Draco saw her when she first got off the train and was enamoured. She was so poised, so prideful, so dignified, so...much like him. He was the only one who could look like that! What was she trying to do, steal his school away from him? He was the one everyone loathed and loved. Why did she have to be so perfect too? It made him sick just to look at her, but at the same time he was too captivated to move and his usually cold face started to show emotion. This just made Draco more determined to hate her, and he soon regained his cold face. It was very peculiar. He knew she couldn't be a first year; and by her robes he could tell she was rich. He knew everyone at the school with money and had never seen this disgustingly entrancing girl. His curiosity got the best of him and he soon found himself following the girl through the long corridors of Hogwarts.
Angelique Champlain made her way through the King's Cross train station; as she stopped in front of the wall between platforms nine and ten she closed her eyes, crossed her fingers, and ran through the wall. This would have been her 6th year at Sperlings School of Witchcraft back home in Louisiana. She was transferring to Hogwarts against her wishes; her father thought his daughter should be at the best school she could. It wasn't because of her friends that she didn't want to go; in fact she had no friends to miss. It definitely wasn't because she missed her father. She couldn't wait to get away from that stupid evil git. No, it was all because of one person, Harry Potter. God how she hated that name! He was nice and friendly and famous. Why the hell did he have to be so fucking good! She had read up on all the students when her father told her the news. She knew everyone by name, but Potter she knew more than anyone, (It did help that his name was plastered fucking everywhere!) and he would soon learn that he had a new enemy to fight. She made it through the wall and boarded the train. She sat by herself and formed a plan as she rode. As she exited the train she saw a blonde boy staring at her. "Slytherin robes, blonde hair, That has to be Malfoy," Angelique thought. "Why the hell is he looking at me like that?" she pondered, but as soon as she thought this his face went cold. Angelique knew that Draco hated Potter, and that he could be a powerful ally. Maybe she shouldn't hate him as much as everyone else; don't get the wrong idea she wasn't evil like Malfoy's father- or her own for that matter, but she didn't think Draco was either. Well, she'd have to decide on Malfoy later; right now she had to find Dumbledore.
Draco followed his new interest down the long corridors of the school until she stopped at a huge gargoyle. He hid in the shadows and watched as Professor McGonagall appeared from God knows where and muttered a password. " Damn, she just got here and she already gets to go to Dumbledore's office. She must be important." Draco cringed at this thought; the only other person he knew that got to go to Dumbledore's office was Potter. As he waited for her return he tried in vain to plot his revenge, but nothing came, all he could think about was her long blonde hair and her perfect mouth. He had to ruin that bloody perfect face of hers, but as she walked past him, now in Slytherin robes, all he wanted to do was kiss her.
She saw it when she arrived in Dumbledore's office, the hat that could determine her future. If she were placed in Gryffindor she didn't think Potter would be around much longer, but there wasn't much chance of that happening, she was born to be in Slytherin. Of course she was right; the Sorting Hat said Slytherin almost as soon as it touched her head. She changed into her robes and headed out to find Snape. She caught a glimpse of blonde from around the corner as she walked toward the Great Hall. She knew it had to be Malfoy . Why was he following her? She'd have to question him later. Maybe a bloody nose on that perfect face of his would make him talk. Did she just say perfect face! She made a mental note to kill herself later. As she entered the Great Hall Malfoy jetted past her and took his seat. She saw the scowl on Snape's face as Malfoy ran past him. " Professor Snape," she half-asked half-said in her sweetest voice " I'm your new student Angelique Champlain."
" Ah, yes Miss Champlain, I've heard much about you. Welcome to Slytherin. Why don't you take a seat next to Mr. Malfoy over there," Snape said in his monotone voice. He showed Angelique to her seat and introduced her to Draco. Mr. Malfoy, this is Miss Angelique Champlain. She's a 6th year also. I should think you would show her around after dinner"
"I don't need your help Malfoy so just stay out of my way," Angelique said as soon as Snape was out of hearing range, although she truly wished he would stay in her way. Then she could look at those piercing eyes all day, or at least make the pale skin around them black as she punched him.
"Don't worry, I wouldn't ever think of being near you!" unless I was kissing that mouth of yours or making it bloody. Draco thought as he glared at Angelique. Draco's stare was broken as he heard Snape's voice.
" Mr. Malfoy show Miss Champlain around before I take five points from Slytherin." Draco reluctantly got up and walked out of the Great Hall with Angelique.
" Why were you following me earlier Malfoy?" Angelique said once they were out of the Great Hall.
"I like to check out my competition," Malfoy kicked himself for saying that.
"Competition, eh Malfoy?"
"Well I learned that there wasn't much there." Draco was thinking about how much competition he actually had with Angelique around when he saw her fist flying towards his face. He didn't get out of the way in time and was blinded by the pain in his left eye. Before he could think Draco found himself saying, "You touched my face Champlain, you're going to pay!" as his fist hit Angelique straight in the mouth.
Angelique pushed Draco and pinned him to the ground. The blood on her lip dripped onto Draco's chest. He couldn't help but want to kiss her pain away. Then his world faded to black with Angelique's left hook.
Angelique collapsed on top of Draco as she hit him. He had no right to look at my lips! She screamed in her head but no words came out. It took all the strength she had not to cry. She hadn't felt the need to cry in years. Why was he doing this to her. She heard footsteps and hurriedly climbed off Malfoy. He was still cute even with a broken nose she thought with her final glance. She looked up to see Dumbledore coming around the corner.
"Miss Champlain, what is the meaning of this!" Dumbledore said in his unusually calm voice. Angelique just stared blankly at the headmaster as he pulled her up by the arm. " You are going to the infirmary right now to get cleaned up."
"What about Malfoy," she said in the voice of an innocent girl. She despised that voice, but it slipped out anyway, and she blamed Malfoy for that.
"I'll take care of Mr. Malfoy; Now go!" he said more sternly.
