The hallway was nearly deserted as I walked towards the room which held my Narcissa, and my baby boy, my new baby boy. Draco. My dragon. Knocking softly, I entered. She cradled him in her arms, wrapped in soft blue cloth. I took him in my arms. His hair, a platinum blond like mine and his eyes the same shade as mine. He looked exactly as I had when I was a baby. I held him up at arm length and considered him. He was a beautiful baby, would grow into a beautiful boy. Draco. My dragon. I laughed, softly, and cradled him in my arms. He was a mirror of me. His hands, with tiny delicate fingers explored my face, wrapped tightly around my finger. He was a sweet, boy. I gave him to Narcissa and left.

He was my Draco, my dragon, but there was work to do.

~~~
I wasn't there when he learned to walk. I was away on business. The Ministry is full of daft fools, but Narcissa told me all about it. He must have looked quite sweet toddling around on his feet. He was quite the master of it by the time I returned.
He grew so quickly. He was bigger, but still a mirror of me, still charming. My Draco, My dragon. His tiny body of three, his glittering eyes. He looked at me, and said in his tiny voice
"I'm gonna be like you, Dad. You know I'm gonna be like you." I smiled at him, and fluffed his hair. "When you coming home, Dad?" I paused.
"Son, I don't know when. We'll get together then. You know we'll have a good time then."
And he smiled at me, and he was just so charming, he was my Draco.
~~~

Draco turned ten just the other day. I looked at him, so much bigger, so in control of himself. He never was a crier, and he never would be. Draco was strong. Nothing could touch him, hurt him. I was glad.

I gave him a set of Quidditch balls for his birthday. He was training to be a Seeker. There was no other position for him to play, really. He was perfect for Seeker. He wanted me to play a game of Quidditch with him, but I couldn't that day.

"When you coming home Dad?" I looked him in the eyes.

"Son, I don't know when. We'll get together then. You know we'll have a good time then".

He smiled and said "That's okay." And he walked away and he smiled and he said, "You know, I'm gonna be like him, yeah. You know I'm gonna be like him."

~~~
He came from Hogwarts yesterday. He had grown so much. I looked into his eyes, and they reflected back images of myself. I wondered if he realized the similarities between us, we were almost identical, if not for age. He looked so much a man I just had to say,
"I'm proud of you. Could you sit for a while?"
He shook his head and he said with a smile, "What I'd really like, Dad, is to borrow the long distance broom. See you later. Can I have it please?" I let him take the broom, but had to ask "When you coming home, Son?" He smiled, "I don't know when." He looked so genuine and I was so proud of him, my Draco, my dragon. "We'll get together then. You know we'll have a good time then."
I watched him take off with pride. He was a great flyer, and as he flew away to be with his friends, I was filled with pride. Pride. My Draco, my dragon.
I retired long ago, and Draco moved away. I missed him, my Draco, my dragon. So I stopped in, unannounced by Floo powder. He was the mirror image of me, long blond hair, and pale blue eyes.
"I'd like to see you, if you don't mind. I've missed you, Son" He smiled and said,
"I'd love to, Dad, if I could find the time. You see my new job's a hassle and the kids have the flu, but it's sure nice talking to you, Dad. It's been sure nice talking to you." And he turned and walked away, and he flew to work.
I stood there, and turned slowly back and floo-ed myself back to the mansion before I realized, he'd grown up just like me. My boy was just like me. My Draco. My dragon.
He was just like me.
