"Wake up, please, Harry wake up," Hermione cried and pleaded to Harry as he lie on the bitter cold ground. He opened his eyes barely to his struggling wife.
"Please tell me your okay," she cried. She was now in a fit of hysteria. There was nothing Harry could say to make her stop. But then again he couldn't say anything at all.
It was only hours before that the wizarding world had found out that the Dark Lord had been killed. Many had celebrated his downfall only to find out that none other than Draco Malfoy had killed him. Draco had been gaining powers rapidly for more than 5 years and had quickly become the most powerful wizard in the world. He started his terror strike by letting Harry Potter and his wife and baby's mother Hermione Potter watch as he killed the wizard who had left Harry parentless.
"Don't do this Draco," was all the once powerful wizard could bring himself to say, confidence draining from the red slit eyes that many had been so afraid of and fear replacing it.
"Are you begging?" was Draco's reply and the last thing the former Dark Lord would hear before he died a more horrible death than Harry's parents.
Draco then talked to Harry and Hermione as if they had just played a sporting game of quidditch. He had tied only Harry up knowing Hermione would not leave and saw no need to waste his breath or time.
"Would you like to watch your husband die Hermione?" The look in Draco's face showed only power and bliss because he knew he would be even more famous than Harry for being the only one able to kill him.
"Don't do this Draco. Don't." Hermione did not care if she begged or not she wanted her baby to grow up and have both of her parents.
"And why is that Miss Granger? Have I not waited 10 patient years to watch the infamous Potter and his faithful sidekick pleading at my heels for their lives? Although I must admit that Ron was quite easy and no fun at all. I have been more than kind enough to let you bore your baby, Granger. But never fear, it will be not be in vein for she will be raised by my faithful Death Eaters and taught the dark ways. As the heir of both Griffindor and Ravenclaw she will be the most powerful of either witch or wizard, and will be on my side."
"She won't! They won't let you take Lily, Draco, she is in protection! You can't hurt her!" Harry screamed across the blacken field as if he were miles away not mere feet.
"Ah, Harry, you have now volunteered yourself to die now. Very well," Draco said as he raised his wand but did not perform The Killing Curse. Instead, he had his own trademark, one that made death painful and drawn out, The Dolore Curse. Worse than even Avada Kedavra, The Dolore Curse was drawn out and very, very, painful. It was a sure killer that sucked the strength out of you while you were still alive. They only perk that the curse had was it allowed the loved ones of the doomed to spend precious last minutes until death. It could be controlled slightly for the weaker wizards and witches and then for the stronger ones. Harry, being quite a strong and powerful wizard himself, had felt the full impact of The Dolore Curse.
That takes us to the last minutes of the famous Potter's last moments. Draco, seeing no need to stick around knowing his own powers, had left seconds earlier. Hermione, having strength, crawled over to Harry and fell half beside, half on top of him.
She was weeping tears bigger than any Harry had ever seen. She was truly heartbroken. She bent toward Harry and kissed him one last time. He opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out. He stared into her beautiful brown eyes and finally spoke.
"I love you, Hermione."
Those words sunk into Hermione's head and she watched, as the famous Harry Potter lay lifeless before her very eyes. A tear, the last tear she would ever cry for him, flowed down her golden face. She leaned forward and spoke softly to the lifeless corpse before her.
"I did love you, Harry, I really did." Then she stood up and walked, head high in the air with not so much as a backward glance at her dead husband. Suddenly she stopped and was staring Draco Malfoy dead in the eye. His malicious smile one she was quite acquainted with.
"Come," she said, "let us go find Lily."
