I wanted to be like you,

I wanted everything.

So I tried to be like you,

"Hey 'Mione! Wait up!" Ron chased after Hermione as she descended upon the staircase. She stopped when she heard his voice and waited for him.

"Hey Ron." She smiled her little I'm-Depressed-But-It's-Nice-To-See-You Smile.

"Guess what," Ron said with a gentle smile

"Harry is dying...again," Hermione guessed. It was a cruel guess, but she was depressed, but we have to give her some slack.

"No." Ron nearly rolled his eyes. "I'm taking Arithmancy next semester!"

Hermione looked at him, surprised. None of her friends took Arithmancy.

And I got swept away.

Ron looked at Hermione. Her hair was becoming a darker brown, and was becoming less bushy. It looked very pretty. Her eyes looked browner; she herself looked fuller then she usually did. She looked beautiful, if he dared use the word. He had never studied her to this extent. She was just an everyday face, but now - POW! It was like she had grown up overnight.

Ron, while ogling over Hermione, missed a step and fell, dropping his books and becoming tangled in his robes.

I didn't know that it was so cold and,

Hermione smiled a true smile and pulled her robes closer around her and shivered. Winter was always cold in Hogwarts.

You needed someone to show you the way.

Ron scrambled to get all his books and joined Hermione up to the Gryffindor tower. She stopped in front of the portrait hole.

"I've forgotten the password," she muttered, surprised at herself. As a seventh year and Head Girl, she was not supposed to forget the password.

"It's 'Dragonfly Wing'." Ron spoke the password and the portrait of the Fat Lady opened.

So I took your hand and,

Ron stepped into the portrait hole and offered Hermione a hand to help her in. Hermione took his hand, even if she could very well get herself into the portrait hole. To both Ron and Hermione's surprise, neither let go.

We figured out that when the tide comes I'll take you away.

The Common Room was empty. Hermione and Ron sat down in front of the fire.

"What's wrong, 'Mione?" Ron gazed at her. "You've been so sad lately."

"We're about halfway through the school year and I don't want to go back to my family." Hermione was very open with her thoughts, which she rarely was.

"You could always come stay at the Burrow," Ron suggested. "Ginny would be pleased."

"So would I," Ron added mentally.

If you want to I can save you,

"Ron." Hermione looked at Ron lovingly. "I love you, Ron."

I can take you away from here.

Those words took Ron by surprise. He never expected to hear them, especially from Hermione. But those words reflected exactly the feeling in his heart.

"I love you too, 'Mione."

So lonely inside, so busy out there,

Ron, who was still holding Hermione's hand, pulled her up as she stood. He knew he might regret what he was going to do.

But it was Hermione who initiated the kiss, not Ron. Ron would've never done it, he was afraid to, afraid of the response. But he was happy she did.

He wrapped her arms around her like he would never let go. Ron Weasley, the youngest Weasley boy and the quietest one who only outranked his brothers in wizard chess, was in love.

Then Hermione stopped and pulled away. She smiled. "Thank you Ron. Thank you for caring when no one else did."

Then she kissed him again.

And all you wanted was somebody who cared.
