He didn't know what to make of her at first. What the hell was she doing? He kept seeing her as he walked down the corridor on his way to lessons, staring furtively at him from doorways or peeping in between the gaps in the banisters of the stairs. At first he was puzzled- she seemed different from the many girls who blushed as he passed them by, trying to avoid catching his eye and then turning to stare at him when they thought he wasn't looking.

She was more open...more predatory. More, well, desperate.

But something in the way that she acted- the way that she turned her greeny- hazel eyes towards him as he walked past with his bunch of mindless friends and how she stared at him intently from across the great hall, studying him; dinking in and committing to memory every contour and angle of his face, and manner, intrigued him.

No one noticed it- not Potter and the rest of his do-gooder friends and certainly not his own group. They were too busy with their own petty little problems. But Draco Malfoy had been brought up better than the rest of them. He had been taught that knowledge was power, and the only way to gain that knowledge was to look, listen and learn from what was around him.

And Ginny Weasley seemed to be around him a lot nowadays.
