She used to be the happiest girl I knew
I remember seeing her laugh
I remember the time she cried
When tears filled her eyes
As we sang 'Love Song' by Tesla

Harry sat in the common room late at night remembering. He remembered when he was not alone in the common room late at night, when she was with him. They had late night meetings in the common room, after everyone else had gone to sleep. That was their time. They would talk and joke or just sit and watch the fire die. The best part of these meetings was the singing. Harry couldn't remember when they started singing together but they had been doing it for quite a while. She had a beautiful voice, and when she sang shivers ran up Harry's spine. Their favorite song to sing together was "Love Song" by Tesla and they used to sing it whenever one of them went through a hard time. Harry remembered the way tears glistened in her eyes when they sang their special line. "So you think that it's over, say your love has finally reached the end, Any time you call, night or day, I'll be right there for you, If you need a friend"

Her smile is turning upside down
She's got a boyfriend now

They used to talk about everything, especially their dreams and fears. One of her dreams always was to have a boyfriend. Growing up she had read hundreds of romance novels. She always joked that she was even living her love life through books. She wanted to experience love like in the novels she read, the total cliché of a relationship. Finally, her dream came true; she found "true love" in Viktor Krum. Harry still couldn't believe it. Since she and Krum officially got together at the end of sixth year, their midnight meetings ceased. Harry didn't really know how the ended, but they just did. He figured she talked to Krum now instead of him. Obviously he wasn't helping her; often Harry would find her crying in a corner. When he approached her she would shrug him off. It stung every time, she had never done that before.

She's got a boyfriend now
And it's hard to see
What she's got herself into
She's getting used to
The loneliness that's bottled up

Harry felt she was isolating herself from her friends. She was always writing letters to Krum and would wait faithfully for days, even weeks, until he got the time to write back. She never let anyone, especially Harry get close to her. Lately, she had become distant and forlorn. It killed Harry to see her like this. Harry tried so hard to rebuild their old friendship. But his attempts were futile. She was always polite to him, but their old chemistry was missing. She no longer laughed at his corny jokes, nor did she smile when he did something stupid. He didn't know who this girl was, but he wanted his friend back.

Inside she knows
She'll stick right through the sad times
And all the bad times
Cuz it's up to her to make some sense somehow
She's got a boyfriend now

She didn't understand that a boyfriend wasn't supposed to disappear for a month and then return like nothing happened. Whenever she and Krum fought she was always the first to apologize, even when she was right. This wasn't at all the girl Harry used to know. But she feels safe in a relationship with him. She'll deal with pain and suffering by crying into his shoulder. But whose shoulder was Harry supposed to cry on? When Voldermort came for him, which he definitely was, would she still stand tall by his side? Harry didn't know anymore.

She always knew she'd find the right guy
To hold her through the night
Someone she'd take to meet her mom
And take her to see Britany Spears

Sure Krum was handsome, charming, rich, good on broom and famous. Harry was sure her mom loved him. But her mom loved Harry too! Also, her mom didn't know about how Krum really treated her, like some kind of trophy wife. She deserved better, she deserved some who cared for her, loved her. Not someone who lavished her with gifts she didn't even like. Harry remembered when Krum sent her a real, major league snitch. She had no use for it, in fact she gave it to Harry. She would have preferred a book or a necklace or just a meaningful card. Krum could take her to the most expensive restaurant in London, but she would have to endure hours of Krum talking about himself, almost as a payment.

Who knows if Clark Kent is a Superman?
Or if he's just an asshole
Leading on and on
And on and on
And on

Krum was no superhero, he was a phony. Harry doubted she liked him just for his fame; she wasn't that sort of girl. But Harry just could not see what she saw in him. She was always the most observant person Harry knew, so now how could she be so blind? But then again, they say that love is blind... But what do they know?

Why does it always seem to be
Guys like that always get to be the one
She thinks the world of?

Harry had always been there for her, Krum hadn't. Didn't that mean anything? Couldn't she see past his superstar status into his soul? His soul lacking all the thongs she needed? She was an intelligent, caring, beautiful woman who could have any guy she wanted. But why did she want him? If only Harry could understand...

And why does it always seem to me
That girls like that can't ever find someone
Someone like me

Harry couldn't believe that after seven years, she still had not discovered his secret. He had been madly in love with her since the end of fifth year. Harry knew she was too good for him, he knew it since the first day he saw her, but that didn't stop him from dreaming and hoping.

And its hard to know the difference between inside and out
When she asks if I can mend her broken heart
I wouldn't know where to start.

Harry hoped that she would eventually face reality before Krum broke her heart. Because if he did, Harry didn't know what he would do if she came running to him. She needed to realize what Krum was doing to her. She needed to wake up from her dream world.

She got what she always wanted
She got what she always wanted
And now she's only crying on the inside

But for now, she has what she wants. When she is finally ready to talk about everything, Harry would give her a shoulder to cry on. But until then, he could only wait.

"Harry," a quiet voice whispered.

Harry looked up and smiled.

"Hermione..."
