Harry Potter & The 5th Year Summer

July 31 1995 - 7pm

I'm one very happy fifteen year old right now, and not just because it is my birthday.

Right on the stroke of midnight, my room was filled with owls dropping off letters and presents, which is a stark contrast to what I expect for the Dursleys. Ever since I found out that I was a wizard, they have completely ignored my birthday, but since they never gave me proper presents anyway, this doesn't bother me anymore.

Ron gave me a book titled 'Seeker Tips From The Professionals.' I've only flicked through it briefly, but it has all sorts of tactics in it that I can't wait to try. If Quidditch is on this year that is. I reckon I'll go starkers if it's not.

Fred and George sent a package containing one item of everything they have invented so far, while thanking me again for giving them the money to invent. It's good to see that they are putting it to good use. Far better than anything I could have done.

Ginny and Hermione sent me a joint present (Hermione has been at The Burrow for a week now). Ginny gave me a protective covering for my Firebolt, while Hermione naturally sent me a book (A Guide To The O.W.L's). As if I didn't need any reminding, but it will probably help me study better this year.

Hagrid and Sirius both sent letter's to me apologising for not being able to send presents, but just hearing from them was enough for me. Both are on mission's for Dumbledore, but unfortunately, didn't specify what they were actually doing.

The day past slowly as usual and I sat in my room going through my presents, when at about four o'clock, something smacked into the side of my head. I looked around the room and saw Pigwidgeon buzzing excitedly around the room. I grabbed the letter and read.

Great news! Dumbledore's letting you come and stay! Just be ready at twelve o'clock tomorrow so Dad can pick you up. Tell your Aunt and Uncle not to worry though, this time he's coming by car.

YES! This had turned out better than expected. I thought that I would be able to spend at least the last two weeks of the holidays at The Burrow, but now I was there for a month!

I went downstairs and told Uncle Vernon that Mr Weasley was coming to pick me up at twelve o'clock tomorrow. He opened his mouth to remonstrate, so I quickly added that he was coming by car, Uncle Vernon relaxed a little.

'He's not coming in the house though' he growled. 'You'll wait out the front for him and go as soon as he gets here.' That was fine by me.

I'm pretty much packed already. I just want to finish my Charms assignment so I can go to The Burrow without having to worry about homework.

It's only been a month, but I have missed Ron and Hermione terribly. I can't wait to see them. Throw in the rest of the Weasley family and I've got a feeling that this last month of the holidays is going to be a hell of a lot of fun!
