Ch.1
"Harry!!!" Hermione Granger ran to meet her best friend as he popped through the wall at platform nine and three-quarters. She wrapped her arms around him and squeezed him into a huge hug.
"Oy, Mione you're squishing me to death," Harry said, laughing.
"Sorry 'bout that Harry," Hermione answered sheepishly. " RON!!" she yelled again as her other best friend popped through the wall after his twin brothers, Fred and George. She ran over to him and gave him an enormous hug, also. After finally letting go, Ron sidled over to Harry and whispered to him out of the corner of his mouth, "you'd think she was tryin' to kill me."
"I know how you feel," Harry whispered back. They laughed. The Hogwarts Express came flying into the station and the 3 friends quickly boarded a vacant car. The ride was rather un-eventful, until a gale started outside. The train shook on its railings, and jolted about. Suddenly the train stopped with a sudden snap, and all the lights went out. People screamed from a few cars down. When the lights came on a few seconds later, Hermione, Harry, Ron, Neville, Seamus, and Ginny found them selves in a very odd and slightly embarrassing picture on the floor. Seamus and Neville were thrown across the room and were sitting against the wall. Ginny and Harry were lying perpendicular to each other, with one of Ginny's legs across Harry's chest. Ginny blushed and sat up. But the funniest of all had to be Ron and Hermione. Hermione was lying completely on top of Ron, with her face very close to his.
"OOOHHHH Look at Ron!" Seamus chortled. Neville started to laugh as Ron's ears turned red.
"Hey!" Ron said. "Its not my fault we landed like this." Hermione promptly untangled herself and sat next to Ginny. She was blushing, and Ginny whispered something in her ear. This made Hermione turn redder and she couldn't help but notice that Ron was staring right at her. This only made her blush harder, and when she returned her gaze, his ears turned red and he looked away. She couldn't help thinking to herself that maybe Ginny was right.
The great hall was gaily decorated for the opening night feast. Student chatted loudly at the long tables, and the house banners waved in an invisible breeze. Seamus chortled loudly at something that Dean had just said and Hermione and Ginny gazed up at the ceiling, which glittered brightly with stars. Dumbledore guffawed loudly, and as if by magic the whole hall was silent.
"Welcome back to Hogwarts everyone. Would all first year students please line up to be sorted, thank you. We will now begin the ceremony." Hermione didn't really pay much attention to the sorting ceremony. A few kids joined Gryffindor, Sarah Bigwartles, Thomas McKinley, Lizzy Dormaton, and Caroline Creeves. The hall quieted again as Dumbledore raised his hat. "Let the feast begin!" he shouted and food appeared with a magical little pop onto the long, wooden tables. The trio happily dug into creamy whipped potatoes, chicken, beef, fresh vegetables, roast duck, seasoned rice, fresh breads, and much other delicious food as they discussed Harry's upcoming Quidditch match against Slytherin.
Late that night, Ron and Harry were sitting in the Gryffindor common room talking about Quidditch, as usual. Suddenly Ron stopped talking and looked at Harry.
"Harry..." he said. Harry raised his head from watching the crackling flames.
"Do you think...that...Hermione might, maybe, possibly fancy me a little?" Harry grinned.
"Sheesh Ron, don't you think that's a little bit obvious?"
"Really Harry? You think so? Because I was going to ask her on a date this weekend at Hogsmeade."
"I think that's a great idea Ron," Harry yawned. "I'm bushed. I'll see you in the dormitories later?"
"Sure thing, Harry," answered Ron, who was watching the door to the common room as Hermione stepped in holding her schoolbooks. Harry winked and left for bed. Hermione walked over and sat on the sofa next to Ron.
"Starting to study already?" he asked her. He was blushing a little.
"Well of course, I mean, I can't just not be prepared for it at all..." Ron was staring at her.
"I'm pretty sure you're not going to be prepared for this," he whispered and pressed his lips to hers. " Will you go out with me Hermione? I love you."
"I love you too, Ron," she said and kissed him passionately.
Ch. 2
The next morning it was all around school that Ron and Hermione were now a couple. Harry was very happy for them, and they seemed to be much more than happy for each other. Not only were they spreading the news, but openly showing random signs of affection in public. Harry laughed as Ron bent over to kiss Hermione's forehead. He hadn't seen Ron this interested in a girl since Ron had found one of Fred and Gorge's Magazines. Harry raised an eyebrow and turned to look at Seamus, who as usual, was chortling about something.
Ron and Hermione had been going out for a few months now, and everyone was feeling hunky dory. It was nearly Christmas time, and Ron was busy planning what he should get Hermione for Christmas as he and Harry trudged down the snowy lane of Hogsmeade. " I dunno Ron," said Harry lazing letting his eyes drift into the shop windows. "I think girls like jewelry, I dunno. I think they also like being snogged..." he winked at Ron and raised his eyebrows up and down. Ron gaped and his cheeks reddened to match the color of his cold nose.
"You mean...as a Christmas present?"
"Well what did you think I meant?" Harry nudged Ron in Hermione's direction. "Look there she is now. Why don't you just ask her what she wants? Ron shrugged and walked over to Hermione, giving her a quick peck on the cheek. Harry absentmindedly wandered in to a shop nearby to look around and possibly buy some presents. Snow had softly begun to fall, cloaking the streets of Hogsmeade in a soft, white blanket.
Ch. 3
The rumor appeared as if it were coming true. Earlier that day, the words "new students" had buzzed incessantly over the lips of many a student, disrupted classes and annoying teachers alike. Now Dumbledore was banging on the table, waiting for silence. Hermione gazed up at the enchanted ceiling, marveling at the beauty of snow on the dark, night sky. She then fixed her attention on Dumbledore, like the others.
"We have two new students, arriving at Hogwarts today. They are from America; please do not embarrass them if some of their ways are different. They are with us this year, and may or may not come back next year, depending on how they like the school. We would be delighted to have them here permanently, so please do not be mean to them in any way, and be on your best behavior. Carmen Custos and Joseph Strickton!" he announced, and the great doors banged open to reveal Hagrid and two fourth year students. Carmen was of Hispanic descent, with shining dark hair that waved slightly, dark romantic eyes, and tan skin. She was of average height, and slender, very beautiful, but very different from the other students. Joseph was very American looking, and he was tall. He had brown hair and striking clear blue eyes. He too, was very good looking and caught many a girl's eye. Dumbledore spoke once more as the students walked toward the Gryffindor table." They have already been sorted into Gryfindor, and will be joining the fourth years. The Gryffindor table clapped politely as Carmen and Joseph sat down next to Hermione.
"Dumbledore said that you could show us around and help us get settled," said Carmen, her American accent soft with a hint of Hispanic traces. Joseph smiled at Hermione, a little too kindly, and Ron gripped Hermione's hand harder under the table. She looked up at him with a look that told him very frankly to knock it off immediately. He sighed and went back to his chicken.
'Yes, of course!" said Hermione. "You two must be hungry. Dig in! I'm Hermione Granger, This is my boyfriend Ron Weasley," she nudged Ron who smiled at Carmen. "That's Harry Potter. Facing you, that's Seamus, and Neville. Over there is Ginny, Ron's sister, and Fred and George his twin brothers."
"Nice to meet you, Hermione," said Joseph hungrily forking chicken onto his plate. " And you Harry and Ron too," he said smiling.
"Me also", said Carmen, looking directly into Harry's eyes and smiling, almost mischievously. Hemione rolled her eyes and forked a bite of pasta into her mouth as Harry grinned back. Carmen tossed her hair and Harry just kept staring at her. "Boys.." thought Hermione with disgust.
