When Ginny woke up, she was lying on a very soft bed. Her eyes were closed and she knew she was safe in the Infirmary. Dumbledore promised. She was safe. The sun shone on her face and she knew it, despite that her eyes were closed. She smiled softly and stretched her arms. But her arms were held in place near her head. And her feet were held too.

Her eyes popped open and a ragged scream escaped her mouth. Tom was sitting in a chair at a desk beside her bed. He stared at her as the scream strung out over a few moments as if seeing a mildly interesting painting.

"Ginny, my queen," he said as the scream ended. "I have brought you back to me. But do not try to pull something like that again. This time, I have punished you while you were unconcious, but I assure you that if you escape one more time, that I will bring you back and you will feel pain, even if I have to go through it myself."

Tom sat staring at Ginny for a few minutes and started to stroke his inner arm softly. He shivered slightly and closed his eyes and a burning pain erupted on Ginny's arm. Ginny let out a harsh scream of pain as tears welled in her eyes. The Dark Mark. "NOOO!" she screamed, but Tom's laughter drowned out her scream.

"Ginny, quiet," Tom said and she stopped screaming with a gulp. "I will untie you if you promise that you will not run from me and that you will do something for me. Something I need done. But otherwise, I can keep you locked here forever. I am unchanging. You can die here."

"I promise," Ginny whispered and he snapped his fingers. The bonds fell from her skin as if they were alive and it caused them pain to touch her. She sat up slowly and rubbed her wrists. There was ropeburn on each arm. A green velvet nightgown covered her body. She swung her legs over the side of the bed and stared at Tom while brushing through her hair with her fingers.

"Why me?" Ginny asked suddenly. "Why me of every girl in this school?"

"Because I have talked to you," Tom responded. "I have known your deepest thoughts. Yes, the thoughts of a first year, but your thoughts none the less. I don't think you realized that when you wrote in that diary given to you by Lucius Malfoy that I got those same comments in my own diary. I owned the diary when I went to Hogwarts and I charmed it so that when it was given to you in your first year, I could open the chamber of secrets and come through. But Harry Potter prevented it. And now I have something for you to do."

Ginny nodded her head and looked back up at him. Her was staring at her maliciously with a longing in his blue eyes. She knew it would be something terrible.

"You must kill Harry Potter," Tom said. Ginny opened her mouth immediately to protest. "You promised me one deed and this is it. I will release you in the night to go to the Infirmary and kill him. Draco Malfoy will try to stop you, I know he will, so I will arm you with the proper weapons to take care of him. I assure you that Mr. Malfoy will not die. But Harry Potter must. And if you do not do this, I will make you suffer. Nod your head yes, Ginny, do it, you must."

Ginny looked away and tears started to flow down her face once more. She nodded her head and she broke into harsh sobs as she collapsed down into bed. Tom was suddenly next to her, his hand rubbing her back as if trying to comfort her.

"Ginny, my dear, look at me," he commanded and she wiped her eyes with the back of her hand and looked up slowly at him. "In the time it took for me to know your every thought, I learned to love you Ginny. I do not pick you because I simply knew you existed. I pick you because I would have you be my queen and do my will when we rule the wizarding world."

Ginny collapsed back into tears and her hair was soon soaked. He lifted her slowly and set her back on the bed on her back. He pulled the nightgown over her head and she just stared above her at his face crying.

"I love you Ginny," he whispered.

"I dont care anymore," she said with tears in her eyes, unaware that he had started to touch her.

Draco sat quietly and watched Harry melt into sleep. Lupin stepped away from Ginny's bed where Harry had taken up residence and turned to get back to his work of finding Ginny. Draco sat lower on his bed and sunk his head into his pillow. He knew he would not fall asleep and Dumbledore had told Madame Pomfrey to give Draco no more Sleeping Solution. He had said that Draco must learn to face things without using a potion to delay his realization of the problems around him.

"The world is falling apart around us," Dumbledore had said to Draco right after he had woken up and found out about Ginny. "But we must have the courage to wait our turn to fall apart."

So essentially Draco just had to wait his turn until a 17 year old nutcase killed him? Sometimes Dumbledore made no sense.

Harry tossed on his bed once in a while and his face showed evidence that he was not having a pleasant dream. Draco supposed that they would keep Harry in the Hospital Wing that night.

Draco closed his eyes. Sleep would not come. Sleep hadn't come in a few days until Dumbledore gave him the Sleeping Solution. Draco was still sick. His stomach churned most hours of the night and his head pounded often. Once in a while, his veins would feel on fire and he would bite the edge of his pillow to hold a scream in his mouth. But the strangest thing was that almost three weeks ago, Draco had hated Harry. And now Harry was almost a best friend.

Of course he would never admit this to anyone. A Slytherin and a Gryffindor? Best friends? Yah right. Keep dreaming. Not gonna happen.

"Ginny," Tom whispered to her. "Ginny, it is time for you to keep your promise. Night has approached fast. And now you must do something for me."

Ginny moaned and tried to brush him away from her face. "Tom, I can't."

"Excuse me?"

"I can't."

"You will," Tom snarled. "Please keep in mind that I have the dementors now. And I know the location of the Burrow."

Ginny coughed and sat up in her bed. She had only panties on. There would be no use resisting him; there was nothing she could do anymore. She stood up and walked to a leather chair where an outfit was laid out for her. She picked it up, looked it over, and looked down at herself, doubting it would fit her.

She slid her legs into the proper spot and pulled it up. The black dress was a satin material with green lace on various spots. It settled off her shoulders and it curved down awkwardly in the front, easily revealing her chest. There was a built-in corset and Tom pulled her over to him and tightened it harshly. Ginny gasped for breathe as Tom placed a bead of pearls aorund her neck with a large polished emerald hanging on the center of the string.

"These things were my grandmother's," Tom said as his fingers traced the sensitive bones along Ginny's neck. "I give them to you. As a queen would wear them, you should."

"Thank you Tom," Ginny said absently as she stepped away from him slowly. He allowed her to mave away from him and situate herself back on the bed.

"Ginny, it is time," Tom said to her quietly as she stared out the dark window. "I arm you with the shadows. And I arm you with Noirprinc."

Tom handed Ginny a small dagger with green stones along the hilt. In long, flowing letters appeared the word "Noirprinc."

Ginny sat staring at Tom for a moment. The shadows? Tom pulled a small black stone out of his pocket. "Rub this three times in a counter clockwise motion and say 'les ombres font mon ordre.' You shall know what to do when they come. Now go Ginny. Before I lose patience."

Ginny nodded her head and looked back to Tom. "Am I beautiful?"

"Of course my queen."

"I must be beautiful if I plan to kill this night," Ginny said to herself as she opened the hidden door in the wall and pushed her way to the corridor.

Draco burst to conciousness. He had been just on the border of sleep when he heard a noise in the Infirmary. He turned his head sharply and the back of his neck ached as he strained to see what the noise was.

"Sleep," someone whispered and Draco immediately felt his eyelids closing. But he couldn't! Not now!

"No," he said to himself and his eyelids popped back open. But when they opened, Draco almost let out a scream, for someone was standing in front of his bed.

"Quiet," the person said and it became clear that it was a girl. When she moved, moonlight shone on the large black dress she wore. Held to her forearm above the Dark Mark in a small scabbard was a silvery dagger. "Draco, do not fear."

Ginny.

Draco nearly shot out of his bed in order to get to her, but she raised her hand and he sat back down.

"I have come here tonight to do one thing and I must before he finds out that I have even spent this much idle time," Ginny said quickly. Her hands fluttered about like pale butterflies in the moonlight and one of her hands quickly jolted for the dagger. "I must do it, Draco. Stay there. Please don't do anything. I know I ask a lot. But Tom has given me enough to stop you anyways. Don't make him have a reason for me to hurt you."

"What are you saying Ginny?" Draco asked slowly. Ginny was slowly edging the dagger out of the scabbard and she had produced a small black object from her pocket. "What are you meant to do?"

"Harry..." Ginny whispered and a tear rolled down her face as she blinked her eyes slowly. "It's Harry. Tom wants him...gone. I have to. Draco, sit. Please. I can't but I have to."

Draco stood up. "Ginny, I know you can't resist him easily. But you must. This is Harry."

Ginny shook her head and let her hand with the dagger fall to her side. She took a step forward and Draco shot out in front of her.

"Ginny, no." He shook his hand and raised his hands to push her away from the sleeping Harry.

"Les ombres font mon ordre," Ginny whispered and the shadows seemed to get larger. They swelled lazily and figures of black rose from them. They were short creatures, but they move fast and Draco was soon being held in an unbreakable grip of pure shadow.

"Draco, stay quiet," Ginny said as the creatures pulled Draco to the floor. Several masses of shadow held on to each of his limb and as soon as his head neared the floor, shadow rose up and pulled his hair back. His head snapped back harshly and his eyes watered with pain. "Draco, please. Quiet."

"I can't," Draco told her quietly and suddenly the entire volume of his voice changed. "HARRY POTTER! WAKE YOUR ASS U-"

Shadow melted over his mouth and choked his voice back into his throat. Harry grunted softly and rolled over. His eyes were open and he sat up quickly when he saw Ginny. He was not even concious of Draco on the floor.

"Ginny," Harry said weakly, and he started walking towards her. "Ginny, it's great to see you. Where have you been? We were so worried. We-"

Harry suddenly stopped talking mid-hug with Ginny. Ginny pulled her body away from him to reveal a dagger stuck in his stomach. Ginny looked down at her bloody hand on the dagger clearly horrified and pushed Harry away from her onto the bed. She walked slowly over to him and pulled the dagger out of his stomach.

She plunged it thickly into his chest.

Draco let out a muffed scream as Harry sat gasping in surprise. "Ginny," Harry whispered and Ginny nodded her head and allowed several tears to fall from her face onto his. She took the dagger from his chest quickly and blood oozed like a river. Soon, the sheets on his bed were soaked with blood, and Ginny stood five feet away from the bed holding a bloody knife. Tears were rapidly running down her face, smearing makeup that Tom had carefully applied as she slept. Blood soaked the front of her gown and streaks of blood were on her face and chest.

Ginny suddenly let out a small squeal and plunged the dagger into Harry again. "I HAVE TO!" she screamed. Her voice echoed in the Infirmary strangely and she plunged the dagger into Harry's chest over and over. Draco sat squirming on the ground listening to gushing blood and breaking bones.

Ginny finally jumped back from Harry. She snapped her fingers and the shadows lifted Draco to a sitting position. His mouth was uncovered and he sobbed for Harry. Sobbed for Ginny. Sobbed for his mom.

Ginny knelt down next to him. "I can't resist him Draco." Her tears were dried and she seemed satisfied with her work. Ginny put two fingers beneath Draco's chin and lifted his eyes to hers. "There was nothing I could do."

"Don't do this," Draco sobbed. Ginny leaned into him and kissed him wetly on the mouth. Spit mixed with blood. Ginny pushed her tongue into Draco's mouth and Draco returned her gesture in a moment of confusion. But then she ripped away from him and let go of his chin. "Don't do this!" he screamed.

She waved him away. "I do what I must to survive."

***

Draco sobbed and sobbed on the floor. The shadows still held him, but their strength was leaving as Ginny fled. After a short period of time, Draco was released, but his legs were insanely unstable. His injured knees ached as he limped to a medicine cabinet. He ripped it open harshly and several potions fell and smashed on the floor. Draco was hoping, praying, that someone would come because of the noise.

But no one ever came. Draco pushed potions out of the way to find what he needed. Aging Potion. Beautifying Potion. Burn healing paste. Deflating Draught. Sleeping Solution. He tossed more bottles onto the floor and looked down quickly to realize that he was barefoot and he feet were gushing blue blood all over the floor. Skelegro. Forgetfullness Potion. Invigoration Draught. Pepperup Potion. Where was it?

And he saw it. Blood-Replenishing Potion.

He took up the bottle and limped across the feild of broken glass between himself and Harry. Peices imbedded themselves into his feet, but he did not care. Get to Harry first, his mind said.

As he approached the blood-soaked bed, Draco turned the bottle over to the instructions.

...Give by mouth to the injured person...

He hopped on top of the bed next to Harry and opened Harry's mouth. Blood was filling it from his chest. There was no way that potion would get past the blood.

He looked back down.

...In the event that potion cannot be administered by mouth, apply directly to an open wound...

Draco popped the cork off the top of the bottle and poured it over Harry's chest. It seeped in through the wounds and Draco waited.

Harry's chest began to move faster and Draco hoped it was a sign that blood was flowing easier. Draco pulled off Harry's soiled pajama top and laid him properly on the bed. Draco limped back to the medicine cabinet and grabbed a handful of bandages. He limped over the glass back to Harry and pulled Harry to a relaxed sitting position, where Draco started winding the bandages around his chest and stomach. He wound up Harry's entire torso and laid Harry back down. Harry grimaced with pain.

Draco slumped to the floor with bandages. He pulled one of his bloody feet closer to his eyes. There were small peices of glass in almost every cut. Draco stood up and quickly walked back to the medicine cabinet. He pulled out a few more things and limped back to his spot on the floor. He brought his foot up and held a peice of cloth to it. The cloth quickly soaked up draining blood and Draco picked up a bottle of potion.

"Edwizen's Foreign Object Remover

Simply pour on an afflicted area and the potion will pull foreign objects up out of the skin. Helpful for wizard zoologists."

Draco uncorked the bottle and foul smell of tar came forth. He ignored the smell and poured it over his foot. It quickly covered his entire foot and suddenly it hardened. Draco could feel something odd and he suddenly grabbed his foot in pain. Peices of glass were being pulled from his skin to the surface. As suddenly as the potion had hardened, it melted down to notingness and dozens of tiny peices of glass were left in a pile on the floor. Draco took up a bandage quickly and wrapped it around his foot. He then set to work on his other glass-filled foot.

When he was done, he focused on Harry yet again. There were multiple deep wounds in his chest and stomach. They were bandaged. But Draco didn't know how to heal magically. He would have to wait until morning.

Until morning, when the shadows couldn't get to him.
