Daddy Ron and Little Rose

If You'll Just Go To Sleep

The blood red Rose

I gathered yesterday,

And the fire and cinnamon

Of the carnation,

Bread baked with

Anise seed and honey,

And a fish in a bowl

That makes glow:

All this is yours,

Baby born of woman,

If you will just

Go to sleep.

A Rose, I say!

I say a carnation!

Fruit, I say!

And I say honey!

A fish that glitters!

And more, I say-

If you will only

Sleep till day.

Gabriela Mistral

Hermione awoke in the wee hours of the morning to feed their baby Rose. Nursing made her very tired, but she knew that this was part of being a mother. Besides, when she gazed into the angelic face of their daughter, she knew this would be worth it. Nursing seemed to bring a special bond between her and her daughter. She wondered if her mother felt this way. She then gave a slight giggle, wondering how Mrs. Weasley bonded with Ron with his appetite. She then thought that Mrs. Weasley probably just used an attachment charm to keep Ron on her hooter at all times.

She slowly turned over and saw that Ron was not there. She didn't feel him get out of bed. Not to feel her husband get out of bed must be an indication of just how tired she was. He often got up to make midnight raids on the refrigerator. She always felt him moving about. She also had to put an anti-snoring charm on him so that he would not wake the baby. She decided to look in on their wonderful gift. She peered into the bassinet that was next to their bed. Rose was not there. Oh, no, she thought, he is not already teaching her the finer points of raiding the icebox. It was then that she saw a note attached to the bassinet. It read. Dear: The Love of my life, Hermione. The baby started a mild fuss and when I looked at you lying next to me with such a peaceful look on your face, I didn't have the heart to wake you. So I let you sleep while I took Rose into the living room and bonded with her using a bottle. I love you so very much. Daddy Ron

Hermione slowly got out of bed and followed the hallway into the living room. There, sitting on the overstuffed comfy chair, was daddy Ron and their daughter snuggled together fast asleep. She noticed a half-filled bottle of milk lying next to them. She then went to place a blanket over them and kissed them both gently on their foreheads. She also noticed, with silent laughter that little Rosie did a proper pee through her diaper all over daddy Ron. She shook her head and then went back to bed. Before she entered the hallway she turned around and gave another look at the loves of her life. I love them both so very much, she thought. She smiled as she lay her head on the fluffy pillow. She began to fade away. She began to dream. Her dream became a Portkey to the past.

"Has anyone seen a toad? Neville's lost one," she said. "We've already told him we haven't seen it," said Ron. "Oh, are you doing magic? Let's see it then." As she unveiled this memory, Ron's non-workable spell came to the forefront. "Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow, Turn this stupid, fat rat yellow." Hermione began to giggle in her sleep. She saw it didn't work and told him it wasn't a very good spell. As her dream continued she remembered saying, that her name was Hermione Granger. She then remembered his muttering reply, that he was Ron Weasley. The dream began to fade and she began to drift into another.

As the new dream was ushered in she turned over to lie on her back. She began to toss a bit.

"Well, if you don't like it, you know what the solution is, don't you?"

Hermione felt like covering her ears. Even though it was a dream, it still seemed so real and so loud. She remembered how angry she was and how angry he was. She also remembered Ron's reply.

"Oh yeah?" Ron yelled back. "What's that?'

"Next time there's a ball, ask me before someone else does, and not as a last resort!"

Hermione began to smile and then a tear formed in her eye as knew this was the beginning of their understanding of how they felt about each other. The truth was that she started to have mild tremors for him when he took on the role of a knight during the chess match for the stone. She just didn't say anything at that time. She then rolled her eyes as she thought of Gilderoy Lockhart. She then giggled dreaming that he probably was still wondering who he was.

Still lying on her back, she began to dream a new dream. They were at Hogwarts fighting He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Then she shook her head on her pillow, and mumbled to herself that it was okay to say his name because Voldemort was now dead. However, she dreamt, why would I want to say his name anyway. All of a sudden she began to pucker her lips. She became all warm and giddy inside. She was giving Ron a full frontal snog. She had dropped the basilisk fangs and launched herself at him. She was swapping spit with him and she loved every moment of it. Her lips were puckering with intensity. The dream was so very real.

"Hermioneeeeeeee! The baby peed all over me! Yuck!"

Hermione awoke from her dreams and sat straight up. She wiped the sleep from her eyes. She heard Ron yelling again and decided she had better go and rescue him from their daughter. Before getting out of bed she muttered again how much she loved them both.
