Potions Assortment

Chapter 1: Bloody Potion

Just like any other night at Hogwarts, the Great Hall was buzzing with excitement. The buzz that everyone was talking about was potions class.

"So Lav and Seamus are like a couple now?" Ginny asked the other Gryffindors in excitement.

"Yeah! And I couldn't believe that Goyle kissed Millicent! I thought he would have some taste but apparently not. Could've been worse though. He could have kissed Pansy," Parvati joked.

All the Gryffindors looked across the Hall at the Slytherin table. Millicent was seated at one end of the table snarling at anyone who got too close and Goyle was seated at the other end sporting many visible bruises and a black eye. Apparently something had happened between potions class and dinner. All of the Gryffindors burst out into giggles before turning back to their conversation.

"And who else kissed?" Ginny wanted to know.

"Well," Parvati said excitedly, "Pansy drank a Perfect Kiss potion and tried to kiss Malfoy but his two goons stopped her. Then Malfoy drank the Perfect Kiss potion and you'll never guess who he kissed."

"Who?" Many surrounding girls asked. Malfoy had grown to be quite handsome and considered one of the hottest guys at Hogwarts.

"Hermione Granger!" Parvati squealed.

"No way!" Basically everyone at the table yelled.

Ron was busy stabbing at his roast potatoes and turning them into pulp. Harry was still trying to piece together what had happened in potions.

*Flashback*

"You're mine." Malfoy whispered and dipped the stunned girl, giving her his perfect kiss.

Everyone was too shocked to speak.

Harry's jaw dropped to the ground, Ron's face was turning dark purple as his blood boiled. Pansy was still on the ground where Malfoy had pushed her.

The first sound in the room was Pansy's high-pitched, hysterical scream.

"NOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! My little golden dragon!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!" she screamed.

The two up on the platform broke away, shocked to find themselves in each other's arms.

"You drop me, Malfoy, and I assure you that you'll be the last in the Malfoy line," Hermione whispered coldly.

Malfoy simply gave her his trademark smirk and helped her stand upright.

"You know you liked it," he whispered seductively in return and went back to his place at the back of the dungeon. Harry had to hold Ron back before Ron could attack the blonde Slytherin.

*End Flashback*

Ron was still quietly seething, taking his anger out on the potatoes.

Harry was still quietly sorting out his thoughts but was quickly pulled out of them when Ginny shook his shoulder.

"What are you thinking about?" Ginny whispered.

"Huh?" Harry asked, still in a half-daze.

"I said," Ginny said slowly, making sure that Harry got every word, "what are you thinking about?"

"Oh, not much," he replied nonchalantly, poking at his peas.

"Didn't my mother ever tell you not to play with your food?" Ginny demanded, giving him a mock glare.

"No, but I'm pretty sure she told you that if the wind changes, your face will stay like that forever," Harry teased.

Ginny giggled and playfully punched him in the arm.

"Seriously though, what are you thinking about?" Ginny asked for the third time.

"Why would Malfoy kiss Hermione? I mean, he's always calling her a mudblood and being mean to her so why would he think that she's perfect?"

Ginny glanced across the room at Malfoy who was brooding over his dinner plate.

"I think that Malfoy has a crush on Hermione," Ginny suggested. "Where is she anyway?"

"Up in her room." Harry replied.

"Why? Is she afraid of everyone?"

"No, you know Hermione. She's trying to figure out why Malfoy kissed her too."

"Yeah, that's our girl," Ginny smiled. "So Ron, what's with you?"

"Malfoy had his filthy paws all over Hermione," he said quietly, accenting each syllable by stabbing his fork into the potatoes. The poor potatoes were now mashed beyond recognition.

"What? Do you have like a crush on her or something?" Ginny teased.

"No!" Ron said rather defensively. "Hermione's like a sister to me, so no! Ew! Shame on you for even thinking that, Ginny Weasley!"

"So why are you so angry?" Harry asked.

"Who said I was angry?" Ron asked innocently.

"Says your potatoes," Harry pointed out.

Ron looked down at his plate and blushed. "OK, so maybe I was a little angry," he confessed.

Meanwhile, over at the Slytherin table...

"Draco?" Pansy whispered, trying to get Malfoy's attention. "Draco?"

"What is it?" Draco growled, not looking at her.

"Why did you kiss that mudblood Granger?" she asked.

Draco glared daggers at Pansy and pushed her face into her full plate. Everyone around them stared at Draco in shock. Draco glared back at them all and stalked out of the Great Hall.

"Bloody potion," Draco mumbled under his breath as he made his way back to the Slytherin common room, "making me kiss that mudblood. Didn't even think that Granger was the most perfect in the room. Bloody making me kiss her. I'm the most perfect. Wouldn't have made such a bloody fool of myself if I tried to kiss myself instead."

Draco kept mumbling like this until he arrived at the entrance of the common room.

"Perfect," he growled and the wall slid open for him, revealing the Slytherin common room. Apparently, the wall had heard about the news too and it had a sick sense of humour.

The common room was empty; everyone was still having dinner in the Great Hall. Draco made his way up to the girls' dorms and went through Pansy's belongings. Smiling when he found a thin red book entitled Kissing Potions, Draco went back up to his dorm for a night of light reading.

Chapter Four - Perfect Kiss Potion

Ingredients:

½ oz. ground unicorn horn

4 fl oz. Aphrodite's Blood

1 ½ phoenix feather

2 pint rosé wine

2 ½ pinch powdered grey rhinoceros horn

¼ oz. sliced ginseng root

50g Hershey's Kisses

75.6cm red Siren's hair

Combine unicorn horn, Aphrodite's Blood, phoenix feather, rosé wine, grey rhinoceros horn and ginseng root in a cauldron over medium heat for three hours stirring it thrice every 17 minutes and 23 seconds with a willow ladle. Then leave to simmer gently for another three hours. Then take off heat to cool.

Add Hershey's Kisses under the night of shooting stars. Simmer again and stir until smooth.

Add Siren's hair under the full moon exactly d a half minutes after Venus is in the position of power in the heavens.

Simmer continuously for another two full moons stirring five times every night at 10p.m. with a cherry wood ladle.

The Perfect Kiss potion will make the drinker give the person they think is the most perfect in the room what they think is the perfect kiss. It is a very powerful potion as it reveals whom the drinker admires and believes to be close to perfection.

Draco closed the book laid back on his green satin pillows. He couldn't picture Professor Snape making this potion even if it was part of the school course.

"'Admires and believes to be close to perfection'," he said to himself. "Still doesn't explain why I kissed Granger though. Never admired her and she isn't even close to 'close to perfection' for crying out loud. Stupid bloody potion."

Up in the Gryffindor Tower...

"Why? Why? Why?" Hermione asked herself for the millionth time that evening. She hated not knowing the answer to things and she really had no clue as to why Malfoy kissed her, even when he was under the potion's power.

Looking through Lavender's bedside table, Hermione found the thin red Kissing Potions book. Flipping through the pages, Hermione found the chapter on the Perfect Kiss potion. Reading and re-reading the last paragraph over and over again, it made about as much sense to her as why the boys love Quidditch so much.

"I really doubt that he would think that I was perfect," Hermione said to herself. "I always thought he hated me!"

The sound of people talking and laughing loudly could be heard from the common room. Dinner had finished and everyone was back.

"Hermione! Where are you?" Parvati and Lavender yelled as they ran up the stairs and into their dorm.

Hermione didn't even have time to hide as the two girls jumped onto her bed.

"Oh my god! I can't believe Malfoy kissed you!" Lavender squealed. "I so thought that he was going to kiss Parkinson."

"I know! That or maybe there was a mirror behind you for him to kiss." Parvati added.

"Oh my god, that would have been so funny seeing him pash a mirror!" Lavender burst into giggles.

"You two are seriously disturbed," Hermione said. "I simply do not see what is so funny about Malfoy kissing himself in the mirror. I'm sure he does it everyday in the bathroom."

Parvati and Lavender burst into uncontrollable giggles at this remark, falling off Hermione's bed and hit the floor with loud thumps followed by an "Ow, that hurts!" from Lavender.

"Are you two alright?" Hermione asked, peering over the side of her bed.

"Yeah...I think so..." Lavender trailed off, sighting a thin red book that had followed her in her fall. "Hey, you went through my stuff!"

"Yeah, sorry about that. I just hoped that it would give me come clue as to why Malfoy kissed me," Hermione apologised.

"That's alright," Lavender replied, climbing back onto Hermione's bed. "But on to more important things, was Malfoy a good kisser?"

Hermione's eyes grew wide at the question.

"Tell us Herm! The general public has the right to know," Parvati put in, as she clambered on too.

"Well...um...well...it's...it's...um..." Hermione stuttered. "It's really not as if I have anyone else to compare him to," she ended pathetically.

"WHAT???" the other two exclaimed. "THAT WAS YOUR FIRST KISS?"

Hermione ducked her head to hide her face behind her bushy brown hair.

"Some people just get all the luck," Parvati shook her head in disbelief. "Smart, have best friends that would do anything for you, pretty, popular, first kiss from the best looking boy in school..."

"Hey, Seamus is pretty good looking too!" Lavender cut in.

"Well, I never said anything about your soul mate," Parvati teased.

"Well, I know that you implied it."

"No I didn't! I merely said that Draco was the best looking guy in school," Parvati pointed out.

"You're just jealous that I've found my soul mate and you haven't!"

"I'm not jealous. I'm going to have heaps of fun dating every guy I see until I find Mr. Right."

"Anyways, getting back to Hermione here," Lavender said, getting the attention back to the main attraction, "why do you think Malfoy kissed you? Does he think you're perfect?"

"Hardly. He thinks I'm a mudblood remember?" Hermione pointed out.

"So? He could secretly have a humongous crush on you," Lavender said.
