To Make Her Love Him

Chapter 1

Ginny Weasley. What a wonder she was. A mystery to most, for her utter silence and her unexplainable beauty, but a give-away to others, for it was easy to see her undying love for the Boy Who Lived.

It was soon to be Ginny's fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Over the summer she had gotten an owl informing her that she would be a prefect in the upcoming year, and she couldn't be more excited. Now, she would have an extra excuse to sit in the Gryffindor common room and 'discuss school matters' with none other than Harry Potter. //And hopefully, we'll discuss other things too// she thought to herself, while a small smile appeared on her delicate face. The smile that stayed with her for the rest of the summer, for simply thinking about Harry made her feel happy and warm inside.

Unfortunately, her smile was quickly wiped off her face on the train ride to the school, as bad news spread across every compartment. Although, no one took it as bad news except for Ginny, because everyone had always expected, and hoped, that Harry and Cho would get together someday. And there was no doubt about it, they were definitely together.

Harry was sitting in his usual compartment, accompanied by Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Seamus Finnigan, Dean Thomas, Cho Chang and Ginny Weasley. Cho was sitting on Harry's lap and her arms were clinging onto his neck, while his arms were tightly wrapped around her stomach, as if he was afraid to let go. Harry whispered something in Cho's ear and she began to giggle before she kissed him. Ginny got this sick feeling in the pit of her stomach, and she couldn't look at them any longer. She turned her face to the window while tears filled her eyes. //How could this happen? I'm supposed to be the one in Harry's arms! Not her! Not Cho! How could he fall for her act?//

For the rest of the train ride Ginny sat silently, drawing no attention to herself, and everyone else just sat around laughing and talking about Quidditch. The sick feeling in her stomach was gone, and it was replaced with a feeling of hatred for Cho. Ginny felt like Cho had completely taken over. After all, her brother, Seamus and Dean seemed to think she was hilarious, and Hermione obviously liked her too. But above all, Cho had taken Harry. Ginny came to the decision that she needed a new circle of friends, and she would get one this year.

Once they were at school, Ginny sat down at the end of the Gryffindor table alongside her best friend, Colin Creevy. They had gotten close in their third year when they discovered that they both had an interest in Harry Potter; Colin admired him, and Ginny loved him. Ginny looked at her friend with loving eyes, for he was like another brother to her, and she could trust him with her life. Ginny may have needed new friends, but she wouldn't trade Colin for anything.

Colin looked back at Ginny, with desire in his eyes. He always wished to become more than friends with her, but he knew that what she felt for him was nothing more than what you would feel for a brother. As he stared at the depths of her ocean blue eyes, he noticed that there was some sadness in them. "Ginny, is something wrong?" he asked carefully so as not to make her feel any worse. Ginny looked down at her plate and said, "N-no. I'm fine. Wh-why do you ask?" Colin smirked when he saw Ginny's reaction, "Gin, I think you're just about the worst liar in all of England. You never look me in the eye when you lie and you always begin to stutter. Just tell me what happened?" At these words, Ginny looked down the table and she saw him, Harry, with Cho. Tears filled her eyes again and she looked back down at her plate. Colin turned around to see what made his friend cry. Hermione was yelling at Ron, Seamus and Dean were over-looking their new schedules, and Harry--Harry was with Cho, "Aw Gin," Colin said as he suddenly understood what was wrong. He held his friend close to him and said, "Don't worry about him, you deserve better anyway. He's just a blind git. I mean, if he can't see the incredible person you are, than he's not worth your time." Ginny looked up at Colin and smiled. He always seemed to know exactly what to say.

Feeling a little better, Ginny finished her meal, and she and Colin made their way up to the Gryffindor common room. She lay in her four-poster bed and looked up to the ceiling, thinking about what Colin had said. //Maybe Colin's right. Maybe Harry isn't worth my time. I mean when you take away his eyes, his face, his body, his smile, his personality, and his sense of humour, he's just another guy. Nothing special. All I have to do is get him off my mind. Which should be easy considering I'll have more to do now that I'm a prefect. And meeting the other prefects should give me a chance to get a new circle of friends. So basically I'm in for a good year. Yay for me! // After that thought, Ginny closed her eyes and slept the best sleep she ever had in Hogwarts, because for the first time, she was looking forward to the following day.

There was only one problem that no one, not Colin, not even Ginny, knew about. While Ginny was sitting with Colin in the Great Hall, talking about Harry and eating her food, a pair of profound grey eyes were staring at her every move.

(A/N: well that's the first chapter.....hope you like it! There's a LOT more stuff to come so keep reading! And don't forget to review!! Enjoy!)

Chapter 2

(Note: when Ginny is thinking in bold, it means that she's responding to her thoughts)

Ginny looked around. It was exactly one week since she arrived at school, and she was now in her first Prefect meeting. The prefects were sitting around a rectangular table in a connecting room to the Great Hall. There was a warm, golden fire crackling in the hearth, and big, burgundy chairs surrounding it.

Albus Dumbledore sat at the head of the table. Next to him, on either side, were the Head Boy and Girl, but Ginny didn't know them by name. They were followed by the seventh year prefects, Ginny only recognized Cho, Stacey Kamil, Katie Bell and Justin Brown. Sixth year prefects were next, and of course, Harry was sitting next to Cho. Hermione was next to Harry on one side, while on her other side sat Justin Finch-Fletchley. Next to him were Ernie Macmillan, Padma Patil, Milliscent Bulstrode, and Draco Malfoy. Ginny was sitting across from Draco, though she had tried hard to avoid this, because for the past week Malfoy had been looking at her in a different way, as if nothing could break his concentration on her face. It was beginning to scare her. She had quietly begged and pleaded Colin, who was also a prefect, to switch seats with her, but he refused afraid that Malfoy would put a spell on him.

When all the prefects were in the meeting room, Dumbledore stood up and began to speak. "Welcome to our first meeting of the year. It's nice to see all of our last year prefects back again, and congratulations to all the new students joining us today. Being a prefect is a big responsibility. You have been selected from our many students because the staff and I believe that you can, and will be a good role-model to younger students. This means that you will have to get good grades, participate in extra-curricular activities such as Quidditch or helping with holiday decorations, and be extra careful so as not to break the rules," At these words, Dumbledore looked at Harry and smirked, then continued with his speech.

"A prefect's living environment is different to those of regular students. You will no longer be sleeping with the students in your year. On the top floor of each common room, there is the Boy Prefect's dormitory, and the Girl Prefect's dormitory. The six prefects of each house will divide themselves and share a room in the beds assigned to them," // Yes!// Ginny thought // Not only is Katie really nice, but now Hermione and I are surely going to get closer! Watch out Cho! I'm coming back! //

"The same bedtime applies to you as it does for other students. Therefore I will not allow any sneaking out of the dormitories in the middle of the night. Anyone who does, will be severely punished. Make sure to--" Ginny was distracted in the middle of Dumbledore's speech by the strange feeling that she was being watched. Nevertheless, when she turned her head away from Dumbledore and faced the boy sitting across from her, she saw that he was transfixed by something in her eyes, except this time he wasn't blinking. Completely freaked out by Malfoy's behaviour, Ginny began to wonder how to bring him back from his daydream, and get him to leave her alone. After five minutes of snapping her fingers and waving her hands he came back to earth. He shook his head in confusion, looked up, and smiled the sweetest smile Malfoy had ever given. Ginny smiled back and couldn't help but notice that he was a lot more attractive now than he had been in the past years. His hair was spiked as opposed to gelled back. His eyes were a light shade of grey, making him seem innocent and sweet. His lips were carefully carved into shape and were painted with a light pink that stood out against his pale skin. The only thing Ginny didn't know was whether he had a good body or not, and at this point, she wouldn't hesitate if she got the chance to find out. It was definite, Malfoy sure had changed over the years, and now he was filled with hotness from the inside out. Careful so as not to get too distracted by the sudden discovery of Draco Malfoy and his face, Ginny turned her face back to Dumbledore.

"I'm sure you all know about the prefect bathroom. It's on the fifth floor next to the statue of Boris the Bewildered. It's fairly big and quite nice to bathe in. You may set the type of bath you wish, but there are a few things I would like to point out. First is that if you choose to bathe there you must bathe alone. I don't want two or more of you sneaking in together at a time for that would be completely against Hogwarts rules and our standards." Ginny looked down the table and saw Cho whispering something to Harry. //No doubt planning their future encounters in that bathroom so they can snog// Ginny thought with disgust. But then, she turned her head as she heard Malfoy whisper, "Oi Weasel! Can't wait 'til you and I see that bathroom together!" //EW!! How could he even say that?? A Malfoy and a Weasley?!? Never!!! Well actually it wouldn't be too b--AHH! What am I thinking?!?! It'd be disgusting!! It'd be wrong!! It'd be totally against everything I've ever been taught about how Weasleys act towards Malfoys!! But it would be exciting and damn sexy--UHH!! No, it's not right! It could never happen, and it won't ever happen! Unless of course--NO!! // At this thought, Ginny glanced at Malfoy who was still smirking at her, and quickly turned to Dumbledore to hear the rest of his speech.

"Secondly; the maximum amount of time you are permitted to spend in the bathroom is two hours. Although this bathroom is shared with less people, you must still respect the needs of others, and that does not mean making them wait too long. Third; there is a portrait of a mermaid on a wall in the bathroom. It can be easily covered if you should not feel comfortable in its presence. Just cast a simple quieting spell and she will lose her ability to see, speak, or hear for two hours, which should give you enough time to finish up.

"Prefect meetings will usually be held once every month with a couple exceptions during final exams. I think that is all there is to discuss for now. Thank you for listening. Now, if you would please make your way back up to your common rooms. Your things should have already been moved to your new bedrooms by now. Have a pleasant sleep."

Ginny was the last one to get out of the meeting room because she wanted to ask Dumbledore what was the latest time she could use the bathroom. She liked taking long showers in the night and she didn't want to disturb anyone by making them wait for her.

As she turned a corner to get into the Entrance Hall, she saw a tall silhouette leaning on the wall. Her heart beating, afraid of whom it was she asked cautiously, "Who are you?" The figure took a couple steps and walked into the light. It was none other than Draco Malfoy.

"Shouldn't Potter be walking you up to your common room Weasel? I would've thought you needed him to hold your hand. But--Oh! Wait! I forgot, he likes holding Cho's hand now. Isn't that right?" He spoke coldly and slowly, making sure Ginny caught every word that came out of his mouth.

"Go to hell Malfoy. I couldn't care less whose hand Harry wants to hold. And besides, when did you start worrying about me getting to my common room alright?" she challenged. He paused for a moment and then he said, "I don't care Weasel, I just thought that with Potter taken, you might need someone new." Puzzled by that comment, Ginny asked, "Wh-what d'you mean someone new?"

Malfoy slowly walked up to Ginny until they were so close that their noses were almost touching. She could feel his warm breath caressing her cheek. She wanted him now more than ever. She wanted to feel him, to kiss him, and to throw her morals away. Her mind was a blur, and all she could see was his gorgeous face right in front of her. He moved his face closer to her and brushed his cheek against her fiery red hair. Then he quietly whispered in her ear, "I think you know exactly what I mean." He moved his face back until his lips were only millimetres away from hers. Ginny was blushing like mad, she could feel it. The blood was surging through her body and she didn't think it would ever stop. Then, quite suddenly, Malfoy closed the gap between their lips and kissed her. It was passionate, a kiss like this Ginny had never experienced. As he moulded his lips to fit perfectly with hers, she felt like she was in heaven. She felt his tongue sliding into the depths of her mouth and she melted into him. Her world was spinning as she ran her fingers through his hair, while her other hand was pulling him closer to her.

If felt as though the kiss could go on forever when suddenly, Draco broke away, the sweet smile from before back on his face. Ginny bit her lip before she smiled back and said, "You know, maybe I'll take you up on that offer to see the prefect bathroom together." Draco smirked at her feistiness and said, "I'll be waiting. But we should be getting back to our dormitories before Snape starts looking for me. Good night, Ginny." Ginny was taken aback. //He said my name! My first name! Not Weasley, not Weasel...Ginny!// "Good night ... Draco." //Wow, I don't think I've ever said his name before unless I was insulting him. Feels kind of good. I should try doing it more often. But, wait--// She stopped thinking when a sudden realization came to her mind. "We can't tell anyone can we?" Draco's face sadden and he said, "For now, no. But who knows what surprises the future will bring us." He took her hands in his and said, "If I act like I hate you in public, know that I don't. In fact, I think I love you." //Oh my gosh! What did he just say?? He lo--Whoa! Awkward silence! C'mon Gin, say something!!// But before Ginny could say anything, Malfoy kissed her on the cheek and said, "Well, bye." As he walked away, Ginny shouted, "Bye! See you soon," before he turned a corner and walked out of sight.

Ginny lay in her new four poster bed staring up at the ceiling. "Draco," she said. "Draco," she whispered. "Drrrrrrraco!" she purred. Basically, one hour was spent practicing saying Malfoy's name and seeing how it rolled off her tongue so easily. After a while, she remembered what he had said. //He loves me??// Ginny thought, //How could he love me? He barely knows me. And surely just looking at someone for a week doesn't make you love them right? Unless of course he's completely shallow and only wants me for my looks. But no, that smile, that's not a Draco smile. That's not an I-don't-like-your-personality-but-I-think-your-arse-is-hot smile. That was a genuine I-love-you smile. Wow, I don't think anyone has ever loved me before. Just wait until I tell Col--oh no! I can't tell anyone! Well I'm sure if I ask Draco then he'll sa--no, actually, it's better this way. If no one knows, then no one can judge me...us...no, there is no us! What am I saying? One kiss doesn't mean we're together! Besides, he kissed me, I was just going with the flow, and I didn't want to be kissed by him. Also, if no one knows, then Harry can't find out. Oh my gosh! Harry! What'll happen if he does find out?! He'll hate me! I mean I was kissing a Malfoy!! He'll think I'm a slut! And so will Ron! No, now I definitely won't tell anyone.

OK well, now that I figured out who I can't tell, the only problem is EVERYTHING!! Where's my happy ending?? Isn't that what love is supposed to bring people? Or maybe that only happens when the love is mutual, not like this. I don't love Draco... do I? Could I ever love Draco?// Ginny contemplated this for a while. She thought about her feelings toward Harry, the feelings she was starting to feel towards Draco, and what would happen if she ever had a public relationship with him. She then concluded, // I don't love Malfoy. In fact, I hate him! He's always making fun of me and my family, he's really rude to Ron and Harry, and he's completely against Muggles and Muggle-borns! Which means that he and dad wouldn't get along very well. What a scumbag! Trying to seduce me for I don't know what reason and making me believe that he really loved me!?! As if! Besides, if I would ever go out with Draco, it would only be to prove to Harry that I don't need him. And to make him jealous, that is, if he ever could get jealous of Malfoy. UHH all this thinking is hurting my head! I need to sleep, sleep is good. Sleep solves all problems.//
