The Tree Story

It was a fairly windy day, cold, windy, and kind of rainy. It was rather dreadful out. Still, James Potter, Sirius Black, and Remus Lupin were outside, sitting in a rather tall tree. It was four days after the latest full moon, so Remus still looked a little beat up.

"Jamie, I'm bored, the tree is dumb, and I'm so hungry, I could eat Remus!" whined Sirius.

"Hey!" yelled Remus, and he moved closer to James.

"Shut up, you guys are so annoying!" yelled James.

"Fine, meany," said Sirius, sticking out his tongue, childishly, and he crossed his arms, pouting.

James had a pair of Muggle binoculars, and was using them to look into the Great Hall.

"Jamie, what are you looking at?" whined Sirius.

"Nothing, and stop calling me 'Jamie'."

"The question would be better stated, who are you looking at," said Remus, smiling mischievously.

Sirius, catching on, smiled mischievously too.

"Jamie and Evans sittin' in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" sang Sirius.

James turned very red, and punched Sirius in the arm. Sirius tried to punch him back, but he missed and hit Remus, who wasn't expecting it, causing him to wack James in the head. Then James tried to punch Sirius again, but while doing so, Remus lost his grip, and fell to the ground with a thud. James and Sirius looked at each other then, hurriedly, climbed down the tree.

"Remus, are you ok?"

"Remus?"

"Siri, check his pulse."

"Er...he has one."

"We need to get him to Madam Pomfrey."

"How do we do that?"

"I dunno... carry him?"

"But what if he's hurt?"

"He is hurt."

"Yeah, but I heard that you're not supposed to move people after they've been hurt."

"Well then...er...I'll run and get Madam Pomfrey, and you can stay here and keep him alive," said James, and he promptly took off running.

About three minutes later, Madam Pomfrey was there, and she fixed Remus up in about ten seconds. She kept him overnight in the Hospital Wing, for observation.

"Poor Lupin," said Sirius, sadly, looking at Remus's unconscious body, lying on the Hospital Wing bed.

"Yeah," said James.

"I guess fighting on a tree wasn't the best idea we ever had."

"It wasn't," said a voice, coldly, behind them.

"Evans," said James, sweetly.

"Potter, Black," said Lily, in the same cold voice.

"What are you doing here, Evans? Have you come to snog James senseless?" said Sirius.

James elbowed Sirius in the ribs, turning bright red in the process.

"No, I've come to see Remus."

"Why?" asked James, curiously.

"Because I feel bad that he got knocked out of a tree because you two were being idiots, so go away."

"Fine, let's go Siri," said James, glaring at Lily.

Then James and Sirius promptly left. Lily walked over to Remus's bedside, and sat on a nearby chair. She started absentmindedly running her hands through his hair. Remus opened his eyes, and blinked several times.

"What happened? Where am I?" said Remus, groggily.

"You're in the Hospital, you fell out of a tree."

"I fell out of a tree!?!"

"Well you were actually, sort of, pushed out by Potter and Black," said Lily, and she glared at the wall, as if it was James and Sirius.

"Oh," said Remus, quietly.

Lily looked at him, and smiled.

"You're...er...really pretty when you smile," said Remus, shyly, causing Lily to smile even more.

"Only when I smile?" asked Lily, teasingly.

"Er...no. All the time, you're pretty, that is," stammered Remus.

Remus continued to stammer, and ramble on. Lily leaned over, and kissed him, which caused a look of surprise on Remus's face. Which went away immediately after he started kissing her back. Just then, James and Sirius walked in.

"What the hell?" yelled Sirius, in complete disbelief.

Lily and Remus immediately broke apart, and turned bright red.

"I-I-I was just-we-we" stammered Remus.

Sirius shook his head in disbelief. James shot Remus a glare so fierce, even Sirius shuddered. Then James took off, Sirius at his heels.

"You-you should go," said Remus, on the verge of tears.

"I," started Lily.

"Just go!" yelled Remus, and he put his head on the pillow, and started sobbing.

Lily left, with silent tears streaming down her face.

"I can't believe he did that! He knew I liked her, but he went behind my back, and KISSED HER!" yelled James, furiously.

"Maybe he didn't kiss her, maybe she kissed him. It was unexpected," said Sirius, quietly.

"Yea right, stupid werewolf. Next time I see him, I'm gonna throw him in the lake, and freeze it. Bye, bye, werewolf!"

"We are probably going to see him in the morning, seeing that this is his bed," said Sirius, motioning towards Remus's bed.

James smiled, evily.

"Let's see what he hides from us."

"James, we shouldn't, but let's anyways!" yelled Sirius, excitedly.

So they started digging through Remus's trunk.

"Hey Siri, look at this," said James, holding up a small book.

On the cover it said one simple word that made James almost jump for joy. Journal.

"Ok, let's see here," said James, opening the book," Blah, blah, blah, whine, whine, blah, boring, nag, nag, nag, blah, oh, here's something!"

"Let me read it! Ok, November 8^th. Today was interesting, I had History of Magic, Charms, blah, blah, blah, I think that Rachel is really pretty. I shall tease him about that later. Anyways, today I made some real friends, James Potter and Sirius Black. Hey, that's me! They are mischief makers, and don't study very much, but they are my very first friends so I will try my hardest not to screw this up. Unfortunately bad things always tend to happen to me. James, did you know that we were Remus's first friends ever?" said Sirius.

"No."

"We should, like, apologize, because we just did some bad stuff to the poor boy."

"Yeah."

"Perhaps forgive him, as well."

"Yeah, I suppose."

So James and Sirius walked back to the Hospital Wing. When they got there, Remus was still sobbing into the pillow.

"Hi, Remus," said James, quietly.

Remus looked up at him with puffy, red eyes. It made James feel very sad to see Remus like this, especially since he caused it.

"What do you want?" said Remus, sniffling.

"I'm sorry, Remus. I dunno, I guess I was jealous. I mean you kissed the hottest chick in this dump," said James, quietly.

"Yeah, but, for the record, I was not mad at you," said Sirius.

Remus sniffled, deep in thought.

"I forgive you," said Remus, quietly.

James and Sirius smiled proudly. Sirius pulled everyone into a group hug and made them all laugh. They all decided never to fight, or push anyone out of trees, unless it was by accident or a Slytherin. James and Sirius decided never to tell Remus that they went through his journal, but, they did peek occasionally, afterwards.
