. He was hot. The loose black shirt and tight black pants didn’t help. And obviously he had been working out, as Emily discovered later, in an empty compartment. His arms were muscular, she could feel them as they wrapped around her, kissing her intensely. She could almost see herself falling for him, but revenge was first, and she didn’t really want to fall in love with Draco. It wouldn't be wise.
She smiled at the sight of Harry and Hermione, holding hands, as they ran to greet her. They hadn't changed much but for some strange reason, Harry had an odd
effect on Emily. She would just blush every time she was around him.
Harry and Hermione had news. They were officially a couple, and Emily was fully happy for them. She didn’t have too much time to devote to angst and heartbreak,
because Draco was back, and better than ever. He had changed, in some subtle way over the summer. Emily couldn’t quite put her finger on it, but it was there. He seemed to actually care about her, but he was still the same person; remote, absent, cruel at times.
“Draco, we need to talk, " Emily said one night while they were sitting in the West Tower. It had a better view than the Astronomy Tower, and was less used.
“About what?” Draco suddenly went cold again.
“You.”
“Damn it Emily, what do you want?”
“I don’t get you, that’s all. I know that there’s more beneath your surface, but how do you expect to get anywhere at all with me, even if it’s just getting me naked, if you don’t really open up? This is going nowhere, fast.”
“Shit.” Draco leaned his head back, and massaged his temples in anger. “What the hell is wrong with you, Emily? Isn’t this enough?”
“No.”
“Well, maybe I don’t exactly get the feeling that you’re being your ‘true self’' with me. You’re hot, you’re willing, but you don’t let me know where you are. I’m not some nice boy like Potter-I’m a badass. But you, I don’t get you either . I know nothing about
you,but I’m attracted to you.”
“To my body, you mean.” Emily sighed. This was no more than simple desire, but Draco's answer took her by surprise.
“No, it’s more than that. It isn’t all lust. You’ve got it, whatever 'It' is, and that's the only reason I haven’t screwed you yet.”
“Should I be flattered?” Emily asked in an evidently sarcastic tone.
“Shut the hell up, Emily. That’s what I mean. You’ve got your damn bitingly witty replies to every single damn time I tell you. You know who I am and you still stick with me. You know that we’ve got chemistry. That's the only reason you haven’t left. I mean for God’s sake, you lure me on, then you drop me, time after time, after time.”
“God, Malfoy. I didn’t know you had feelings.” Emily smiled up at him sarcastically. “What do I have to pay for this confession?"
“Listen up, Parker, and listen close.” Draco pulled her to him, holding her by her shoulders, their faces merely inches away. “My family doesn’t love each other. My mother hates my father. My father is indifferent to my mother, all he thinks he has is me. He’s taught me his ways, he’s invested his time in me, but only because he thinks that I will follow in his footsteps.”
"But I’ve learned my father’s ways, and learned them well. I hate Potter and Granger and Weasley, and I’d hate you too, but you’re different. I’m going to be a Dark Wizard whether I like it or not, and at the moment, it seems pretty damn inviting. And I’m good,
I’m fine, I’m cruising along, best blood in Hogwarts, Slytherin, rich, hot. Yes, I know I’m hot, so shut up. And then, you come into that train, and you fucking snub me. You’re hot, I can see the sparks fly between us. You didn’t fall on accident, although you think you did. You’re a Gryffindor, and you’re friends with Potter. You’re more than friends with Potter, and damn, I wanted you. And now I have you,and you say you don’t get me. Well, I don’t get you. Will I ever get you? I don’t know. But you can be damn sure that I’m going to try. You’re the only person who’s done this to me. Every single other girl I’ve screwed around with did nothing to me. I didn’t screw a single girl over the summer, because I was so damn caught up in you. That’s never happened to me before. I didn’t mess around with one girl. And here I am, hoping you’ve missed me, and you’re icy, you’re cold. Well guess what Parker? I’m not going to stand for it any more. You’re either in or out. It's your choice.”
Emily looked up at this boy she’d never known before. Yes, he was a badass. But an attractive badass. One she actually wanted to get to know. "Stop it, Parker. He’s pure evil!"
But she couldn’t stop thinking about him, and how she was dreading the day she had to dump him.
“I’m in,” she said slowly. “But on one condition. Don’t you ever try to force yourself on me, or I swear to God that I will never have anything to do with you
again.” She meant it. She didn’t want to have sex unless she had consciously made the decision to have it.
Draco just smirked at her. “Oh, you’re a damn virgin, I see.”
“Maybe, maybe not. But I don’t have anything to do with anyone who won’t even open up to me. So stick with the snogging, Malfoy.”
He laughed, and kissed her roughly, before pulling her down to the floor. Things went much better after that. He seemed to care more about Emily. At least they
talked.
