A Look Not Yet Forgotten

Chapter 1

Beginnings

James Potter stared at the witch he saw boarding the train. She had beautiful red hair, bright green eyes, and looked very outgoing. Before he had even got into Hogwarts, James had fallen in love with the one person he thought would be with him forever. She must have felt someone staring at her, for in one small instant, Lily Evans looked at James in a way she wouldn't in a long time. She looked at him as if he was the most wonderful person she hadn't met.

Lily Evans talked anxiously with her parents. She couldn't wait to go to Hogwarts, finally. She had already read some of her books and couldn't wait to get started. Lily felt someone staring at her and turned around. He had jet-black hair and dark auburn eyes. He smiled slightly when he noticed she knew he was staring at her. She looked at him in a way she had never looked at anyone before. Lily looked at James with love and compassion, and she hadn't even discovered his name.

Quicker than either would have liked the train was getting ready to leave. Both shared one more glance. One that clearly said, I hope to see you again soon. Then they got on the train and went their separate ways.

Lily walked down the corridor looking for an empty compartment. As she was walking she wasn't paying attention to her footing and tripped right outside an open compartment. The two girls inside rushed out to her.

"Are you okay?" one of them asked. Lily looked up to see who was talking to her. She had dark brown hair that was straight and covered her back.

"Yeah. Wasn't looking where I was going."

"It's okay," the other replied, "happens to the best of us." She slightly chuckled at her own joke. " Well, I better be going now. My name is Molly Weasley. I'm a 7^th year. If you ever need anything I would be happy to help." She smiled and walked off.

"The name's Alice Dew. Yours?"

"Lily Evans. Nice to meet you." The two girls smiled at each other and entered the compartment. Lily could tell this was going to be a very good friendship.

James Potter looked around for an empty compartment. It seemed all of them were taken. Finally James reached the end of the row. To his left was a compartment with three people sitting in it. James opened the door and all three heads turned toward him.

"Can I sit here?" he asked cautiously.

The boy with black hair that actually laid into place, unlike James's, was the one to reply. "Of course," he said. "The name's Sirius Black. But don't judge me cause my name," he added at the look on James's face, "I'm not like the rest of my family."

James sat down next to a boy with dusty brown hair and blue eyes. The boy looked at him and smiled. "Remus Lupin. And this across from me is Peter Pettigrew. I don't think we've learned your name yet?"

"James Potter." James could tell this was going to be a very odd friendship, but a very good one at the least.
