It was really late and Hermione knew it. She lay her bed thinking. She had been doing it a lot lately.
"I should tell them," she thought to herself," they're going to find out soon enough."
Hermione was thinking about her two best friends, Ron Weasley and Harry Potter. Harry was really a remarkable person; he had escaped an attack from the most feared wizard of the age with nothing but an annoying scar. Ron was the exact opposite. The only thing remotely remarkable about Ron was that he always seemed to say the wrong thing at an even worse time.
"We've known each other for three years now, I should be able to tell them," she thought, trying to conquer her fear of tell two of the most important people in her life something that might tear there friendship apart. Ever since the end of there third year at Hogwarts, Hermione had been in a really tough spot. Yes, she knew more than any other person in her year, but she didn't know how to deal with this. She liked her two best friends.
"I'll tell them in the morning, I've got to tell them sooner or later,"

The next morning, Hermione woke up before the sun even rose. Although she hadn't gotten to sleep until very late, she didn't want to sleep in this morning. It was a Saturday, which meant no classes for the day. And Harry didn't have any Quidditch practice, so it would be the perfect time to tell them. She was determined to do it today.
She got dressed and went down to the common room to look for Ron and Harry, but she didn't think that either of them would be there. To her great surprise, both of them were there, sitting by the fireplace in there favorite seats. It seemed almost like they were waiting for her. She went over to the fireplace, and sat down in her favorite seat.
"We were waiting when you'd be down here," Harry said immediately, as Hermione made herself comfortable in the seat.
"What do you mean?" Hermione asked honestly. She had no idea what was going on, only that she needed to find out, and soon.
"We know you've been wanting to talk to us, Hermione, it was really obvious, we just couldn't figure out what you wanted to talk to us about," Ron seemed almost as confused as Hermione was, but at least he knew why they were down there in the first place.
"Well," Hermione began, trying to find the words, with very little success," I do have something I've been needing to tell the both of you."
"Well, was is it," Ron replied, starting to get a little annoyed that she hadn't already said what she was there to say.
"Well, I like you...both of you."
"What!" Ron and Harry said simultaneously. Both were shocked, but neither of them knew what to do. Ron stood up immediately, and started pacing around the room, with a look of bewilderment on his face.
"When did this happen?" asked Ron, suddenly stopping right in front of Hermione.
"Well, it started right after that night in the Shrieking Shack, I guess. I already knew I liked you, I mean we'd spent a lot of time together this year with the Hogsmeade trips and all. And then that night at the shrieking shack, I realized I felt the same way about Harry, but it was different."
"Different?!" Ron was starting to get furious, he had liked Hermione since there second year, "what do you mean DIFFERENT! Different good, or different bad?" He didn't know what to do other than keep talking. He was thrilled that Hermione liked him too, but didn't know what to think now that she liked him AND Harry.
"Well not good different, but not bad different either," Hermione was starting to guess the way that Ron felt," just different I guess. Harry, say something. Please."
"I don't know what to say." Harry wasn't angry, or happy. Just confused. He didn't know what to say, what to do. All he thought he could do was sit there and listen to Hermione and Ron fight, if that's what you could call it. For years Harry had been sure that Hermione and Ron would get together and live happily ever after. But now everything was different. Now his best friends were fighting, all because one of them liked him. He didn't know what they were fighting about, he didn't know what to do, he just sat there.
"Please say something Harry. What do you think?" Ron was at last not yelling anymore. He had sat down, and had set his head in his hands and looked like he was thinking, but Harry knew he wasn't thinking about what was going on here, he was thinking about Hermione, and why he was sitting there, knowing that the girl he had liked for so long liked him too, but he wasn't doing anything about it other than yelling and arguing with her.
"I already told you, I don't know what to say."
"What's going on?" Ginny Weasley had walked into the room without anyone noticing.
"How long have you been there? What did you hear?" Hermione was shocked. Ginny Weasley was Ron's only sister, and was a year younger than Harry, Hermione and Ron. She had always known that Ron and Hermione liked each other, but she had no idea about any of this.
"I just got here. I didn't hear anything really, what's going on? I thought I heard Ron's voice yelling something about different? What's going on?"
"I'll tell you, come with me." Harry had taken his chance. He decided that he needed to leave the room and give Hermione a chance to talk to Ron alone, explain things the way they were, plus, he really didn't want to be in the room right now. He lead Ginny up the stairs to the boys common room, but stopped a few steps above his door and sat down.
"What?" asked Ginny.
"Well, it's complicated..."
"Hermione finally told Ron that she likes him?"
"Well yes...and no..."
"What does that mean?" Ginny was now as confused as Harry had been a few moments earlier.
"Well, she did tell Ron that she liked him, but she also told me the same thing." It made it easier to talk about it, and to explain to Ginny, because it was also like he was explaining things to himself.
"What does that mean? That she told you that she likes Ron too?"
"Well no. That she likes...me" His voice trailed off into nothing and Ginny looked up at him amazed. She knew that Hermione liked Ron, but had no idea that she liked Harry too. Harry had saved Ginny's life in her first year, and had liked Harry from the time she started school until just a year ago, so she felt it easy to talk to him.
"What do you mean? Do you mean that she likes both of you? I mean I always knew that she liked Ron. I mean it's really obvious, isn't it?" She laughed as she said this. It really had been obvious that they liked each other. The only people who didn't know that they liked each other were Hermione and Ron.
"Yeah, it is obvious. But yeah, she does like both of us. I wish that she didn't like me. It's not that I don't feel complimented that someone likes me, but I really thought that Ron and Hermione would live happily ever after."
"Yeah, I know. You know I used to like you."
"Yeah I know. What does that have to do with anything?" Harry was getting confused again.
"Well, I don't know, I just thought that might help."
"Well it does, I guess."
"Come on. Let's go down to the common room, they've probably finished talking."
They walked down to the common room and saw that a lot of other people were there, so they went down and sat near Ron and Hermione.
~*Meanwhile*~
"I'm sorry." Hermione didn't know what else to say. She knew she had to say something. She had to explain herself.
"What've you got to be sorry about?" Ron was getting mad again, he wanted to yell, but at the same time, he wanted to tell Hermione that he felt for her too.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you how I feel sooner. Before I started to tell Harry. I really don't want to feel this way. I really don't want to have feelings for Harry. I like you. You're the one I want to be with." She had said it. She had said what she had wanted to say for almost a year now.
"Really? You want to be with me, not Harry?" Ron started to feel better, "But Harry's famous! Why wouldn't you like to be with someone famous?"
"I don't know. I just don't want to be with him. I like you more."
Ron stood up, walked over to the chair that Hermione was sitting in. She looked up. He knelt down and looked her straight in the eye. They just stared at each other for a minute. They leaned forward, their lips met, and they kissed. They finally kissed.
